  1. The neck of a long-departed SB301. It's black over pale wood, presumably maple, with a rosewood board and 24 frets. The trussrod is maxed out and there's a developing separation between fingerboard and neck at the headstock end (though this never got any worse while I had it - five years or so). There are a few small dents and bumps - nothing through the paint, and nothing on the back of the neck. Neck is straight. The frets have some wear but there's a lot of life in them yet. There's no hardware or nut. The trussrod cover is around here somewhere but will take some finding. The bass was a BC SB301, not labelled as Japanese-made, and with a five-digit serial number. Educated guesss is that it was part of the pre-production batch done in Korea when BC was considering moving production there. Yours for price of postage and a feedback entry.
  2. An Ashbory, in blue. Bought second-hand several years ago, for a friend who listened to it once and said "I want one!". She's now sold it back to me, but I don't need it. In good nick, with (I think) Aquila Thundergut strings, which have been on it long enough that they've changed colour slightly (a massive improvement on the original silicones, which snapped if you looked at them cross-eyed). All works well. The photos show it as I've used it, with one strap button removed; I hang it round my neck so it sits more or less vertically with the headstock by my left ear. I'll find the other strap button. £175 plus shipping at cost; it will be well packed, in its own bag and with bubblewrap inside and out.
  3. Peavey Fury II. £100, plus courier at cost if needed. Active four-string with a single soapbar and 3-band EQ. Black/maple/rosewood, hardware is a sort of brushed-aluminium grey. I bought it from BCer Paul S in 2012. Selling for the money and the space, and it's far too nice to sit unused. If I understand correctly, these were in production into the mid-90s, and it's probably Korean-made. Overall it's in pretty good nick - it has lots of small scratches on the front and some buckle rash, all hard to photograph on the black body, but only one serious bump. It also has some wear from the strap, above the rear button - it's been played a lot (not by me, sadly). There are a few small marks to the back of the body. It has one bad ding, on the lower body; someone has painted it over - maybe black nail varnish? The neck is straight, maple and rosewood by the look of it, nice to play, 20 frets, slim and shallow (38mm nut). It and the body have different serial numbers, for some reason. Weight is 3.85kg (8.5lb). The trussrod works smoothly. The electrics work correctly. For couriering, it will be well packed (cheap gig bag, bubblewrap, cardboard box) or I can add a battered, heavy generic hard case for another £25. Otherwise I can deliver to a 50-mile radius or so. I got it via this sale thread: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/183984-peavey-fury-ii-sold-pending-the-usual/?tab=comments#comment-1767896 The black finish really does not photograph well and the results were bad even by my standards, but here are the best of them:
  4. Doing the forensics is always interesting
  5. Reflection of a lampshade. But yeah, looks almost like a baby speaker.
  6. Argh... If I had an income...!
  7. My favourite band, bar none, till about 1978. After that I lost interest. Hall Of The Mountain Grill is not given the respect it deserves, IMO.
  8. We can always refer to the earlier parts of the thread for inspiration. Hindsight is 20-20.
  9. Nice! And I don't even like burst finishes...
  10. I've been meaning to ask, Mick; is that a bowler?
  11. If we box clever, we might get four or six more of these cricket-related puns in here.
  12. Well, I suppose being maiden Germany must be pushing the price up. Though I still think that's a slip.
  13. I pay a charge for my prescription. I am concerned that imported medication (along with other imports) will suffer delays. That is likely, given that there is no way that the necessary customs and excise software has been tested properly in the time available, and that the training can't be begun for most users before December, and that any faults in the software will have one month - with public holidays - to be fixed and retested before the whole system goes live. So yes, I am sure there will be delays. Meanwhile, those who already have lots of money will be able to short sterling.
  14. Well, let's start with being unemployed... And no amount of money is going to compensate if I can't get prescription medication.
  15. I think it's the other way round, isn't it? So far, anyway. I've no idea how far it will fall, after the end of 2020. But that has no bearing on whether it will fall or not. Which said, my best guess is parity or a bit worse, maybe 90 cents to the pound, in about June; things should be more stable by then. All those currency traders are trading at that price now, and they will adjust their pricings as time goes on. As they do, all the time; because that is how they make their money. What they trade at now has no bearing on the price in January.
  16. The likely collapse in the value of the pound will have more of an effect, IMO.

    Sold!

I wish I'd kept my old BBN5 Good luck with your sale!
  18. I'd be all over this, if I actually had an income... GLWYS!
  19. Strike that, the poor sod will just wind up spending more than £3K in the For Sale anyway
  20. TBH I'm more surprised at only two photos, for a bass which you could reasonably expect to fetch well north of 2K. That doesn't seem scammy either; seller not used to eBay, more likely. Maybe the best thing to do is introduce them to BC
  21. Jealous... :) When I've got an income again, I'll be after one of those.
  22. Given the comment by dudewheresmybass above, the photo was probably removed about 20 hours ago.
  23. On the picture of the back of the headstock. Which has been removed, it appears.
