  1. If anyone near Dundee is thinking of upgrading to an LT I saw one on Gumtree with flight case for £500 earlier in the week. (I don't know why I've kept the saved search as I have an HX effects and a Stomp. I've seen a few go for £450. I know I don't need one but just in case.... )
  2. Many thanks. I’ll try him again first. It sounds like he’s trying to deal with it. My email may have just slipped between the cracks or fell foul of a spam filter. If I have no luck I’ll take you up on your kind offer.
  3. Who did you write to for the refund? In July I replied to an email from Neil Golding at Gold Media Events requesting some information about refunds as I may have a gig on the date of the rescheduled date in September and have heard nothing back. I doubt either my gig or the bass Show will happen.
  4. I like the Roger Mellie one. I hadn't heard of De Gier. I now want one of his Soulmate basses. GLWTS ... and the house.
  5. I've just taken it into my luthier today to get the fingerboard planed, the bridge adjusted and a general polish in order to put it up for sale. I have this picture from a recent gig and I've just taken a few of the detached extension as that's all I have at home right now.
  6. I recently got one second hand. I found that if I turned it so that is was going vertically up it was more comfortable. My double has very wide shoulders and I could do with the extension being a couple of inches longer to get a similar feel. I may have a go at making something, failing that I know a good carpenter. The best extension I've come across is the one on my Clifton.
  7. (Sorry to be diverting your thread walshy, just trying to give a positive review of their necks) Thanks Geek99 & Bill Wy,Aye,Man. I've been told by two different builders/repairers that due to the binding it's a £400ish job with no guarantees of success. The truss rod has gone in about 5mm and there is the hint of a tell tale buckle under the 19th fret block inlay. If money and me ever become friends again I'll look into it. The all parts neck was the only way I could afford to make the bass playable at the time and has done a good job.
  8. I've got an All Parts neck on my 72 Jazz as the truss rod is gone on the original. I have to say that after a little professional work on the frets it plays really well and though I'd like to reunite the body with it's original neck I'm not sure it would be an improvement even if I could sort out the truss rod. I still can't bring myself to sell the old neck just in case. GLWTS
  9. Just a heads up that Joe Hubbard has a 30% off offer for his one year bass foundation course. i think it runs out in 2 or 3 days. https://www.joehubbardbass.com/joe-hubbard-bass-foundation-course/
  10. Thanks, I didn't go back far enough to see it, just looked on the current page. I should have guessed that it keeps being passed over on eBay and then relisted. It really is a horror.

  12. If you don't need a third signal without speaker sim to go to your amp then you could have a send block just before your 'IEM tweaking' EQ which goes from the send out to your PA. Then use the (L/Main) out to your IEMs. You could maybe do similar by putting a left/right splitter before the eq and use the stereos outs, sending the side without eq to pa and the side with to your IEMs. I used the first method for sending effects +amp+speaker sim to PA and just effects to my amp.
  13. The lessons take the form of a video which is usually somewhere between 15 and 25 minutes and a pdf. I backed up all the pdfs (several times as I’m cautious about hard drives failing). I also printed it all out. You have access to it all while on the course and if you get a week or two behind you don’t need to worry as there are 48 lessons each year. I found that I rarely needed to go back to the video other than during the week of the lesson. The videos are clear and concise, as are the pdfs. The course I took was an intermediate one, The bass mastery Course. https://www.joehubbardbassvideos.com/bassment/ He also offers a one year a foundation course but I can’t find the info about it at the moment. You’ll need to be able to read music notation as there is no Tab. Please note this doesn’t mean you need to be able to sight read. As long as you can work it out slowly you’ll be fine and you’ll also get better and quicker at that as a welcome byproduct. He also offers a package with one off lessons (the lesson lounge). These you can dip in and out of as you want. I had access to both as I was on the Premium package. There’s some good stuff in there but what I needed was a coach and the basement was perfect for me. I’ve now been playing for nearly 40 years and started off trying to get bits of information from friends and also the one bass column in Guitar player each month, eventually getting down to some serious study about 7 years later working through Jerry Coker’s Patterns For Jazz. I’ve since worked through a lot of books but really needed someone to tell me what to do each week. I’m fairly good at self study but felt I needed some help with a focused study plan. I play double bass and bass guitar and felt that my bass guitar playing was getting left behind. The course provided a great way to get my practice organised and there’s plenty of stuff that can be applied to my double playing too. I can’t remember the exact amount but I paid around £200 per year but this was after a 50% special offer. It’s worth signing up for email notifications as Joe offers discount to a limited number a few times a year. Every now and then he offers lifetime access to all his courses for somewhere around £600 which, if you can afford it, and importantly, are prepared to work hard is a bargain.
  14. I took Joe Hubbard's 2 year course and it was excellent. Some of the areas it covered were already familiar to me but there was always something in each lesson to keep me working through the week. I really needed a disciplined path to follow. One of the good things about Joe's course was getting one lesson each week rather than access to the whole course in one go. This kept me focused. I must admit I felt a little bereft when it came to an end. I bought his Chord Tone Mastery book to keep myself going while waiting for his Advanced Course (coming in the near future.) I did try another course on another site to fill the gap but found the style a bit grating and the content bit lacking. I stuck with it and picked up a few things but couldn't recommend it.

  16. I have one of these too and though I don't travel by public transport, every time I arrive at a wedding venue and have to move the bass 500yds up and down more corridors than you thought possible I thank myself for spending the money on one. They've gone up a bit since I bought mine but if I lost it I'd replace it immediately. I got mine here: https://www.kontrabass-atelier.de/zubehoer_e.html#bb
  17. On one of my regular gigs I've needed to use the ground lift on my Radial JDI when using my stomp.
  18. I've just had a look at this and if you use a Pan block at the beginning of a preset you can do this with one block. Thanks for the idea.
  19. This may be useful to anyone wondering about the Stomp’s versatility. I do a doubling gig with a function band where I have to change from double bass to bass guitar mid set. I use IEMs but still have my amp on stage. The way I use the Stomp is bass guitar into the mono input, double bass into effects return, Effects Send to my amp (with a send block just before the amp/cab sim at the end of the chain), the Left output to a radial JDI for front of house (with amp/cab block) and the Right output going to my IEM mixer using a TRS to XLR (though the headphone output would work too). I’ve found that I tend to have to use the ground lift on the JDI. My double bass patch has an effects return as first block (with no signal coming through it from main input) and a send at the end so it works the same as the bass guitar blocks in terms of front of house and stage amp. One problem with this setup is that I can’t use the Stomp’s tuner for the double bass without swapping over plugs. I do have a small Wee Lush A/B switch but I’m trying to keep the setup as simple as possible. I have a larger board with HX Effects and Mesa Subway DI on but found stage real estate enough of a problem with having the double bass and bass guitar. The Stomp and JDI fit nicely under the band music stand. I had thought about swapping over the Mesa with the Stomp and having the HX Effects in an effects loop from the Stomp. That way I could just take the Stomp on smaller footprint gigs but still have the amp sims when there was more room. To do this I’d have to change my doubling gig presets with the Amp/Cab block on path B at the end of the chain with it panned fully left and the dry path (without amp/cab) panned to the right side. Left output to FOH, right to stage Amp and the headphone output to IEMs.
  20. It sounds like the same as my ACG's preamp (SEQ). Coincidentally I just wrote to Alan today about this preamp as I wanted to try the version with the overshoot peak pots and was considering upgrading. He told me there was an adjustable trim pot inside that can alter the overshoot and sent me the diagram to show where they were as there are 2 trims on each of the filter boards. The other trim pots are to balance the level of each pickup. You may already know about this but I had been playing it for 3 years without realising. I boosted the trims today and absolutely love the sound. The bottom end has really come to life. It might be worth trying before selling. If not good luck with the sale. ACG_SEQ.pdf
  21. There is an export button on the top left (I think) of HX edit. I have my patches saved on my mac
  22. I'm interested but will have to wait for someone to buy my my Erhlund EAP first. (probably time to give it a bump)...no need it's still on first page
  23. I managed to find a free hour to go and visit Pierre. It turned out to be only a 12 minute cycle ride away from where I’m staying. It was good to actually get my hands on one of the basses I’d looked at and also try out some other great instruments. I highly recommend getting in touch with him if you find yourself in Brussels.
  24. Yes, there’s some great looking basses there. Unfortunately it’ll probably be too awkward to arrange a time as I’m unlikely to know in advance when I can excuse myself from parenting duties. I do have 3 days though so may drop them a line. This just the sort of info I was hoping to find here. Thanks everyone.
