  1. I’m with you Paul, I know the sound I want so to me it matters neither where I start or end up as long as I get there.
  2. Those V4s are cracking basses, punch way above their price tag in quality, playability and sound.
  3. That’s the ideal JD bass, well done 👏🏻
  4. Yes from recall in Bass Guitar Mag he was interviewed and said that he had his trusty `62 (subsequently stolen) and a Mex Precision which he put a tort plate on and which he did his gigs with. Good enough for a Pistol = good enough for me!
  5. Not necessarily budget gear, but after years of gigging US Fenders I’m now gigging a Mexican Fender. Ok I’ve made a few changes to it, tuners/bridge/nut/string-retainer, but these are more for tuning stability than as upgrades. I’ve changed the pickup but again this is more to match the sound of my US ones than as an upgrade. In reality I could have left it stock.
  6. I’d be happy to pick it up at Scratchwood services (J3 on M1) and drop off at Northampton services (J15a on M1) if any help.
  7. That explains me then. The latter of course, not the former.
  8. 2 really nice looking basses there, really sing out the decades they represent.
  9. On the punk/Oi scene I’ve seen a lot of Mex Fenders, Squiers & Epiphones in the hands of pro bassists & guitarists.
  10. I played a Masterbuilt Strat last year, easily the best guitar I’ve ever played. Whether or not it’s worth the price tag is a different matter, I just know how great that guitar was to play, and the sound, even through a practice amp there was no ice-pickiness, just clear as a bell but with a richness to it I’ve never heard from any other Strat.
  11. Yep, The Pretenders are a great band, unlike many of the older singers Chrissie Hynde has managed to keep her voice, possibly through always singing quite deep rather than at the top of her range.
  12. I really don’t know how everyone puts up with this. I’d have to stop gigging if it happened to bands I was in. At 56 I have to acknowledge that should I lump someone that does it when I’m on stage I’m now in the more than likely position of losing should things proceed. Makes me glad to play punk/Oi, anyone who ends up on stage is either part of an overall stage invasion (and generally friends or at least people known) or has just been thrown there by the rest of the crowd and gets off asap.
  13. Don’t know anything about these basses, but why have 6 when you can have 7?
  14. I have two: 1 - Never Mind The Bollocks Here`s The Sex Pistols 2 - Appetite for Destruction - Guns N Roses No filler tracks, great production & energy In a close third place is Back in Black by AC/DC, just a couple of songs on there that don`t hit the spot for me
  15. Yeah, pretty much an ideal set up that
  16. Probably the only 210 I’d think as being up to it is the Barefaced 210. But to be honest Stu I’d look at getting another of the same 112, assuming it’s 8ohm of course. Not sure about your band or gigs you do but in general I look at most 210s as being just not quite enough. If a single cab is def your intent then in that position I’d be checking out 212s.
  17. Classic colour scheme
  18. Totally agree re Paul Young, he had a great voice but saw a programme with him singing on it and it was such a shame, that wonderful voice had completely gone. Who be JBJ? Ah, just worked it out, yes he now sounds hideous. Should watch the Living On a Prayer (Goat Edition) - Bon Jovi - YouTube - probably better than he can manage at present.
  19. It`s funny but recently I`ve arranged a few parcels via Parcelforce directly and they`ve been cheaper than going via Interparcel/Parcel2go etc, whereas a few years back it was def the other way round.
  20. TC Spark Booster (full sized one) I reckon would fit the bill nicely.
  21. Only having to go three times a night, luxury, pure luxury...................
  22. I know flats last a long time but that’s getting a bit much. Darn good strings tho, just scored a set off here at a much better price 😀
  23. Looks great, and I think those eq points are pretty well thought out, maybe treble a bit high but imo all a fair bit more useable than how they used to be. The stock Markbass sound is one that always seems to fit nicely in a mix.
  24. Or if you’re only going to be playing the one bass but a Precision & swap the necks?
  25. Sounds fairly typical, I just wonder why, when they can hear it themselves, that they think it sounds ok. I’m sure Ruts were good though, always put on a good show and are decent chaps, Leigh especially.
