1. Max bought a bass off me and he couldn't have been a better buyer! Nice guy and highly recommended
2. Spent a pleasant hour with Jack today picking up a gorgeous Lakland Duck Dunn. He was kind enough to let me play his AC 5 string which was stunning and Status PJ which was utterly astounding! Thanks again Jack and if you ever do decide to part with the Status...
3. Bought a beautiful Fretless off Pete. It arrived super-fast and is better than I could have imagined. Thanks Pete

7. I think Tredders was looking for one of these. MIght be worth PMing him
8. Got one for sale here if anyone is interested: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=100364&hl=
9. Thanks for the offers of trades. I am however really looking for a sale on this I'd also sell for £410 without the gigbag and with Rotosound Rounds fitted
10. Bought a stunning Stingray off of Mario. It's by far the best Ray I've played. I don't think the deal could have gone any smoother and Mario is very easy to deal with. Very happy
11. For sale is a John East MMSR4 preamp for a Stngray bass. It includes the chrome knobs, pots, electrics etc but not the Crescent-shaped control plate. This Preamp includes a mid-sweep as well as the 3 band eq (treble, mid and bass). However, when the mid pot is on the centre detent, the preamp functions exactly the same way and is voiced like the 70's Stingray preamp. Controls: Single knob- volume Single knob- late 70's MM treble Single knob- late 70's MM Bass Stack knob- mid/mid frequency sweep John East's website has far more information thatn my little brain could possibly digest, although I have just broken my record for typing the word "knob" (previous best 4) It does sound wonderful and is ingreat working order. A new one sells at £157.50 excluding the control plate, so I have priced this at £105 inc delivery ONO.
12. I know Dave (OBBM) has a feedback topic already, but I just wanted to write something to express my gratitude to him. In the 3 years I've been frequenting Basschat, I have made a number of real and "virtual" friends online and having recently lost one of those virtual friends the forum has been a much colder place IMHO. Having known Dave for those 3 years over which time I have bought, sold, traded, visited, sought advice from and watched him gig, he is someone I have considered to be a friend for some time. Anyway, I recently posted a topic seeking help in rewiring a Stingray back to the original configuration. I had a number of replies offering help and assistance for which I'm grateful. Dave actually offered not only to help, but to do the work himself!! I took the bass around on Sunday and left it with him to perform his magic. Despite redecorating the house and fulfilling orders for his excellent cable business, Dave PM'd me today to tell me all the work was done and it was ready to be picked up. He had repaired the broken circuit board, emailed Ernie Ball to get the wiring diagrams and reinstalled the preamp completely free of charge and wouldn't accept a penny from me. I am totally overwhelmed by his technical expertise but most of all by his generosity and wanted to share a very pleasant, positive experience in what has been a pretty miserable time on Basschat. Thanks again Dave
13.
Nick, bring it over and I'll do it for you.
My new man-crush Many thanks Dave. I'll drop you a PM
14.
Stick it in then.
I don't know how to connect it back. That's the problem!!
15.
Do you have the original pre-amp?
HI Yes, I do have to original preamp
16. Guys I need some help from people far more technically-minded than myself I was lucky enough to buy Nologic69's (Mario's) Stingray HS from him this week. The bass is amazing and easily the best Stingray I have played. It is however fitted with one of John East's Musicman Preamps (a 4 band one) and while I'm an admirer of John's excellent kit, I want to restore it back with the original preamp. I opened up the cavity last night and honestly would not know where to begin!! I'm okay with a soldering iron but my expertise runs to being able to rewire a P Bass pickup and change the occasional pot Any help or guidance would be gratefully received
17.
Hey OHM, I'm a bit confused/thick, is the bass for sale the original Mike Dirnt, or if it's been moded what has been changed??? Cheers F61
Hi Farmer It's a standard Mike Dirnt with just a change of pickguard and strings. Nothing else has been modded at all. Cheers Nick

I never met Si in the flesh but we struck up a great online friendship and he was always a pleasure to talk to and a thoroughly nice bloke. My sympathies and love go out to everyone who knew him. Ironically we were due to meet up a few weeks ago when he travelled down for his uncle's funeral. Sadly, circumstances meant that we couldn't meet. God bless you Si; you are a true gent and Basschat will be a far colder place without you.
19.
These are cracking and much underrated basses. Any sound clips of it with the Labellas I was thinking of putting a set on mine
Thanks mate No sound clips I'm afraid but it does sound wonderful and really smooth
20. Played at The Mad Hatter in Surbiton last night (new venue for us). From the outside it looked like a typical "Builders on Coke" pub and some of the clientele only added to this impression. However, after sorting out the sound during the first few numbers we eneded up playing for over 3 hours in total and the crowd wanted more and more. Great gig resulting in a fistful of re-bookings for the rest of the year and 1 private 50th birthday party. Got home past 2am and had the usual ringing ears and adrenaline-filled "can't sleep" night
21.
Can I ask what's happening with the body?
Need to get a decent set up done but I was intending on keeping the body and fitrting a new model P Bass neck to it. Happy to potentially sell the bass complete though. It's the 2 tone sunburts version and is lovely
22. For sale is a Fender Mike Dirnt P Bass in fantastic condition in 2 tone sunburst. It is made in Mexico and is in wonderful condition with no obvious wear or dings. Build quality is superb and there is some nice figuring on the back of the neck. The body grain is gorgeous too. It's in full working order and no issues whatsoever and was set up and fitted with La Bella Deep Talkin Flats recently. It also comes with a brand new Ritter padded gigbag which cost me £40. It also comes with both the original and a black 51 P Bass pickguard that is currently fitted. The vintage 59 pickup sounds (as my Father In Law would say) "Hooooj". I gigged with this last night on a couple of songs and it looks, feels (thanks to the contoured upper bout) superb. It's essentially a modded 51 P Bass but all the better for the mods in my opinion. Dimensions/specs etc are here: General Model Number(s): 0138400303, 0138400306, 0138400341 Series: Artist Color(s): (303) 2-Color Sunburst (306) Black (341) Vintage White Neck Shape: Thick "C" Shape Number of Frets: 20 Fret Size: Medium Jumbo Position Inlays: White Dot Position Inlays Fingerboard Radius: 9.5" Radius (241 mm) Fretboard: Rosewood Neck Material: Maple Nut Width: 1.59" (40.4 mm) Scale Length: 34" (863.6 mm) NeckPlate: Custom 4 Bolt Neckplate Pickup Configuration: Single Split-Coil Pickup Middle Pickup: Custom Vintage '59 Split Single-Coil Pickup Controls: Master Volume, Master Tone Hardware Finish: Chrome Bridge: Leo Quan Badass® II Tuning Machines: Vintage '70s Fender® Stamped Open Gear Tuning Machines String Nut: Synthetic Bone The cheapest I can find this new in the UK (in this colour scheme) is £629. With the upgraded gigbag, 2 pickguards, La Bellas and set up, I am looking for £440 (plus £20 P&P but happy for a pickup or meet half-way).
23. I am selling the Barefaced Compact Cab I bought from our very own Davidmpires recently. Unfortunately, with my new combo and Epifani UL410 I don't have the room to keep this. It is in near-mint condition and sounds wonderful. It's ridiculously light too and a pleasure to use. Here's the link to David's original advert H|ope you don't mind David): http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=91984&hl= Looking for what I paid for it (£300) and would prefer a pick up or local meet.
