  1. Was a very bad hair day man...
  2. I quite like the look of my own one.
  3. I remember watching it with my brother and my dad from the early 80s onwards. My dad had been in the French alpine corps and loved all that sort of thing. It was people like Franz Klammer, Steve Podborski and Ingermar Stenmark racing in those days. But yeah I’ve never been skiing in my life either! Excellent bit of music.
  4. The Communards “Don’t Leave Me This Way” The opening theme music from Ski Sunday Theme from Magnum PI The Rocky soundtrack album
  5. Ha ha I know what you mean. I was handed a white/tort 1960s P to try reverentially a few years ago and it was pretty grim and manky really. I didn’t like to say anything as I was supposed to be dead impressed.
  6. I’ve got the active version of this (BB604) and it’s a superb bass. Really light, balanced and a lovely slim jazz bassy sort of neck. Lovely build quality too. Tough time to be selling tho I guess. GLWTS tho Richard.
  7. Sure thing. I think there’s just something about that rich old sunburst and knowing it’s a 60-odd year old bass that makes me swoon a bit!
  8. I can happily look at that bass for a long time...
  9. This one sadly isn’t mine - it’s from Andy Baxter’s website. But I think this late 1950s three tone sunburst, good scratchplate and maple next combination is just utterly gorgeous.
  10. My 2013 MIJ Mustang is the one I pick up to noodle. It’s featherweight, sounds really loud unplugged and means I can wonder around the house without smacking into doorways. Its my only short scale bass but I find it very playable and comfortable. I never liked the dark tort guard so swapped it for a white one and I’m happy now (important consideration when playing at home as i constantly keep glimpsing myself in mirrors and windows!)
  11. Whoa that’s cool! Why didn’t I think of doing that? Much appreciated
  12. Exactly that - thank you kind sir
  13. I have dug out this Line 6 Pod to amuse myself tho while there’s no chance of any other musical interaction, paired with my little practice amp. I know nothing about effects so have been just pottering, but some decent bass synth squelchy sounds and some good amp simulations etc. I’ve had the manual knocking about for years. Except now. Now it’s gone into self isolation by itself somewhere.
  14. A cover of “You Got It”?
  15. Ah man! I’ve only gone and bought a Boss OC3 for a gig..... which then got cancelled. If I knew how to do a facepalm emoji, I’d insert it just here “ “.
  16. I nearly bought myself some IEMs. Having just bought a new bass cab for all those gigs I don’t have, and a new car which can sit outside the house for the foreseeable future. Great use of money.
  17. Part of being stuck at home with no gigs and no musical companionship has made me itch to get some new gear to cheer myself up. But at the same time with no gig income and no gigs, it’s impossible to justify (and currently impossible to get hold of anyway unless it’s via Amazon). And only on day six of self-isolation and working from home aargh!
  18. £75 tho. For a neck plate.
  19. Top tune and lovely bass part
  20. We half thought the same but nope it’s a young Welsh fella with a telecaster who plays rockabilly like a man possessed. We even got offered tea and lemon drizzle cake when we got to the venue to set up. Proper rock n roll that. Tis a good bass. Light as a feather, with quite a faded burst now and buckle rash thru to the bare wood at the back.
  21. Ah this is the beginner’s model which they kept simple...
  22. Me onstage back in January with my originals band, opening for the James Oliver Band (demon Welsh guitarist and all round top bloke). Apologies to those repulsed by sunburst and tort....
  23. Yeah you must have heard the tune of Sir Duke among the way. Fantastic tune to play!
  24. Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel. I know there’s an octave effect in there somewhere. I was learning it for a gig but obviously the pressure is off a bit now ha ha! I keep dipping in and out of Rhythm Stick and Sir Duke too, just for the joy of learning how to play them properly.
  25. It’s that count of 10 for the middle breakdown that throws dep drummers. Lost count of the number of times I’ve told them to trust me on the 10, counting it out loud to cue them, and watching the panic in their eyes as they just can’t resist counting to 12 before coming back in. What the hell happened there?
