Oh, and whilst on the subject of Steiberger designs (He did the original Spector design, then Warwick poached it for the Streamer (right ?))
Correct. +1 for the Ned Steinberger designed Spector NS shape
3. You might want to put this in the 'Wanted' section....
4.
Hey Guys. Im trying to order a bass from Ishibashi but am stuck on the ordering page. Ive filled all the details in other than the Instalment box. Not sure what that is. Im gussing its the amount but do any of you know if it is? Cheers. going for this one in VWH. Not sure about the colour, would prefer OWH but its cheaper than getting the 50's classic. PB62-78US
If I were you I'd get this one.... even if it takes a little longer to arrive. Why potentially be disappointed for the sake of a few weeks wait? It's the same price... same body details..... and Olympic White.... PB70-78US
5. VERY nice!! Just fuelling my GAS for a Jap 75 Reissue.... mwah ha ha!!!
6.
so is the Denmark street one a MIA or a CIJ? CraftedinJapan.co.uk can do that for £540 inc delivery. Here or this "brand new just arrived never used" one may be still for sale http://forums.pineapster.co.uk/viewtopic.php?=&p=444492 May save a few quids
It's CIJ. The link to CraftedInJapan shows the rosewood one. I'm after a maple one The bass in that final link was sold a while back, cheers anyway!
7.
I dont suppose you saw any 50's classics in HB did you? Im still confused about all this White stuff. On the Ishibashi site the PB70-78US seems to be showing as White (of some sort) but the actual model colour seems to be OWB which as we know is not as white. This is putting me off. I really llike the Arctic white without any hint of yellow. Ill go and have a look tomorrow.
Sorry, not sure on 50's classics.... I wasn't really looking for them... I think you're confused. The PB70-78US on Ishibashi is OWH (Olympic White) and this is exactly what it is.... full on white with NO hint of yellow!
8. I have a Staccato MG bass. One of only approx 35 made I believe.... Nice bass, but it sits in my collection and isn't used live....
9. Just went into the Bass Cellar in Denmark St, London & they've got two 'vintage white' JB75-100US basses in there at £775 each That's £250 more than you could expect to pay (including delivery and ALL taxes/handling) if ordered direct from Ishibashi (approx £520)! Crazy..... The good news is that the 'Vintage White' is actually more a light cream colour (aged white) than the sort of yellow illustrated above. I think that's made my mind up. After Xmas, Ishibashi here I come! They also had the PB70-78US in 'Olympic White' (real white!) priced at £775 too! This is even more crazy as you can get one (inc delivery/all taxes/handling etc) from Ishibashi for approx £425 (£350 cheaper!!)
10.
Just love tracking the parcels I do worry about the carbon footprint though: China to the US then LEBANON, NH MEMPHIS, TN STANSTED GB Not here yet .. Monday I guess ..
Did it arrive? Thoughts?
11. Actually, I just found this pic.... doesn't look very 'yellow' to me..... http://www.gakkiya.jp/gb_fenderjapan_cjb_jb7590us.html and here.... http://www.fenderjapan.co.jp/fender/2007fe...s/jb75100us.htm
12.
Nah It's custardy. Here's my old 1989 MIA Standard .. The drum kit and my shirt are white.. The bass is very much a yellow colour. It had a white plate on it when it arrived and looked even more like a bowl of Bird's then ... Imagine a white thing that was hung up in the roof space of a pub for 30 years (when smoking was allowed). It's supposed to be that colour I think ...
Oh well, looks like I may have to try my first 'make a bass from parts' project..... Warmouth/Allparts/WD here I come....
13. Forget about 'smiley face graphics'. It's ALL about the MIDS in a band situation....
14.
the ones that spring to mind are Styx,
NICE...... superb band..!
15.
im also about to pull the trigger on a bass i have actually owned before a vwh 75ri jazz from ishibashi, i had mine for less than 24hrs before due to circumstances forcing a sale, but ive not stopeed wanting a white jazz for like two years now and its the best compromise i can find. Really id like oly white with the maple neck but that would mean building myself from WD etc so i decided just to go for the 75 again. I even had an abortive relationship with one of those 'signature' basses from buildabass
So is the Vintage White very yellow/blonde? Do you have any pics of the one you had? I was really kinda hoping it would be close to Olympic White.....
16. Never had a problem with my SVT3. Been super reliable and sounds great...
17. Cheers Ped! Yep, superb aren't they?! The build quality and sound are unbelievable...
18. Thanks for the PM's. As stated, I'm really not up for any trades (unless you've got a recent Fender Jap Jazz 75 reissue in white with maple board and white blocks!)....
19.
cheers. ill see if i can understand that website. I think the bass in your pic is very similar to the one i mentioned above. very tasty IMO.
Indeed, except that the one in my avatar pic (of Peter Cetera) is a white 70's JAZZ bass
20.
I just looked on the site posted by thumbo and they have a lovely white 70's re issue with USA vintage pup for £599. Thats very tempting and just in the budget once i sell the 55-01. Am i to assume then that the Jap basses aren't easy to come by in shops? I didn't know that. Guess thats why i haven tseen any ;-)
I'm definitely up for getting a Jap P and a Jap J bass in the New Year. Best bet is to import them from Ishibashi. Even with shipping, taxes etc it will work out cheaper than from GuitarEmporium.....
21. My GAS knowing no bounds I am considering selling the following cab to raise some cash. I would be very sad to see it go, especially as these things are not only holding their value, but gaining value every day! What we have here is a classic late 80's/early 90's Mesa/Boogie Diesel cab loaded with the highly desirable EV speakers and pumping out a VERY loud 450W at 4ohms.... The speaker array is a 15", 10" & 2x6" & a horn with a couple of large bass ports along the side. This particular cab is in excellent condition, probably one of the finest examples still out there (having only had light use) and comes with castors for ease of movement. The only real damage is a slight part of the 'M' in the logo having broken off, and a light dent in the 10" cone (easily rectifiable), neither of which affect the monster tone in any way! As some of you may be aware, this cab is the choice of Paul McCartney and he can always be seen with couple of them behind him on tour. Cab would need to be collected or I could deliver within 30 miles of Kingston Upon Thames for a small petrol contribution. Any interest?
22. ....or break the ramains of the neck off and then fit a bulb/holder and lampshade on above the body. Voila.... very cool bass lamp!
23. I hate Parcelforce but had to use them at a buyers request last week. I sent a bass to Finland and it arrived within 4 days, fine.... however, they were late picking it up, showed little customer service and were unfriendly. Though I guess they should get a +1 (reluctantly) for completing the delivery successfully I feel like giving them a ZERO for the overall process. I also sent a guitar to the US a couple of weeks back by FedEx (48hr delivery) and that arrived safe & sound. Excellent timely pick-up, helpful & friendly staff and delivery within deadline. Excellent! +1
24. Wow.... that's weird! I've never heard of anyone having any problems.... Did you try it in different buildings as well as with different basses? Just wondering if it was something to do with the mains in your house...?
25.
I think if you own it all with the purpose of it making you money then maybe you are betting off doing something else.
+1 I love everything about my basses, playing music at home or 'live'.... and the social aspect of being in bands as well. If your sole reason for owning gear & playing is 'making money' then maybe you're not getting all you can out of the whole experience of being a musician?
