1. Nick of "Nick's guitars" uses that combination in a country band I think? Might be worth looking down that avenue.
2. Thats really cool!
3. I think he sounds best on a Modulus live, I wasnt a fan of his Jazz bass era and I presume neither was he as it was quite short and returned to the Modulus even though he had parted company with them so he must really dig them, I still want one in sparkly silver, 5 string natch
4.
oh my. why cant you guys just say. yeah Andrew i like the playing and enjoyed it, or no Andrew i dont like it and your a twat. ?
No Andrew I dont like it and *your a twat. *You're
5.
Fill in the gaps in your double bass made by the lighting rig?
I use a Laminate floor repair pen to hide the rawness of the now exposed wood but It pissed me off all that night
6. Seen the clip now, I can play it better than that so she aint that great, Not even close to Marta in any way imo
7.
I look a bit like Toby Jug and I've got couple of Music Man basses. Would you like to be friends ?
I think I'll pass thanks
8. I bought a shuttle 6.0 and a neox 2x12t as a replacement to my faulty ashdown rig years ago, busy with weddings and functions at the time it was just the job, I later bought a neox 1x12t for smaller pub gigs and jam nights etc as I found the shuttle 6.0 on its bottom limit was still quite loud, a mate upgraded his shuttle 3.0 for a streamiler 600 a couple of years ago so I bought that as a spare for wedding gigs instead of a laney head I bought as the backup to the intermittent fault ridden ashdown. I then found I preferred the fet of the 3.0 to the valve of the 6.0 so I decided to buy a 9.2max head to give me both amps in one plus the extra power, just before I spent a grand on one I bagged an as new one with a smart case and the pedal board for £530 off ebay. The features of the 9.2 max are brilliant and great if you use two very different basses or like me electric upright set on one channel, stingray on the other, double bass fed into the global return from a fishman plat pro to stop feedback. Sounds like a mess but it saves having three amps and swapping speaker cables.
9. I cant see it on galaxy tab, shame as I like jugs and stingrays....
10. New double bass, first gig, lighting rig.....fill in the gaps
11. Mine has ragged where the wheels are but it sounds like they have altered them, that's why roqsolid are great! My ragged cover is less annoying than you lot paying about £400 less than i did for the old version
12. I tend to use whatever my pro player friend gives me these days
13. I read that he uses a ray five for recording these days but never live,i don't get that either really?
14. I read that as going up the register towards the body rather than across the strings? As in the e string would get quieter as you go up.I can't see why a modulus would be any better either if it's a technical problem with the bass especially a some people say they changed the pickup and the preamp without curing it, where does it end?
15. Great gear is genz , they will be a household name in the future, oh hang on enter Fender marketing.........
16. The op has the older version like mine I think, is there really much difference between the new and old version do you think, also I have run my 9.2 max with both channels on, both with bass boosted, top rolled off, global LF engaged and bass boosted on a Ray5, played on the B string muted and dubby, f***in Jayzus you couldnt play a gig like that so either the op has smoked a huge spliff and cracked out some huge dubstep lines or something else is going on imo?
17. That bloody bass whisperer, he has cost me three genz heads, two genz cabs and a Classicray5
18.
Very true. I once sorted a great on-stage sound, deep but punchy. Went out front, total mush, just like a wall of rumbling. Now I set up a slightly nasally sound which I have to say I don`t like soloed that much, but it fits exactly in the place I want in the mix - not underneath, nor screaming out here I am. Mids are your friend in gettiing the bass where you want it, not lows.
Yep, my on stage sound is terrible, if I have foh I make it even worse, a tone I can hear but not the one id want the pa to reproduce, hence the clean di at all times for me
19. Im not sure whats what exactly as far as the drivers are concerned, wheres Gareth musicman20 when you need him? Thing is I cant see it being the cab not producing the lows so another cab with more low capability (im not doubting the faital drivers you talk of) will make no difference at all imo.
20. Jake really liked my Yita bow, he confirmed my suspicion that it is my awful technique that is to blame rather than the bow, of course Jake gave me a few pointers which should get me going though.
21. Cheeky snap from the open mic jam last night Terrible picture sorry! totally unplugged affair last night which hid my intonation well
22. Thats a very pretty bass aint it
23.
Always worth pointing out that I travel about the country a fair old amount so I'm happy to give one offs as I did for Pete here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/221723-just-had-my-first-lesson-with-jake/page__pid__2270370#entry2270370
I cant really add anything to your already glowing feedback section other than thanks and already looking forward to another lesson when our paths cross again, I just wish I lived near enough to commute once a month. Brilliant
