1. I'm hoping they will keep the rumble ones as a sort of squier range and release a usa (taiwan lol) genz circuit fender range.
2. I have a few irons in the fire but I'm just not feeling it lately. I'd like an upright gig but I don't feel good enough to try joining anyone decent yet. Without sounding like an arse I can play it and I'm sure there are many players gigging on elec bass at a similar standard to my upright standard but its a long way off my normal ability on elec bass if that makes sense?
3. Stands a good chance, you can bet the fender fans that previously slagged them off will say they sounds better even if they are the same circuits inside!
4. I'm with you mate, not the vmax though, maybe a nice triumph for me Can I be arsed? Is it worth it? Do I just stick to playing upright at home and sell 2 stingrays?.....
5. An ashdown cab will just choke your shuttlemax imo, the neo2x12 is basically just a pa cab so I can't see how it would be smooth or dark, it can do smooth and it can do dark, but if you put a gritty ampeg simulator through it then it would do that too. You get out what you put in imo, ask someone with a streamliner 900 if they find a lack of grit for example
6. It is a rig of champions why fender are pulling the plug on genz when class d amps are becoming king and companies like barefaced can't make similar cabs quick enough I will never know!!!!
7. Great purchase, you won't regret it
8. I would go shuttle for the head no doubt about if its going to be used for db, the streamliner will add much more colour than the shuttle. I'm not sure about the cabs, I'm sure any of them will work well but I have only used neox cabs rather than focus ones.
9. 2 Jose, I wanted to keep it sort of standard as I have the other regular 3 eq SR5s.
10. I have a classic, I took the preamp out and put an east in
11. I have been here less than a year ago, my playing improved over night once I started to get to grips with the correct fingering, watch Geoffs discover double bass lessons and go from there
12.
I've found that the trick with Rotosound roundwounds is not to buy them from a shop where they may have been sitting for quite some time on the display rack and already gone off in the packet, but to get from direct from Rotosound themselves at trade shows where they will normally be brand new off the production line.
I'd still rather spend the money on pick and mix sweets or something if I was at a trade show, just order some proper strings online when you get home
13.
This is all new to me, but wouldn't the drummer have a monitor next to the kit, so that the band can hear the drums from behind them? Please excuse me if that's a daft question!
Yes but it's just not the same, the jobecky kit and the processor he has are afaik the best electronic kit out there both for sound and looking just like a real kit but they still sound wrong to me, a snare that sounds the same everytime coupled to a kick, hats, snare and cymbals all coming from the same speaker just does not float my boat.
14. I'm presuming it says minimum 4 ohm load on the panel next to the speaker sockets then, does it have two sockets or does the extension speaker need plugging in to the speakers connection plate?
15. Sounds fine to me, I presume its about 325 watts at 8 ohm (combo only) and 500 watts at 4 ohm which you will be running at with that 8 ohm 15 inch cab. Don't use a 4 ohm cab as an extension cab though! Can you unplug the built in cab on them?
16.
It gets easier and sounds much better if you can stick at it and get through this phase. You're not doing yourself any favours if you keep switching between 4's and 5's. IMO it's best to make a clean break with 4's.
Yep, I gigged my first five the day I bought it, I played terrible but probably fast forwarded my transition by six months.
17. Like lots of us I used rotosound because that's what you do, just look at the banner that flashes across this site! Terrible strings.
18. I play with a drummer that uses a Jo Becky kit which looks like a normal kit but you can control the volume for smaller venues, once you factor in the cost of the kit plus the top end processor and a good pa I'm not so keen, as a bass player I don't really enjoy trying to lock in to the sound coming from the foh either.
19.
haha I like what you replaced the ray 4s with ;-) (checking your sig)
20. I'd have a gbe in a shot if i could be Arsed to carry it,i salute you
21.
My thoughts exactly I must say that EBS_f would be one of my first call people if ever I was buying a new PA setup. I love the way his live rig has been put together. One of the most professional function band rigs out there. Really efficient in terms of number of units and wiring, lights etc.
Nah he is just a troll : lol:
22.
The Flea bridges are circa 92 to circa 94. The hex bolt ones are the same with the mutes removed referred to as transitional bridge - circa 93 to 96. All shown with pics on musicman.org. Nice white Sub btw
Ah cool, thanks
23. I have always wanted a white ray!
