1. I'm not that far from Nantwich kevvo, if you fancy a dabble on an eub just drop me a pm sometime
2. As long as they are both good cabs I think it's personal preference as badboy says anything more and it will become a monitor mainly. The tall and narrow cab often lighter gives the two twelve the edge IMO.
3. I've said before that a good 2x12 is a match for a 4x10, and a quality 2x12 will demolish an average 4x10.
4.
Worth every penny if you're able to play just like him after you get it
I've heard that these come with the complete back catalogue in tab approved by Adam himself, it's printed on the back of the hang tag
5. When the gig is going well I really don't care that much about the tone, the nut width, the handles falling off, the music stand etc etc, I've had some of my most enjoyable musical experiences with my cheapest bass and using the house bass amp for example. How about double bass for a new challenge?
6. The reviews for the Krivo are really good I would still like one at some point, I like the Schaller for now though, ok I'm not going to play Symphony Hall with it but for New York New York or some swinging Blues down the local pub or small scale wedding/party gig it's great, in a full electric band with a drumkit to me it sounds as close as a piezo but without the constant feedback, I guess the Gibson Les Paul, Marshall Stack and 2000 watt PA system was 'less popular' when the Bull fiddle was first invented!
7. Lol, I did concider a bass player page but I'm busy enough without it, we do have a group for the jam night we run though even though I cant see it or post on it.
8. My favourite bass ever was my pre EB ray that Foxx now owns, it was my forever bass, I purchased my ClassicRay5 off oldhorsemurphy as the closest bass possible to a pre EB Ray with a B string, I still miss the old one but I'd never play it
9. I deactivated my facebook about a year ago, by coincindence to this thread my mate said in the pub last night that he has seen quite a few people leaving recently, is facebook losing its crown?
10. I'd lock the other basses away tbh, the only to get the confidence to gig with it will be, well, to gig with it! Yes you will make mistakes but it's the only way imo, I locked my 4s away and just sold them all in the end!
11. I've given up with the piezos, schaller 411 mag and fishman live, microphone for recording.
12. That's really cool, piece of art
13. I've seen it done with a drum stool, just put the end pin in the tube!
14. Once every option has been tried I'd strongly suggest a final test in a new location with a selection of power leads, instrument leads and speaker leads. There is a small chance that the power in the studio is either poorly earthed, reversed polarity or very high/very low on voltage or just has something dirty online nearby, all of which could be an issue here. Anyone that went to the Manchester bass days will be well aware of the lighting farting out all the amps on the upper level atrium! Just dotting the Is and all that before you send it off anywhere
15. I found the foam block to be the best upgrade out of the lot, just kept ringing on it's own without it.
16. Have you got the foam damper fitted on the after length?
17.
Am I the only one who finds it easier to play standing up?
No, I get cramp in my elbow after an hour or so I presume these awesome you tube heroes play better sat down because they can hear the backing track from the lap top better
18. I went to watch an orchestra a while ago, all sat down with music stands, the bastards!
19. I can afford one but don't want one so I don't know where that leaves me?
20.
Well, I paid a lot less, but it is second hand... (£1K mentioned above...)
I think you made a good purchase then
21. Colour me interested then
22. I'd go as far as to say as was anti 5 string!
23. I now purposefully learn new songs all fretted on the five string as it makes key changes easy as pie!
24.
The D Lakins are only just over £1k for a Jazz and less for a Precision. Which is very much in line with Lakland Skylines.
That sounds reasonable to me, how much for a Jazz 5 and is there an active one?
