1. None of mine are for sale, it saves me having to keep writing out price tags to hang on them, then having to redo them to suit other peoples opinions I would rather own a bass worth £50 when I am dead because I have used it for endless gigs and modded the hell out of it than leave it alone and it live in it's case for thirtyyears or more just so my widow can say "ooh look its a Dargie Delight with the hang tags in place, I am so glad glad he did not 'upgrade' it" Buying modern mass produced instruments is not the way to look after your money, my Classic 5 has an East preamp but I have the stock one and the soldering skills of a ninja but it has a long way to go to even get back to what it cost new never mind make me a few quid for my retirement.
2. The type of person they are looking for probably would not care about the grammar, those they want to scare off to save the embarresment of saying "no thanks grandpa" will not even reply, looking at this thread the plan is working just as planned
3.
Wait, is this a fact or your opinion? I'm confused!
It's a fact that it's my opinion it is also a fact in general but it upsets a few people.
4.
Well said. When a novice asks on here about how to improve the usual answer is to join a band, and rightly so. Yet here's a band looking for that sort of person and most members are knocking them. I learnt to play as part of a band with mates when I was young and we ended up gigging for ten years. Another fifteen years on and I now play doublebass in one band and electric bass in another, both bands gig regularly. If it gets them into playing live music, whether that be gigging or just playing in their garage then all well and good, if it doesn't then no harm done. As for the grammar, are we really that shallow as to say that someone shouldn't get a band together if their grammar isn't spot on? I'm sure we all understood the advert anyway. I thought the Basschat community was better than this.
I agree and still read it as you not having to be a die hard bassist to join, a guitarist knocking out root notes could be just what is needed. The fact remains that bass is probably the easiest instrument to get to gig level on imo.
5. We formed our first band at school, we had no instruments and no one knew how to play anyway
6. I've just had a massive full english and my upright playing is awful so you could be on to something!
7. I've had pms about that bass before, I like it and that neck is stunning, no unfinished gun stock oil haters allowed to diss that one. Have you worked out how they have wired it?
8. I haven't got any more spare strings yet!
9. I can sort of see of see what they are getting at, the bands listed have simple bass lines a regular guitarist or newbie bass player could handle, you dont need to be Marcus Miller to apply is what they are saying, of course that might touch a nerve with some 'less able' bassists? There I've said it, I feel like Inti
10. The foam damper was my best upgrade, even better than the Spirocores I'd say! What are the strings like?
11.
On the contrary Pete, I find it's the gigs with music stands where I do leave with £200 - occasionally!!!
Odd isn't it that some people think it looks unprofessional yet I find its the paying gigs that requires one!
12. You dont see one of them every day do you?! Brilliant.
13. I always go to the cinema on holiday, it's a good sit down without nodding off too early to beat jet lag! And yes they do clap at the end of the film!
14.
.....and just when you thought he couldn't be any more of a twat; http://www.telegraph...proof-vest.html Yes he can!
37!? I thought he was much older.
15. Someone said Kim K had a massive arse earlier in the thread, looks to me like she has two massive arses?
16.
Fender acquired GB, GB disappears from the market, Fender releases new lightweight range of amps. It's an easy conclusion to draw, but I can't say I'm an expert, nor have I cracked open my amp to have a look!
I have a hammer and a torch at the ready
17. I had what after much discussion with fellow bass geeks in person we declared a factory refinish pre EB Stingray, the black was on top of black and chipped in places after 30+ years of heavy use but was of a factory finish layered on another for sure, I also had a bitsa Jazz project I bought new that was CAR but a Blue Metalic underneath which was the other colour of only two available for the Affinity Jazz at the time so that must have been a factory refin too, it would have made quite a nice relic with the grinder really with the CAR showing the met blue underneath, both basses belong to bass chatters now but I forget who has what
18.
I was explaining the whole thing to my (non musician) girlfriend. She gave me the wise point of view that to the non-musos in the audience, there's so much stuff on stage (mic stands, PA stands, light stands, backline, drums etc) that the uninitiated have little to no clue what any of it does. They're just there to listen to the music and watch the band perform. Slipping the odd look at a lyric folder means nothing to them at all
I think we made it a rule around page 2 that sensible answers would be banned, this is not allowed, grab your stand and walk out, do not pass go or collect your £200
19. Surely if you are doing toy shops it's fao Schwartz where the walk on piano from the film Big is!
20. Natural history museum of course, make sure you watch night at the museum first if you haven't already. Just being there is like an attraction, sirens and noises, bright lights etc! Enjoy and congratulations too
21. Oh I could claim to love comfortably numb and another brick in the wall if there was some rumpy pumpy on offer
22. There is some presumption that they are based largely on the Genz Benz amps, anyone looked inside any? I liked the Contour amps which I'd guess these are the same as but in a new box.
23. I presume the OP is not familiar with the 'dub scene' relicing brand new Golf R32s and Transporters is common place, I think it looks as sh*t as a relic'd bass, lol
24.
Oh man, you just made me laugh out loud...lol...very funny.
It was too easy to go for, worth it though if it made you laugh
25.
How can you do that while you have your fingers in your ears?
What walking? It's easy
