  1. In an old band our drummer was crazy on RHCP, at the time By The Way was out so we did On Mercury, great song to play.
  2. Great, keep us all posted as I’ll def want one, assuming it will be on CD
  3. I think @Merton is ill………..
  4. I would, unless you get a soundcheck you may find the volume from the monitors unsuitable and it may just be a bugbear of mind but I hate seeing bands continually asking for up/down in the monitors, so if only a line check do backline as well.
  5. Give us a clue Tim, we need to send this guy some hate mail!
  6. Yeah pretty sure Fender Japan brought out FSR in natural around that time, doubt they’d have done it if US already doing that.
  7. I’d go for the preamp pedal, mainly because I gigged extensively in similar circumstances, both in UK and Europe. I only encountered a couple of soundmen that wouldn’t go from the pedal, everywhere else they were more than happy to do so. A small pedalboard with tuner, compressor & preamp/DI is easily managed, fits nicely in a rucksack and then no matter what set up is on stage the audience get the sound you intend them to get.
  8. That’s what we did in my last band, a rolling booking only changed by us if we were unable to do it for whatever reasons. Re flakey band mates, well the last band was great but a few bands ago we had the typical musician. Send a message out asking if available for a gig on Sat 11th. Invariably a reply would be received on Tue 14th saying yeah, I’m up for that. 🤦🏻‍♂️
  9. A true classic
  10. That is a great looking bass, the wear on it really makes it imo
  11. Great new Stranglers song, I wonder who did the keys on it, was it recorded before Daves sad passing or someone new, as if the latter they’ve nailed it.
  12. Awesome rigs there
  13. I found the same thing with the Schroeder cabs that I had as well.
  14. The best way, Bill. I recall some years ago getting a great onstage sound at soundcheck, just the right balance of everything, going out front to hear the whole band and being dismayed to hear a wall of sludge/boom. So went back, adjusted & got a sound that imo was too middy/not enough lows, out front where the audience would be it was perfect. So lived with the onstage sound, and from them on used that method,
  15. That’s good to hear Dave, I don’t want too much of a difference, just enough to reduce the boom and the effort on the cones a bit.
  16. The Korean Squiers are very good basses, def worth a look I’d say
  17. Likewise
  18. Sold One Seymour Duncan Precision Quarterpound pickup, including attached pots/capacitor/input-jack, all you need do is solder your ground wire on and ready to go. Price includes delivery in the UK
  19. Really like that, excellent song, great production and love the attack on the drums
  20. Great colour co-ordination Andy, looks really good
  21. Classic set up
  22. My thoughts too
  23. Yeah I’ve got a Tech21 Q-strip on way which has an HPF on it, think removing all that excess is the way to go.
  24. For my uses most amps seem to have the bass just a bit too low, but then I suppose manufacturers have to take into account those that detune, and 5-string basses. When I listen to the bass sounds of the songs that I grew up with in the 70s & 80s they’re not deep low down bass at all, though at they time they seemed so.
