Ashdown did make a 4ohm ABM410, not sure if they still do but that would more than handle it.

Projected at proper posh gigs, and left behind at home for every other gig. Money well spent.

Yep, very near in sound to Rotosound steels but a fair bit cheaper and - for me at least - last about twice as long.

Nice sound but I’d bet isolated it’s a lot less bassy and a lot more middy than it sounds in that mix.

Yes, apparently he switched to Precisions a bit later in The Jam as he wanted a beefier tone live, and has played them predominantly since.

I don`t want to appear big-headed but no, I never think that I sound like crap, however balancing that out I never think wow I`m great either.

Yeah, Toneriders and Wilkinsons are pretty similar, both very good pickups and very close in sound to the Fender Custom Shop 62 imo.

I had a guitar with a tone pot that had a bypass setting on it and as others have said above, it was just like adding in a bit of extra high end.

Not at all, seeing as we don’t take any money from the band, it all goes back into the band/business.

I’ve not been for a few years now, due to gig schedules. Despite the slap-fest and the fact that I’m a regular Precision player I love the LBGS, it’s a good day out. Get to meet some Basschatters you only otherwise talk to on here and chat properly, plus listen to some very interesting talks from high profile bassists, and a chance to chat to the makers of some of the gear you use - for me that’s been Ashdown & Rotosound, and been very interesting. Sure the volume gets a bit much but hey, life ain’t perfect and I far prefer the fact that we have the LBGS to moan about than the alternative.

I’ve never listened to any of the material I’ve recorded and cringed but I have when I’ve watched live videos of the back in the day gigs when I was under the impression that I played better with a few drinks inside me. As I didn’t!!

So true, it’s the creative aspect that is so often overlooked.

So, I had a gig in Hamburg last night and in an attempt to make life that little bit easier for flying gigs I bought one of the above so as to reduce the amount of pedals I take - ok, only one but it’s still less, plus less setting up and less to take out of my case at airport security. But would it do the job, I’ve had other clip on tuners and in a live environment they just couldn’t track the E string. Well the answer is a resounding yes, worked a treat, even with music playing in the club it was fine on all strings. I’d read loads of reviews that said it was fine but you always have that nagging doubt, well that’s been locked away for another day, this little guy delivers. Anyone looking to reduce pedals or setup could do worse than add one of these in, and at under £25 doesn’t break the bank either.

Makes a lot of sense to me, small class D amp, rack mount tuner and maybe some form of effects/preamp in a rack. All safe & sound and no need for a pedalboard on stage, less setting up time, what’s not to like?

Played Monkeys Music Club in Hamburg last night. We’ve played there before but it’s always been mid-week so although the gigs have been good it’s never been spectacular. Well last night changed that, it was just amazing. Despite a long day (up at 5am for the plane) we were fully fired up and the packed crowd responded well. I should point out we were 2nd band on of 4. All bands played well and a great night was had by all, back at the hotel for 2am and am already awake, adrenaline probably. Flight back home at midday. Yes a long way to come for one gig but totally worth it.

That’s him, I missed them at Rebellion last year so am super excited.

I had one, nice and light/portable, and more importantly really sounded good. I’ve got a pair of the 210s as my practical rig. Not as scooped sounding and low-biased as their ABM cabs.

Good frontman yes, greatest ever no.

Mike Monroes album is on my list, going to see him in Nov when they’re on tour. Am far more excited than a 53 year old man should be.

Blood by Gimp Fist, one of the best street punk bands about, and bl00dy nice chaps too.

+1 - The Ashdown RMs are the nearest I’ve heard to proper big amp sound in a small Class D amp. On proper big stages the ABMs strength becomes apparent but in pubs/regular clubs etc the RMs are plenty good.
