Think we've got very similar if not the same ones Les. They're ok for a colour wash but I wouldn't use them on their own. I've got a couple of more expensive brighter ones that I use for main lighting. You're welcome to pop by to check them out if we're in your neck of the woods - we're at the bowling green in Dec. I use an O clamp with some speaker pole mounted to the ceiling mount screw holes on the top of our PA tops. Then I can just hang the par cans off them.

We've got a pair of the Alto TS312 tops and they're great. Can't compare to the RCFs as I haven't used them but they're about 1/3 of the price each. For our monthly outings at the Dog & Doris they do the job admirably. We had a digital mixer (soundcraft ui12) but went back to an analogue desk. Without a dedicated sound person we find it easier to make minor on the fly adjustments to physical sliders than the on screen interface. Yes it's bigger and we can't save settings but a desk that did both was out of our budget.

Handbox Audio WB-100 - new 120w tube head (pics)

Nice. Hope he's recessed the butterfly clips enough so that it stands on edge now. The number of diving saves I've had to make after absent mindedly putting mine down like that...... -
"You're better than this." We weren't.

Strengths: Reliable, punctual, backing vox, book most gigs but don't get arsey if folk are unavailable (we're a one gig a month band), learn the songs, take feedback about bass parts even if it means altering something I've spent ages getting right, transport/set up PA/lights and do sound, do social media/promo stuff, decent stage presence. Weaknesses: Can be pretty single.minded about song choice, sometimes 'drift' during songs and balls up for no good reason, get carried away and make crap jokes between songs, always trying to spend more cash on perceived better gear for me or on the PA, book gigs as close to my house as possible!

Lightly used UE900s in ear headphones. In fully working condition but the black paint on one earbud got scratched so I removed the rest as I thought it looked better. Boxed with all the goodies - full set of extra tips, case, extra cable etc etc. I've only ever used one set of tips so the rest are in totally unused condition. Prefer collection from Sale, South Manchester but can post at cost/risk etc etc. No trades/swaps thanks.

Keep trying to snag a gig there, spoken to Ben many times but just can't get us in the door. Last time I played there was as a 16 year old in the upstairs function room, pretty sure it kicked off then too.... Our favourites are the Bowling Green in Horwich, Steamhouse in Sale (a 1 minute drive home always helps) and the brilliantly named Polished Knob in Todmorden. All 3 are favourites for the same reason - the folk there love a live band and aren't shy to sing & dance along from the start. Makes it so much easier to get into the gig when there's a bit of feedback from the punters.

That'll be why I can't see a way to sign up on their site. Thanks for that, it was an interesting conversation as it was the first I'd heard of it. Thanks.

We've just had the 1am "You'll be paid by Invapay" conversation. I've been to the website but can't see any way of creating an account. How did you do it? Cheers!

Soundcraft UI12 digital mixing desk. Wireless mixing desk with 8 XLR inputs, 2 XLR aux outputs (plus two jack channels I've used for extra monitor feeds. 32 band eq per channel, loads of built in FX and saveable presets - really useful for saving settings for different venues/songs. Works really well with our 4 piece/4 vocal band. Works with any browser/smartphone/tablet. Please note THE IPAD IS NOT INCLUDED and is just in the pics to give you an idea of what the interface looks like. The WiFi is great for tweaking sounds from out front during soundcheck and you can plug an external router in for a more reliable connection than the inbuilt one. Recording out to and music in from usb features too. Boxed and fully working in great condition. Can post at buyer's expense but would prefer collection from Sale, South Manchester so you can see it before you buy.

That was quick! Now on hold. Two Alto TS 112A pa speakers. 800w peak power. Good condition - gigged but never pushed with the associated few scuffs from transport. Fully working, these tops have served the band really well and I've used them to DJ and MC to crowds of up to 400 at white collar boxing nights. Excellent sound quality - Alto are a brand that really punch above their price point. We're only selling because we've bought more Altos. One small point - at the moment one of the O clamps I screw into the top of the speakers to hold our lighting poles won't unscrew - the bolt turns freely but just won't come out. I'm hoping to get my hands on a drill more powerful than my asthmatic cordless to drill it out properly as I want the bracket back for our new speakers. Collection from Sale, South Manchester or I can meet locally. Cheers!

New mixing desk - advice/recommendations please
colleya replied to colleya's topic in Accessories and Misc
The analogue and budget arguments won out and so we gone for the Alto live 1604. I also took the chance to upgrade the tops from the older Alto TS112a to the new 312a with a lot more headroom. Have to wait a week or two to test the desk at rehearsal but I'll report back with an amateur perspective!- 22 replies

We got ours from a signwriter I got to know from the local pub band scene. He's on FB if you search 'Signs by Alyerpal'. Not sure about TShirts but he does backdrops, pull up banners, bass drum skins, stickers etc
