  1. That is a Paddington Stare of the highest quality!
  2. My fave Fender 2015 US Precision has had a Hipshot Xtender and a Fender Stealth Retainer put on it. Neither required any drilling etc so bass can be put back to original status with no signs of the changes having been made.
  3. From the limited amount I’ve heard from Gasoline & Matches I quite like them so will have to check out the Katy Hurt material if of similar genre?
  4. Did you look at the instruction manual? Reddit, Reddit
  5. Def @Happy Jack, in my last band the most ridiculous weekend we did was: Gateshead Friday night Glasgow Saturday lunchtime Blackpool Saturday evening Yes we were an originals band not covers but still a bit of a feat for guys in their 50s.
  6. At some point I’m sure I’ll get one.
  7. A PM flying your way
  8. I had a Nemesis 410 @Rich, was a great cab, def one of those that I should have kept hold of. Wasn`t expensive either.
  9. Yup, looking at me now prob seems unbelievable that I had both the far-left and far-right haircuts on that pic. Them`s were the days..............
  10. All of them will work fine, having had the CMD121P (I also had the NY121 ext cab) it’s plenty for a regular size venue though I think I would lean more to the CMD102 or the CMD151 as having a 2x10 or 1x15 is greater surface area so in theory more sound.
  11. Looks great Pete
  12. I suppose due to the size of the UK in comparison to the USA it’s easier for us to make the effort to travel to the gigging areas then return home afterwards. Having always lived in an area where there are both local gigs and London only 30/45 mins away I’m rather fortunate on this subject.
  13. Up until this year, aside from when I bought a Gibson Les Paul Bass, pretty much every bass I’ve bought that wasn’t a Fender Precision, after the initial buzz had worn off I realised it wasn’t really for me. Given this I fully expected the same when I bought my Fender JMJ Mustang Bass but no, I really love these basses as well. Which is great as my back can’t deal with full size/weight basses anymore, so I might well have been on another lengthy journey.
  14. In both my current band and the last band none of us are/were keen on too much volume from the instruments in the monitors, preferring vocals to be in them. A bit of lead guitar, a bit of kick drum, a bit of bass but other than that leave the rest out. I suppose this is mostly due to lack of decent amount of time sound-checking as a properly prepared monitor mix is wonderful. When my old band supported Chelsea (the band not the football club) their singer Gene October is shall we diplomatically say a bit difficult and a bit exacting. Which ended up in simply the best on-stage sound I`ve ever had, we didn`t change anything for our requirements, no need, he`d done it all for us.
  15. There’s a thread on here where some Basschatters did a shootout between those, seems that there are differences from recall
  16. Great review, is this the v1 or v2 version? Edit - just reread and saw the switchable clean comment so v2.
  17. I saw U2 way back in the early 80s before their massiveness happened, used to quite like them back then, up until Pride really, didn’t like The Joshua Tree stuff at all when it came out but do like it now (note to self, buy it). Since then they’ve done some great songs but what I’ve learned is that in general I might like said great song but have been disappointed with the album it’s on.
  18. Not everyone likes everything, with usually it being older people not liking newer forms of music, something that benefited Keef well in his early career with the Stones being the young tearaway rebels. I`m similar to him, I can`t stand hip hop or rap, pretty much anything falling under that umbrella aside from Walk This Way by Aerosmith/Run DMC which is just superb imo. But in my defence this isn`t a new thing, I`ve disliked it all the way through.
  19. Under-rated Marshall bass amps in general. Probably as they`re better known as a guitar amp company, but their bass amps - especially the DBS - were great.
  20. Agree, I used MB gear for a while and what influenced me on this was hearing bassists use it in live settings, every time I heard a bassist whose tone I liked invariably it was a Fender bass into a Markbass amp.
  21. I’ve always tended to go for an amp that I think will have far too much power for my needs, then matched it with cabs that - on paper - have at least an equal but preferably a higher power handling. I figure this way I’m less likely to blow anything up, and unlikely to be in a position where I haven’t enough volume.
  22. For Precision pickups I aim for the below as a guide, then adjust for the individual bass: E - 2mm, A - 6mm, D - 7mm, G - 5mm I`d look at similar "slant" settings on the Jazz pickup.
  23. I wish I were still able to cart about gear like this as when I used one of these it was amazingly good.
  24. That’s a big selling point for me, being able to add the gain/drive without added volume.
  25. Probably like many, the first version I heard of I will Always Love You was Whitney Houstons. I think it`s an incredible version though I do now prefer Dolly Partons version as it has a vulnerability to it.
