1. I've got a P/J which is set to full P and J at about 15-20% for almost all of the set as the band feedback is that they are the settings that seem to fit best in the mix. The only exception is for Rio, when I completely reverse the balance.
2. Cheers. No PM yet but always grateful for a controversy bump!
3. Cheers Karl, saw that but wondered if I could get a swap with someone instead of ordering new. Dad3353 - not sure if your post is for me or for a deleted offer from someone else that I've missed. If I've broken the forum rules then please take the post down. Didn't see anything in the FAQ about no trades when I checked. Andy
4. Hi everyone, This is a trade only offer please - if I can't get my hands on a two ten then I'm going to keep the compact. As is says in the title, I've got an itch I just can't scratch for a two ten so am hoping someone wants to swap the other way. My G3 Super Compact - cloth grille, kept in barefaced cover when not gigged. In excellent condition, no visible bumps, scratches or marks when I was taking the pics. Handle and feet present and in very good nick. I'm looking to trade for a 4 ohm two ten. Preferably cloth grille but not too fussy if it's steel. Condition and cover the same as my compact for a straight swap but cash my way if not. Based in South Manchester, can travel a bit to meet up. 5. Brand new and unopened Beats Solo 3 Bluetooth headphones in black. Got them thrown in with an iMac but don't need them. They're £200 on Amazon so get a new pair for 20% less. Collection from Sale, South Manchester. No swaps thanks. Pics here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/684cdwabq20rauz/AACXVY5YU4bIY31c0jYjPFkia?dl=0
6. Dammit. Now I want a two ten.
7. I have G2 and G3 compacts - rehearse with just the G3 and gig with both (more for 'width' than volume). Typically I can't help thinking I might just like the two or four ten more. Can't justify the expense though. Anyone around Manchester thinking the opposite way and fancy a comparison?
8. I'd imagine that if it's a 'just in case my main bass fails' backup then something as close to the sound/output of your main bass as possible. That way you can switch with minimal faffing around with settings, especially as you're in a function band where keeping the show going and folk on the dancefloor is a priority. However, in my experience unless it's wildy different tone or output that screws with the band balance then most folks won't notice. It's a standing joke in our band that the constant rotation of gear by the guitarist and myself is purely for our ears only. The good folk at the Dog & Doris on a Saturday night couldn't give a monkeys if I'm using a P bass or a Status 57 string made of graphene reinforced kryptonite provided it sounds good and we play Take On Me! If you can afford it then another one of the same would be great, if not then possibly one of the Fender sub brands, the higher end Squiers get a lot of love on here.
9. We've also got the Alto TS112A tops, a spare as a monitor plus one 15" sub. They aren't as good as the RCF stuff but we got pretty much the whole setup for a bit more than one RCF top. Apparently the updated 12" tops are better but I haven't heard them.
10. I'm South Manchester too, will keep my eyes peeled. I've got a gig this Fri too so need my cab but could lend you a G1 compact if you have any other gigs that you need help with?
11.
If that was the Bowling Green in Horwich that's the pub that started this post.
That's the one. Only played there twice but packed both times, had a few odd requests but just smiled and carried on.
12. We played at a pub that's also on Les' circuit (Horwich). It's a very small room and it got fuller and fuller so that by the last song we were having to shuffle back to leave room for everyone. I spent half of that song trying to play whilst handing folk back the drinks that they had tried to balance on the mixing desk and multi plug socket. TBH I didn't mind too much as I'd much rather play to a busy room than two bored barmaids and a passing cat, but I've definitely learned not to put the desk in that spot next time. If people talk to me then I tend to humour them, smile and nod and then just launch into the next song anyway. Fortunately I've never had someone who just won't let it lie.
13.
That's black. Same finish as my JAXT4. The finish feels like suede.
Thank god for that. If it had been midnight blue then my kidneys would have been on the dark web by now. As it is I'm wondering which one I like least
14. I bought four individual par lights from Amazon for about £25 each. Our pa tops have bolt holes in the top for ceiling mounts so I use bolts to attach the lights to the top of the speakers and point them down at the band. Attached a 4 gang to the back of each speaker with sticky velcro to take all the plugs. Two on slow fade between colours and two on a faster setting, set and forget. Tried them on the floor but got fed up with being blinded every time I looked down.
15.
Gig with the Rawk band in a biker/music pub in Morecambe.
The Bath?
16. Absolute belter. Small pub in Horwich with an amazing crowd who sang and danced all night. We've shifted the set to be more 80s pop and it seems to be working. During Dead Ringer For Love we had to move back to make room for all the dancers. Mix was just right, I used my handbox through 2 barefaced compacts and the contour setting is doing a treat at taming the natural mid boost that my playing g style seems to produce. I was sat much better in the overall sound last night. After a really quiet one last month it's gigs like this that remind me how easy it is to play when the people there are into it, you really feed off the energy.
17. Holy hell that's gorgeous. Is it black or dark blue?
18. And another for the Maruszcyzk here. Got mine from the sale boards here and it is superbly put together. It's a Jake P/j with Delanos and a chambered body so is brilliantly light too, I'm a happy bunny.
19. So, M6 pro vs UE900. Of course YMMV. Running through an LD MEI1000, I'm probably not getting the best out of either as we don't run everything through the desk. I have my vox, a bit of bass and the kick through them. I'm using them both as out of the box in ears, no custom moulds. Sound quality - UE900 wins. Much more detailed on listening to music on my phone, computer etc. Not as noticeable in a gig situation. Are they £140 better? I don't think so. Fit - M6 pro for me. Smaller earpiece stays put better. The UE are bigger and heavier. I've tried different tips but they still wiggle loose more easily when playing. So I'm still undecided, I'll probably persist with the UEs and experiment with desk settings to see if I can fine tune to make the most of them. However, the M6 pro are a fine choice for someone like me playing the Dog and Doris once a month, if only I had more willpower......
20. Is that the CAR one? If so it used to be mine and is a superb bass, good choice!
21. Fernando bought an amp from me. Lovely guy, great communication and quick payment. Very easy deal, thanks.
22.
So good IEM's a must, if you were to go wired, what would be a good (balancing off cost and acceptable quality) set up?
I've used a Fischer stick with a combi instrument/xlr cable which was fine apart from two things - it's pretty low volume and only mono. If I was doing it again I'd use a bodypack that amplified the signal from the desk. However if you can deal with the issues then I may well be selling that setup once I've had a chance to try my new wireless one tomorrow.
23. I normally get a decent amount of drums through the drummer's headset and bass drum mics. We don't do the full mix through the PA for time/kit/mixing skill (mine) reasons so I just need my vox, a bit of bass and kick drum and background levels of everything else. Given that I'm never more than 20 feet from the guitarist on the other side of the stage the effect is similar to wearing plugs with a bit more me to help me pitch backing vocals.
