I'm there! Gigs be damned..... this is 'first in the book'

Wow.... check mate! EXACTLY the same thing happened to me a few months back with a band I formed 27 years ago. Pretty much the same 3 character traits for my other 3 band members too....!! They removed me from my band admin rights on Facebook as well.....Freaky!! Sure we weren't both in the same band?!?!? lol! You're right though. A HUGE relief and bigger better things are often just around the corner! I'm now out on the theatre circuit in a much better band and collaborating elsewhere with higher profile and better musicians. The rest of them - same old egos, lies and the sticky-floor club circuit merry-go-round...

This Friday I'll be seeing our fellow basschatter Bobby Kewley playing bass for The Christians & Altered images on a triple bill with Midge Ure! Sunday will be Mr Big at Shep Bush, then hopefully next Friday Cloudbusting (Kate Bush tribute) at Putney. After that, possibly Simply Dan in Raynes Park on the Sunday.... Corduroy in Guildford on the following Friday and then Airrace/Lionheart in Camden on the Saturday! Phew....!!

Lol! Even trying to get this message to open took a minute or two! Looking forward to it all working more smoothly..... but well done to all involved

The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan at the O2 Arena last Sunday! Steely Dan were fantastic.... but the Doobie Brothers were something else! Energetic, versatile, passionate and so much more. Absolute masters of their craft whether playing blues, rock, r'n'b, folk or any of their other styles...!!

Best new bass: Original Japanese made Yamaha BB3000 in black sparkle with gold hardware. A monstrous thru neck, passive bass with so much punch it sounds active! Honourable mentions: Original US made Jackson Ontario Concert Bass. Active EMGs, thru neck and lots of RAWK!!! Also, a lightweight but superpunchy old EMG loaded Guild Pilot. A Superjazz on steroids! Best amp/outboard gear: Zoom B3 - SO useful!! Worst thing: Nothing!

Fantastic review, thanks! I've always been impressed with Jeff Genzler's products and still own his fantastic GB Neox212 cab which to my mind is the best value 2x12 on the market.

More info would be useful. Where in London? Covers or Original material? What style/influences? etc etc etc

If you want a vintage looking Thunderbird then generally you buy a vintage looking Thunderbird or a copy (lull etc) that looks like one. If you don't.... then you don't.... This bass sounds great but ticks no boxes for me..... I'd rather see a modern version (looks, design, circuity) or a traditional copy. Just my opinion...

Great song, fine bass line and great writer/producer/bassist in Alan Tarney. Loved his mid-period songwriting/producing/bass work with Cliff Richard - melodic rock/AOR in all but name

A fantastic day - so many great people and instruments/gear. I've always said that bassists are the greatest musicians to be around - No airs and graces - just nice people and this was proven tenfold on Saturday! As said before - big thanks to Nik, Colin, Ped, Mrs Hamster and all involved in organising the day and keeping it running smoothly. Big ups to Davey, Lee and Steve for their great talks too Same time next year?!
