  1. Thanks. That’s a shame. I’ll have to default to my usual sifting through vinyl instead. ps I’m still enjoying the fretless Maruszczyk Frog though there’s a Wal on here that’s got my attention.
  2. I’ve just ordered a super midget but I’m still tempted by this. It depends on if I can be honest enough with myself to admit that I’m going to keep both rather than the partner ready line : “I need to try them both next to each other and keep the one I like best.” Manchester and Yeovil are too far away from each other so I’ll have to wait to make my decision once the post option appears.
  3. I’m in Brussels for a few days with family and was hoping to slope off at some point and have a look at some basses. Has anyone who knows the city got any recommendations? Time will be too short to just try the google top ten and hope to get lucky.
  4. Go to https://uk.line6.com/software/ click on Downloads at the top, then go to HX Stomp in the Hardware pulldown menu. the list of all effects is pages 19 to 27. You can bypass HX Effects (which I have) so I'm guessing you can on the Stomp.
  5. Double bass wooden endpin from Lando Music. http://www.kontrabass-atelier.de/teile_e.html#ep It's approx 16cm without rubber, approx 18cm with. For 10mm end pin socket £25 inc p&p I've recently increased the height I have my bass at by 7cm (finally sorting out my left shoulder problem in thumb position) so can no longer use this. There are a couple of small scratches on the metal ring (see photo, they're both pretty similar so didn't take 2 pictures) I did have a thin strip of paper inside the metal ring to keep it nice and tight but it seems fine at the moment. I guess this may be due to the wood reacting to temperature. If you're in Manchester you can pick it up and save yourself a fiver. I've tried to get a decent shot of the length but due to the angle when getting the whole thing in it looks out with the ruler. Did a close up on the last one.
  6. I promised my wife that I would sell it once I got my Helix HX but I'm such a hoarder I was tempted to keep it just in case I needed it in the future. There are more than a few things I have that also fit into that category (like spare emergency amps that don't really work that well anymore). Typical conversation with self...I might need it as a practice/headphone amp...but you have a Phil Jones Bass Buddy...well what if that breaks?...etc I now need to have a long hard look at my preamps. Marie Kondo has a lot to answer for.
  7. Thanks for the messages Al Know & songofthewind.
  8. After reading a post from another bass player and where they placed the Ehrlund I seem to have finally found a place where it works on my bass. I'm withdrawing this from sale for the time being. For Sale Ehrlund EAP acoustic pickup. Highly regarded but just not quite right for my bass. £240 including signed for and insured UK postage. PRICE REDUCED TO £225. (That's about a £200 saving on new from Ehrlund.) Paypal Business payment for your peace of mind. https://ehrlund.se/product/eap-system/
  9. Zoom B3n in very good condition. It's been attached to my pedaltrain with hard case since I've had it. It's pretty much mint apart from a couple of small marks on one side (see photo). I've left the hook velcro I used on in the middle. When I attached it to my board I removed the rubber feet and had strips of velcro in their place. The rubber feet were kept on greaseproof, sticker backing paper, so were reattached with no loss of stickiness. The price includes UK signed and insured postage.
  10. I just bought some strings from Luke and they were delivered quickly and in described condition.
  11. PM'd re other set of Thomastiks (and, optimistically, the La Bella 760FLs if Roger hasn't taken them.)
  12. I'm trying to fit the helix plug (dc-3G?) under my pedal train metro. I plan to use a splitter c14 to dual c13 to feed 1 spot cs6 and the dc-3G. There's only enough space for the helix power if I don't add any of the European or uk plug adaptors, as they make it too wide to fit flush against the underside of the board. Does anyone know what I need to plug directly into the 2 flat pins? I think I might need a c14 to NEMA 5-15R and just plug into the 2 non earthed holes. I spent a lot of time searching online for information but had no luck. I would have rung up Maplins if they were still around. Any help appreciated as I'd rather check before ordering one. Thanks.
  13. I'd been looking at the same seller for the HX Effects for a while but was having so much trouble deciding between Stomp, LT & HX I knew that once I made up my mind I'd not want to wait 8 weeks for it as I'd probably have changed my mind by the time it arrived. I took the link down as I wasn't sure about basschat policy on this forum for commercial sales.
  14. just seen one for £349 on eBay (I've just bought a Hx Effects but was still getting eBay alerts) OK....just noticed it's the Grey seller (if I have the right term - someone referred to the same seller when selling HX Effects preorder) and not someone selling theirs on. I've removed link
  15. You might want to pop over to the marketplace.
  16. Yes. It's very good and easy to use but if my effects chain is ABCDEF I still can't make switch 1,A switch 2, C and switch 3, F. it has to be ABC, BCD, CDE etc. Sorry I didn't mean to hijack the Stomp thread talking about B3n but it is a feature in the Helix that I like. I'm trying to convince myself to wait but to do that I should really stop reading this thread but I can't see that happening.
  17. It's not the order of the patches, it's the order of effects within a patch. At the moment if the effects I want to be able to switch on/off within a patch aren't next to each other in the chain then I have to scroll through them to make them switchable. It's not impossible but is a bit of a pain. I like the fact that the HXeffects has 6 with easy non-scrolling access. ...unless I've missed an update (Have spent most of the last couple of months reading various helix threads so may have missed it)
  18. Unfortunately on Friday I was both still waiting to hear if I've been accepted for a 2 year interest free credit card, and also unsure if I was going to be paid cancellation fee for the umpteenth gig this year that's gone down in flames. The good news is I got the cancellation today though it is too late for the 10% discount. It may be just as well as I'd still like to see the HX effects and Stomp next to each other in the flesh. I tried an LT at PMT and was very impressed with it. I have a Zoom B3n and find the 3 switches limiting but the Stomp's ability to assign what you want on each switch and not be stuck with the order they are in the chain would probably make a lot of difference. Also my eyes are getting old (along with the rest of me) and I need to be able to stand up and still see it clearly. It's a shame the HX doesn't have colour screens too. Maybe I'll get one of these 🤔 https://www.nrshealthcare.co.uk/household-aids/reading-writing/magnifiers-lighting/folding-a4-magnifier-stand?fee=19&fep=2032&gclid=Cj0KCQiA8_PfBRC3ARIsAOzJ2upABnM8UdQJyH8WjRy4j-YB8ndHfM2CftzT8pPJo3NI22T4NdVfHMEaAjdHEALw_wcB
  19. I spent a lot of time watching and rewatching the following while I was trying to make up my mind between the Southampton Ictineo and the Mesa Subway. I'm very happy with the Subway. GLWTS
  20. I saw these on eBay £85 new https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kaplan-Set-Double-Bass-Strings-K610L-G-D-A-E-3-4-Size-Scale-Length-Light-Tension/132785192408?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D6c896f2bcb3743ee8b493044a5ca3820%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D8%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D283175834268%26itm%3D132785192408&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A7bf91fb9-c118-11e8-be02-74dbd180826d|parentrq%3A130171c01660ac3e146b07d6fff945a4|iid%3A1 BTW the auction runs out today (27th) sometime around 8pm (I think)...I guess they may be relisted if unsold.
  21. Hopefully receiving it in time for a gig just after bank holiday. Will report back once I've had a chance to use it a few times. The next gig probably isn't the best one to judge it on as I rarely get given more than a few minutes in the soundcheck and there's little fiddling about time between tunes, just enough time to find the next tune in the pad. I have some gigs on my stick with a cuban band next month which might give me a better idea.
