2.
Hi Nick.Think you have an extra zero on your new price,
Thanks Rich, all sorted. My cunning plan to put the price up by £10,000 was foiled!!

4. Luke bought a Cab off me some time ago now but I forgot to leave feedback Great deal and great guy. Thanks Luke
5.
As a third party, I can tell you Steve that its a lovely player. Nick brought the bass round to mine a few weeks ago and I had a quick noodle on it. Its light, mojo'd in a tasteful way, and an all-round cracking P bass.
Thanks Clarky I am happy to accept trades plus cash for a new US Series Jazz bass (either 4 or 5 string), or a 62 Reissue Jazz if anyone has one they don't want
6.
Very sorry to hear it nick. Hopefully everything works out for you. Got a question for you though, do you know what wood the body is made from? and also, how bad is the wearing on the neck? I can't properly tell from the pictures Cheers
Hi Steve I'm pretty certain the body is Ash. The wear on the neck is actually minimal. There are a few small lacquer chips on the back and there is the wear on the G string side but that's about it and it's very smooth with no flaking at all. I had a 76 P bass before and it hadn't faired so well as this one.
7. How about a sunburst f*** All in mint condition?
8.
Me too. Had to top it up half way through because I ran it too cold before I got in. On the upside, the new soap I got seemed to cut through better than my old body-wash... and smelled nicer. Got some nice comments afterwards.
Should this not be in the "How was your Bath last night?" thread?? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=110077
9. Had a bit of a tragedy last night when at the end of our gig my amp bag was half-inched as we were packing away I asked the singer to watch the kit as we packed by but being a singer, he knew far better and as a result my amp bag and the guitarist's kit bag were swiped. My amp (a Little Mark Tube 800) will probably be seen turning up in Kingston/Surbiton Crack Converters at some stage but until then I need to replace it. After having spent the best part of £1,000 on new tyres I have decided to move this wonderful bass on as my other Basses have far more sentimental value to me despite being far lesser basses. Anyway, I have a 1976 Fender P Bass for sale in Natural/black/maple. It is all original and weighs approximately 8lbs 4oz so is a very comfortable bass. Sounds-wise it does everything from Motown to the really bitey Stranglers/Jam sound. It's in pretty good condition with wear on the top horn and lacquer crazing on the body. The G side of the neck has wearing too either by a wedding ring or just a sweaty hand It's a well-used bass that has been played regularly. Other than the wear in parts there are no dings or anything and it's in good nick for its age. Structurally it's excellent with a decent neck pocket but with the usual treble-side neck joint which is a few mm wider than the neck. Pickup and electronics are original and working perfectly. The neck is in great condition and the frets are fine (and original). The only thing of note is that the trussrod end (the cross hatch) has one of the quarters broken off it (pictured). It still works perfectly and the trussrod is fine. The end can easily be replaced too with minimal work needed (see http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Truss_rods/Adj...s_Rod_Nut.html) Clarky has played this and compared it favourably to his 72 P bass and it comes with a Gator padded case (similar to the Sadowksy). There are no ashtrays or thumb rest unfortunately. This is a very reluctant sale and I am looking for £1,150 for it. It's easily the best P bass I've owned or played and I'm not the happiest Bunny in the world at the moment! I would consider trades for a new series Fender USA 4/5 string Jazz bass or 5 string P Bass plus cash my way, a new series Fender Jazz Deluxe 5 with cash my way or a Sadowsky MV5 with rosewood board or possibly a Rickenbacker 4003.
10. My 2008 US P bass which is my main bass is not wearing too well. I'm quite heavy-handed and take care of my basses, but am already getting significant wear along the top edge where my forearm rests and wear on the back of the body too. I thas a far few dings (mostly caused by the proximity of my Drummer's cymbals, cuff buttons etc) I know Fender has given the new Series basses thinner coats of paint and poly and I know that black is possibly the worst colour to keep looking pristine but I am amazed how quickly the finish of the bass has deteriorated. The neck on the other hand is as perfect as the day it was made.
11. BUMP to include a set of genuine US Fender tuners (unused) in the deal. The tuners are the exact model for this neck so will fit without any need for surgery
12. I'm selling a brand new (never fitted) black pickguard for a Fender US 62 P bass (with thumb rest and ashtray screw holes) and a box of Fender pickguard scews in chrome. SOLD
13. Not sure if this is in the right forum, but I am selling a genuineFender USA fretless P bass neck with rosewood lined board (in superb condition) from 1996 (Serial number N614). This is a stock fretless neck, not altered retrospectively. I also have a set of genuine Fender US tuners (unused) to go with this neck which I'll throw in to the mix. I have this on Ebay currently with a fair amount of interest but will let it go on here for £275 plus £7.50 P&P.

15. Dave sent me a Fender Bridge, strap pins and neckplate completely free of charge and wouldn't accept a penny in postage. I'm incredibly grateful for his generosity and kindness; one of the good guys. Many thanks Dave and if you ever find yourself down in this neck of the woods, I'd be more than happy to buy you a pint.

17. We were booked for a surprise 40th birthday last night at The Castle in Tooting. I've not played at The Castle since a Tsunami Charity Gig years ago and the place hasn't changed much (awful sound). We were asked to get the for 6pm so we could be set up by 7 when the Birthday Boy was due to arrive. We didn't end up going on until 9 so had to sit around for a fair while. They were a great crowd but a typical party crowd where people were busy catching up/talking and a few of our numbers were greeted with stony silence and it became apparent that absolutely nobody has listened to us during certain tracks (good job I'm thick-skinned). The second set went down really well and we had a busy dancefloor. Some of our newer stuff we've added didn't get the reaction we'd hoped for but then again, some of it went down extremely well. We've got a 50th next weekend in Frimley, so we can try the new stuff out again and see how it goes down. Highlight of the night was a girl in her 20's taking photos of us. At one stage she squatted down on to her haunches for an arty shot and I got to see the Cat on her lap. Don't think she realised but it must have been a bit of a draft. Nearly put me off my stroke
18. Bought a Jap Fender P Body off of Dave on Monday and it arrived today. Better than described and a nice looking bit of wood even if I do say so myself (sounds a bit gay doesn't it?) Thanks Dave; highly recommended

20. Thanks guys. I think I was lucky to find this one
21. I thought I'd share my latest acquisition with you; a 76 P Bass I picked up for a VERY good price It's been well played over the years, but the frets are fine, electrics are all-original and apart from looking a bit tatty it's in perfect working order. There's a lot of wear on the top edge, on the G-side of the neck (a wedding ring I guess) and some lacquer crazing- all purely cosmetic. Weight-wise I would say it's just over 8lbs which is a great result! It's also the best playing and sounding P Bass I've ever played. I know that 70's P's can be a bit iffy but this one is great and has gone straight to the top of the pecking order. I bought some Fender ashtray covers for it, but will sell them on as I prefer the bass without them. Very happy indeed
