I run mine pretty much flat but dial back/cut the treble a tad as it's a very bright head. Then I may engage the bump for a touch more low end if required. Alternatively, experiment with boosting the low mid to e.g. 2pm and bass to e.g. 1pm and see which you prefer. I don't really use the overdrive but if I do I keep it very low for just a little growl and then use the edge to control how bright it sounds. It's a great amp with tons of power through an efficient 8ohm or 4 ohm cab. Cabs colour amps as well so I find that it sounds full, punchy and tight through my Genz 2x12 4ohm cab, and clear, punchy and more piano-tone-like through my LFSys Monaco 8ohm 1x12 cab. I have to dial the treble right back with the latter cab! Play around with it, try the switches and then disengage them and try adjusting the EQ in a similar fashion.... see which you prefer. It's a very responsive head! Enjoy!

I don't think anyone's mentioned it being a Kipenbacker special order. That will never happen. It would be standard NS2 shape.

Love mine! ๐๐๐

It was a new 'transitional' model in the early 90's when Stuart Spector was re-establishing his brand after the Kramer bankruptcy. He used the name SSD (Stuart Spector Design) and tried some new shapes/designs like this one, alongside the tried and tested NS2 shape, until he got his brand name of 'Spector' back.... This was one of the first Asian (Korean) models he had produced for the brand and it is of very high quality (maple, neck-thru, EMG BTS circuit). Kind of a precursor to the NS2000/4 model that came along soon afterwards...

GK are very popular in R&B/soul/funk circles. Check out the Legacy 800 head.

It does have a little bit of neckdive, but nothing a good strap can't counter...

1. No, the 'Classic' range has a weight relieved body. 2. EMG BTS is excellent. My 2nd fave after the Haz/LHZ. 3. No ๐๐คฃ

Steer clear of using a Spector with monster cables. They have a habit of ruining the input socket.

Bought a lovely 50th Ann Squier P Bass from Ash. Bass as described, great comms and easy collection. Cheers Ash! Recommended ๐

I know there are quite a few people, myself & Eldon included, who haven't bought one because of the poor bursts. They'd sell even more if they sorted them out

Like one of these please ๐๐๐ธ

Dark purple quilt would be awesome, not pinky-purple though...

I have an original solid maple Euro 4 (pre-LX) in that exact colour with a lovely quilt but without the DW neck. Looks and plays lovely! It was a standard colour back in the day....

Congrats! The holy grail ๐๐๐

They WERE there, but only one head and cab on the new European distributors stall in the guitar area of the show. NOT the new heads though as they haven't shipped over here yet.

Full curved NS body shape.

I own 41 x Spectors of all years and models. I would take a ยฃ2k Euro over a current ยฃ5k US model any day. There's just not enough difference to justify ยฃ3k and the resale price drop on a US model would be more substantial due to the smaller market at that price. The thinnest neck is the 'Doug Wimbish' model (think 'Jazz' bass). Most comfortable necks are found on the old Kramer Spector NS2 (US), NS2A, NS2B, NS2C (all Korean) and Spector (Euro) 'Ian Hill' signature models (all are discontinued). On current models I believe the Ethos and Dimension HP have the most comfortable gloss necks. The Pulse II has an outstandingly comfortable smooth satin roasted maple neck. The Euro model does have a slightly chunkier neck but is the most accurate to the legendary US NS2 in all other ways, at a cheaper price and is the most popular model. There are various Euros though. The LX, the LT (with Barts - yuk!) and the weight relieved Euro Classic. IMHO the best all round value for money for me is the Pulse II though. Looks and feels great and with a preamp upgrade to the LHZ, or an EMG BTS it becomes a monster. https://www.spectorbass.com/series/pulse-ii-series/ If you need any further assistance please reach out!
