  1. Most def Paul, in my last band we were up & down the motorways pretty much every weekend. Admittedly we got to the point where we were making pretty decent money, although we put it all back into the business as it enabled us to play all over - Greece, Netherlands to name a couple - and everything, flights, hotels, ferries, all paid for by the band. Looking at their gigs nowadays I’d say they’re now further up the ladder than when I left, which is great, it’s hard work but it can be done.
  2. I wish I’d realised that, still, better late than never
  3. I`ve recently gone short scale and it`s made a real difference, but am still thinking of going further and getting a Sandberg Superlight of some sort - short scale preferred. I figure it`s a worthy investment.
  4. Great looking bass set up there Tom, I bet your bassist had no probs hearing himself.
  5. I agree Dave, it might seem like the band being precious if they decide to not do it but there are too many things that can go wrong. And inevitably there`s the tugging at the heart strings for one bunch of people to work for nothing where everyone else is paid their going rate.
  6. This is a very good call. The last band I was in that did these types of gigs we had a line of monitors in front of the band, kept the irritants out of the way and we could hear things better, win win I`d say.
  7. Yep, most of the gigs I do I only need to bring my bass, if travelling heavy I also bring an amp head.
  8. Good point, maybe someone should hack his account and write “I like Winston Churchill”, he’ll soon be doing five.
  9. Yeah I saw that and thought it was weird that Gibson can’t make bolt on necks anymore.
  10. For me it’s mostly whatever Jam songs were in the charts (Eton Rifles, Tube Station, Going Underground, In The City etc) plus Pump It Up by Elvis Costello & The Attractions, My Sharona by The Knack and Girls & Boys by Blur.
  11. Good call, angled jack at one end definitely
  12. I go for 6metres.
  13. I had a Hartke set up for a while, though none of the items mentioned. I really liked it, great sounds and powerful too.
  14. That’s a good call
  15. Yep, I’ve got that one booked too
  16. I’ve found that my preferred sound is a bunch of 10s all going at the same time. This over the course of owning many variations, and playing through many many variations. The two cabs that weren’t 10s that I really liked were a Marshall VBC412 and an Ashdown ABM215, both sealed cabs I believe.
  17. It certainly typifies the 80s, best or not subjective but def up there
  18. If you put the dimensions up someone may be able to help. I can’t tell if it’s an original Compact or Midget, size will tell all.
  19. Flea Flea Flea Er, Flea I think they might stop there
  20. Prob same with male bassists for the majority of the people on the street. They might know Sting for example but would they know he plays bass?
  21. The Classic P is the widest of the Precision necks at 44mm, pretty much any other will be 42mm or less.
  22. @Telebass has clearly been on the phone to Noel & Ticketmaster and cleaning up as a result
  23. Nice one
  24. Good points Dan, if I were presented with this scenario now, given that I do backing vox I’d have no problem buying my own mic, mic stand, and possibly a monitor as well.
  25. Repairs to these cases is pretty easy, I used Sticks Like Shyt and it worked fine
