    Hey all, after some advice. The hard drive on my dell pc has failed. It's toast basically and, as the machine is out of warranty, Dell want an arm and a leg to send a new one. Everything was backed up so there's no problem with lost work but as someone who likes to look on tye bright side I see this as a chance to up the performance of the pc a bit. I use it for some light work stuff but also use it to run reaper and Lightworks. Can anyone recommend tye best upgrade to get the most out of it. Currently has 16gb ram and an Intel core i7 processor. Am considering getting a 7200 rpm hdd and a ssd to run music stuff. All suggestions gratefully received.

    I went fully self employed three years ago so that I never had to turn down gigs. I was sick of waking up not knowing where I'd be working or what time I'd finish. I wish I'd done it years ago. My type of work is pretty flexible so I can usually take whatever time I want when I want and I love being my own boss.

    I've gone bass - tuner - synth pedal - xr18 on a gig using in ears. Was absolutely fine and was able to get a really good foh sound and a lovely sound in my ears. Didn't have to work the eq too hard and just added the preset bass compression. I've got a beautiful aguilar DB750 and am this close to selling it and replacing with something cheap and cheerful for the odd occasions I want an amp for stage monitoring or dep gigs.

    BTW the EH SYNTH9 sounds terrible to me in comparison with the FI.

    Had my Future impact about 3 months now. No issues at all with tracking, easy to navigate between patches and sounds killer. Yours sounds like its possibly a dud. I know this is a stupid question and I'm not questioning your ability to operate it but when changing bank are you depressing the Edit/Bank Up knob firmly whilst turning? Have you got the Parameter knob pointing directly at one of the parameters (if its pointing between two different parameters it will flicker a bit). Finally, and I genuinely not trying to ask daft questions, have you set the input gain right? If i set mine and then adjust vol / eq on the bass it can affect how well it tracks. The usual 2 green lights coming on with the odd flash of the red on louder notes is fine. Finally have you connected with midi to a pc? Might be worth trying a factory reset.

His brief was to make a 2x12 with one driver above the other in a cab that is an exact replica of the 4x12s Marshall supply him.

    Thanks Cairobill,it is indeed an awesome cab. I'm contemplating just using a nice preamp pedal and a Barefaced Fr800 now tho as I don't need the stage volume anymore.

    I've got a very similar Elwood L but with bassculture pickups and a 3 band eq. It's a beautiful thing and the build quality is remarkable. This is a very good price for what is an extremely versatile and comfortable top notch bass.

[/quote] I used them with a sansamp and then tried them with a line 6 pod with speaker sits. Finally I tried them through a digital mixer using the built in eq. Tye problem is that the yamaha are really designed as tops and need a sub to get the bottom end you can get from a bass cab.

    My DB750 is the best amp I've ever owned or played by some margin. I'd expect this to fly out the door.

[/quote] That's definitely a sensible call. Thinking maybe a nice combo that doesn't have too much of a coloured cab sound and an fx loop might work.

    I had dxr12s but they didn't sound great for bass at all. We've got some rcf745s which do sound great with bass but they're the main pa cabs and as I don't own them outright I can't take them for dep gigs which is where I'd need backline.

    As I venture further and further into the world of in ear monitoring I'm becoming more and more tempted to ditch my amp. There will always be odd occasions where I need one tho so I'm thinking of going down the preamp pedal route with a powered cab I can just plug in whenever I need backline. The Barefaced fr800 looks absolutely perfect but is pretty pricey. Is there another option for powered cab I should be looking at?

    Whoop, paid a visit to Paul at CIEM in Stanstead Abbots today and had the ear impressions done for re-shelling my UE900s. Nice guy and very professional. 6 week wait now whilst my UE900s are sent to California to be transformed into custom moulds. Anyone considering doing this should be aware that the £199 quoted for reshells will rise to £300 by the time you factor in the required impression work and new cables (existing ones won't fit once they are reshelled.

    Seriously considering picking up two 4ohm retro two 10 cabs as my modular set up. The one I tried before Christmas was very very nice.
