1. I see what you mean, Endorka; but sometimes people have appointments to keep with hookers and burgers and stuff. Truckstops
2. My first gig was at a Scout hut in Wheathampstead about 9 years ago. It just sped by, can't even remember any of it! Cant really offer any advice, just make sure you have a towel for your hands because you'll be bricking it! Truckstop
3. That actually looks not bad at all! I thought his other signature model looked like someone had sneezed glitter all over a star-shaped bass that had been built by a man with one arm. Truckstop
4. I miss my turquoise Yamaha RBXJM1. I only sold it because of a major GAS attack and I wish I'd have thought about it for a few more days. I reckon I would have kept hold of it. It really was a special instrument and I simply didnt appreciate it as much as I should have done Truckstop
5. Well as a person that works in a live music pub, I'd have to say yes! Only for practical reasons though! But, as a musician who plays covers in pubs and clubs aswell, I'd have to say no. I mean, you're never going to like every person ever, but as a person who is on stage/in the corner and performing for these guys, we should be grateful for the opportunity and most of the time I feed off people who react positively to the show! The only people I ever have any sort of disdain for are boorish bores! Truckstop
6. +1 on the black scratchplate! It's worth tracking kiogon down on this forum, he makes and sells wiring kits or basses and I've hears they are of extremely high quality. So, grab one of those, stick in some wizard thumpers and you'll have a great sounding bass! I agree that bridges add little to the overall sound, the only reason I'd ever buy a badass is because they look a bit cooler! Why not look at getting a nice vintage solid brass one and a nut to match? Might not make much difference tone wise, but it'll look wick! Truckstop

8. Literally 30 seconds. The longest part was trying to find the keyhole to the car in the dark. I play tuba for a local mini-brass band, played the last note, waved goodbye and walked out into the carpark. I dont have a case for it and I dont carry any music to pack up with me either. Although, if we're sticking to bass (again?!) then I would say a couple of hours. I'll either stay and watch the rest of the bands or I'll stay for a couple of shandies. Truckstop.
9. This is sold pending everyone Cheers Alex
10. Hello all! Selling my little Marshall MB30 practice combo for £40. It does what it says on the box, 30w through a pretty good clean 10" speaker. The selling point of this amp is the dual channel function it has. It has a 'modern' EQ and a 'Vintage' EQ. The Vintage adds a little grit and emulates lovely vintage valve tones. The modern utilises a compressor (adjustable) and is very hi-fi sounding. A good little practice combo and also ideal for small acoustic duo type gigs. Again, selling for the same reasons Im selling all my other amps. Im very happy with my Ampeg gear and simply have no need for any other amps. Otherwise I'd keep it innit! Here's a stock pic as it's in good condition: Collection or I'll deliver up to 100 miles away for some extra cash and a cup of tea! Cheers Alex
11. Hello all, Im selling my Peavey Firebass 700 Whiteface for £100! I bought it just over a month ago because I needed something more reliable and more powerful than my GEM s.bass.50 that I was using (also for sale). Bought it from Chi, and here's his original ad: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1487645 Chi's described it perfectly. My own thoughts are that it has a lovely rich bass tone and that the main reasons anyone would want to buy this is because it's very cool and because it is seriously DOOM. It is as loud as your cabs can handle! This is either for collection or I'll drive it to you for some extra cash and a cup of tea! Cheers Alex
12. Hello all, As part of my bassgear graveyard clearout, Im selling this Carvin R600/Cyclops bass combo. I bought it a while ago to use at the rehearsal room, but since buying my Ampeg gear which is light enough to move around, I've decided to sell it on. Anyway, you'll be wondering why it's so cheap. It doesnt work. Well, the amphead doesnt work, the cab works perfectly. Proper beefy with a lovely bass rich tone. Really, truly floor shaking! I've had the Peavey Firebass 700 up to 8 with this cab without distortion... that's loud!!! The head used to work (obviously), but we had a power cut at the practice room and since then I've not been able to get it working. Maybe someone with better knowledge of this sort of thing could fire it up again? (Im also happy to sell the head and the cab seperately in case someone just wants the head for a project, in which case the head for free (collected) and the cab for £50.) This is either collection or I'll deliver to around 100 miles away for some extra cash and a cup of tea! Cheers Ive taken some pictures, but they're not very good. Apart from scuffing on the edges of the cab (carpet, by the way) it's in perfect nick, so here's a stock photo:
13. Hello all, I'm selling my GEM Saturn Bass 50! I'll be frank, it needs work done to it. It works, but it's pretty erratic. The volume dips and peaks, the tone knobs sometimes work and sometimes they dont. Sometimes it turns on and sometimes it doesnt. When it's working well and it's firing on all cylinders, it really is a special piece of kit. Plenty of grunt wirth a real aggressive overdriven tone. Partnered with a bass heavy cab and a jazz bass, the tone is unreal, it's almost like having a fuzz pedal on! Not sure what the ohmage is, I used it with my 8ohm Ampeg and it seemed fine! So, in summary it's a good bit of kit that needs a lot of TLC by someone who knows what they're doing! Here's some pictures! http://s1168.photobu...rn%20Bass%2050/ Let me know if im far out with my £75 valuation. Offers considered, no trades please! I'll not send this anywhere. It's fragile and I cant be arsed to sit around waiting for couriers all day. I'll deliver it up to 100 miles away for some tea and cash. Cheers Alex
14. After putting an ad up for an Ampeg PF-500 (total shot In the dark) I was very surprised when Lozz got in touch and offered me his one for a ridiculously low price! Obviously I jumped on it like a hobo on a haircut and now I'm the proud owner of a wick amp that matches the cab I bought off him the year before! He even chucked in a TC Electronics gig bag for it. Lovely guy, great taste in gear and willing to please! Deal with confidence! Alex
15. Really nice there mate, great job! And that's a lovely piece of Walnut there, lovely ripples of flame there. Truckstop
16. Well, as long as it didn't go for a song! Truckstop
17. Yep, thanks again for selling to me my entire rig! Had a blast through the PF500 when I got home this morning and it sounds so lovely and bass rich! Cheers Alex
18. Very nice indeed! Reminiscent of the Yamaha RBXJM I think. The binding's a nice touch too! Tempting.... Truckstop
19. Aw, sorry mate that sucks Take a little breather for a couple of months and then see how you feel about playing music with other people again. I'm sure this won't turn you into some sort of musical recluse, and seeing as you're proficient on db and eb, I'm sure you'll get a gig nice and quick! Truckstop
20. Slanty pickups would be demon!!! Do it mate, it might not sound 'better' or even much different at all, but it's good fun tinkering with your instruments and if you invest in some good pickups it'll sound immense. Give it a go man! Truckstop
21. Based solely on the strength of my experiences with Rich Lewis re-finishing my jazz, the second I have disposable cash, Im PM'ing him to get a quote for a new bass. He has a ridiculous eye for detail! Anyway, back on topic: I think that Certain basses are amazing. An American Fender, but without running the risk of a dud. Great idea! Truckstop
22. So what is the expression pedal compatible with? Or not! Might be cool if this works with my boss me20b! Cheers Truckstop
23. You're guaranteed excellent build quality with Yamaha. I've never picked up a Yamaha without thinking to myself how well put together and solid they are! You can do much much worse than spend £300 on a second hand BB model. There's a couple of very sexy green RBX's on ebay at the moment too, the 5 stringer's got the same configuration as the original RBX John Myung signature and they are excellent basses! But, if you're after a Fender, then nothing else will do. As everyone else says, try before you buy and when you go and try, make sure you know what a good Fender feels like! Truckstop
24. Oooh, well done mate! I have an audition for a band on saturday, hope it goes as well as yours did! Nice one! Truckstop
