  1. From Facebook: I never thought I’d have to write this. But after 25 years of loyalty, trust, and building something truly world-class, I owe it to myself—and to everyone who believed in me—to speak the truth. I gave my heart, my soul, and my engineering to create what many of you came to know through Phil Jones Bass, Airpulse, and Acoustic Energy. I built it all from the ground up—every design, every driver, every product, with passion and precision. Years ago, I even supported my business partner in his U.S. immigration journey. I wrote the letter that helped him secure his green card. I believed in him. I thought we shared the same vision. But now—without my consent—that same partner has shut the company down behind my back. He is attempting to erase my legacy. He has destroyed not just a business, but the livelihoods of good people who stood by us. But I will not disappear quietly. I am now looking for a new partner or investor—someone who believes in doing things the right way. Someone who believes in British sound, innovation, and integrity. This isn't just about business. It’s about protecting a lifetime of work—and finishing what I started, in the right hands. If you know someone who wants to be part of rebuilding something meaningful—contact me directly. I still have everything that matters: The knowledge, the vision, and the fire to finish this story my way. – Phil Jones Designer – AE1 | Phil Jones Bass | Airpulse
  2. I'm even closer, near Sandhurst. Send me a PM if you want to try my Monaco!
  3. Just got home from seeing the wonderful ELO Experience with @Hamster & @Kebabkid at Epsom Playhouse with our very own @TPJ on bass and backing vocals! A fantastic show, great bass playing and so many great songs! Catch them if you can! 🎶🎸😎
  4. Until recently, 5 string PJ sets were hard to come by. The new Euro CST series has a 5 PJ set though! Of course, in any other Spector 5 - should you wish, you can swap the soapbar humbuckers for Reverse P & J EMGs in soapbar housing.
  5. Tell them that 'Spector bassist Gary' sent you. They'll look after you!
  6. See if you can pop along to Bass Direct and try out a Pulse II, a Euro LX/Classic and a Dimension HP. See which you prefer....
  7. Pulse II is a great entry to Spectorland and THAT tone, especially if you upgrade the preamp. If you can afford it and don't mind a slightly thicker neck then a Euro 4LX will get you there straight away. 👍
  8. Great review and I echo all your sentiments. This cab is seriously impressive!
  9. I absolutely love my LFSys F1 range Monaco cab. Sounds phenomenal.... Looks like @stevie has now released his new more 'wallet-friendly' BlueLine range. Go give them a look.... I'm sure they're wonderful! https://www.lfsys.co.uk/bassguitarproducts
  10. You sold a Euro for £750?!?!?!? 🤯
  11. To double down on what some others have said re: Spector... The Pulse II is the best bang for your buck, sounding, feeling and playing Spector in your price range, especially if you can get a used one. Keep your eyes open and you should be able to grab a used one at the top of your budget! Otherwise you may be able to get a used Spector Ethos which is also excellent.
  12. Need to move this on now to make space. Make me a SENSIBLE offer and it's yours.
  13. This comedy clip has Gary Tibbs make a guest appearance at the end as Store Manager/Security guard.... (that's him on the right in the video still)
  14. Maybe get Bass Direct to handle it for you mate....and allow them to take a small cut for their assistance?
  15. Considering how popular they were at the time you really don't see many original 80's Charvel, Jackson or Kramer PJ basses for sale. Someone must be hoarding them all!
  16. Saw Adam & The Ants at the Dominion Theatre in 1981 on the Prince Charming Tour. My 1st big rock gig and he was a huge influence on me wanting to take up bass.... Great player!
  17. Love my Monaco with my electric basses! Clear, punchy, authoritative and full with wonderful dispersion. Couldn't ask for more!
  18. See you at the final gig Nige!
  19. I use a Phaser when we play it in one of the covers bands I go out with... Seems to do the job close enough... just add some playing dynamics.
  20. There's never a bad time to buy a new Spector
  21. Simple fact is that in theatres, even more so than clubs & pubs, getting the cleanest, clearest controllable volume is a must. It makes everyone's job so much easier when using IEMs and clean preamp feeds to the desk. All settings can be saved and duplicated each night with just slight adjustments out front on the PA for the room ambience. I speak from experience having done an extensive theatre rock show tour myself with amps and then other theatre shows with silent stages/preamps.
  22. I flew from London, England to Toronto to collect a black Spector NS2 and a white Spector NS2. I flew to San Francisco to collect a white Spector NS4.
  23. Two gigs in the last week or so.... Canadian melodic rockers 'Harem Scarem' turned in a fantastic set at Camden Underworld last Monday. Huge riffs and melodies and probably the most underrated rock guitarist of the last 30 years in Pete Lesperance! Sunday saw me visiting Hoxton Hall (a quaint old variety venue in East London) for the first time.... to see Yacht Rock kings 'Young Gun Silver Fox' with support from the excellent Joel Sarakula! Wonderful sets of 'west coast' sounds dripping with Fender Rhodes, tight bass grooves with a Doobie bounce... and luscious vocals. Simply fantastic!
  24. Finally entering the 21st Century for depping and will be using a new Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ Tablet and a setlist/music app..... but I need to get a decent quality, reliable page turning pedal. Seems there's lots of choices out there. Who's using what and would recommend? Cheers!
