1. More hit (with a customs charge) than miss in my experience. Best brace yourself.
2. Hopefully it was just a bit of a rant and he will calm down. One question regarding the no-notes demand: Is he also the lead singer?
3.
What's this forum's golden rule - no pics, it didn't happen!! Thanks for joining Heathy!
I will submit pics - but you still may have to take my word for it! Yours non-hirsutely Steve
4. Joined. I will be attempting to grow a 'tache in the style of Frank Zappa - you will probably have to take my word for it!
5.
very nice check out the first couple of minutes of this (ike willis)
Wow. Hadn't seen this one before. Thanks for posting!
6. I have just noticed a thin crack in the laquer on the underside of the neck joint. It won't show up on a photo, but I have taken £50 off the price in view of this.
7. I have SWMBO approval, as long as I sell my Stingray first!
8. To quote Master Yoda: "Always two there are, no more, no less. A master and an apprentice".
9.
That's probably the ultimate bass tone right there.
Fixed
10.
That colour is amazing! I'd love that with a pearloid scratchplate.
Hadn't thought of that. Tempting, though, isn't it?
11.
I imagine you named this fine bass after the equally fine Gail Ann Dorsey?
Indeed I did (I play in a Bowie tribute band). Cheers
12. Everyone, meet Gail. Gail is a ‘trans purple’ active 3 band eq Musicman Stingray, with a black pickguard and a maple neck/fretboard. According to the EB forum, her DOB was 30 January 2002. Her birthplace was California, USA. She can be yours for[s] £800[/s] now £750. Musicman hard case included. There is not a mark on her ashwood body*, but it is possible to feel one tiny dent if you gently caress the back of her neck (this won’t show up on a photograph). *Edit 14-10-13. I have noticed a crack in the laquer on the underside of the neck joint - hence price reduction. I have owned Gail for a year now. Her previous owner had barely touched her. Not really interested in trades, although some of the P basses on here look interesting... Anyway, here are some pics:
13. They have really gone down in value since he shot his wife.
14. Could get my rig and the drums (with drummer) in my Focus C-Max. However, when we first started we could get the whole band and gear into a Fiesta. Don't ask me how, but it worked.
15. I recently bought a second hand Stingray and I am over the moon with it. It has given me the tone I have always wanted! However, I have noticed a reduced volume from the G string when plugged in. I have looked on t'internet and found that this can be common with Stingrays. Has anyone else on here noticed this, and if so do you have any tips on how it can be overcome? I have tried raising the pickup height, but this has had no impact. Can the pole height be adjusted easily? I would appreciate any thoughts that you have, and apologise in advance if this has been dealt with elsewhere - I couldn't find anything. Cheers
16. I have used a Hipshot D-tuner for the past 20+ years. But the answer really depends on the song, the line you're playing, and what everyone else is doing.
17. I use a bass big muff. No loss of low end on the 'dry' setting.
18. Another one here. Seems perfectly natural to me, the same as holding your fork in your left and knife in your right hand ('Righties' tend to swap hands when they are only using a fork - freaks), and holding a computer mouse in your right hand (so I can make notes at the same time). Got lots of funny looks in India when I was using my left hand for everything!
19. I was really gutted to hear this. Before going to the Bass Merchant I had a really negative view of music shops. Although I wasn't a regular customer, whenever I went there it was a real joy. Best of luck for the future guys.
20. What about suggesting that you all give the band a break for a while, doing your best not to burn any bridges for the future. Sorting out boundaries with a partner can be a minefield and he needs time to resolve them. You definitely don't want to get in the middle of that.
21. It's unlikely to improve the sound out front that much if you can't really hear yourself. I would suggest alternating approaches to see what makes you feel happiest. Failing that, stand at the front of the stage in the middle so you can hear both cabs
