1. You could always cut a bit off the headstock, it's not like It's a real Fender Jazz Fwiw my Fender Jazz V (4+1) fits just nice in the Hiscox EBS
 2.
Very true - a few years ago I was at an industry dinner and every table had two Bath rugby players as guests. My then boss was a big football fan, but his son had started playing rugby, so he wanted some autographs. He asked me who the famous ones were, and when I pointed out he was sitting next to Ieuan Evans he didn't have a clue who he was!
No I haven't got a clue who he is either! Ha
 3.
Although not a recommendation, it is possible to get 2 TC112 speakers, microphone stand, gig bag, amp and a bass in a Peugeot 206cc. Yes, it was a surprise to me too!
Did you take the hair dressing kit out first?
 4. In all honesty if Steve Vai and a reborn Jaco held a jam night in our village pub it still wouldn't be full in there. The famous bit is only in the eyes of the people watching, I sat next to Carl Foggarty having my lunch at the NEC classic car show a couple of years ago, no one bothered him, if he'd tried to sit in there a week earlier at the Motorbike show he'd have mobbed!
 5.
I'm not sure what we would need at the bar band level that's expensive. We own our own lights and PA. I'd still pay up. Nothing comes directly out of my cut. Blue
The PA must have come from somewhere and will eventually need replacing though.
 6. A PA system?
 7. How many other basses have a shim too though, they are regarded as solid work horses even with the shim so it doesn't bother me, it must be there for a reason as it's not for saddle height issues?
 8.
Personally, for the bar band level I don't believe in Kitty's. If the band wants to buy something and I've been with them for over 5 years just ask and I'll contribute my share. But your not going to take it out of my pay. Blue
What happens if you need something really expensive?
 9.
Thanks for the input guys. The bridge? Never thought about that. Just checked the bridge on my Eminence--hollow body--and the bridge has a good curve. So being a hollow body and a curved bridge things looking good for arco.
I'd say you've got a better than a solid body one other than the Yamaha SLB then, good luck
 10. Yes it just wasn't the Imelda and band I was expecting, maybe I'll have another look at the track people are saying was the best performance of the night.
 11. It's quite often the bands with unmic'd drummers that are too loud, we as bass players talk about head room with amps to be able to play dynamically yet Paul is admitting to shaking his head in disbelief at pub bands with a mic'd kick and at the same time being in a band that can be too loud. If the drummer has a monitor with some kick in it they won't kick so hard all night, it's still there if it needs to ramp up a bit and their leg will be grateful for it too.
 12.
Are the d&b monitors not out elsewhere then?
No U2 have chosen in ears for the windmill gig tonight
 13.
Well done Pete! You've upset him now!!
It's not that I dislike Dave's playing I just really like Al Gare on upright bass! Oh and Roy's regular player is a mate so I was hoping to see him there.
 14.
Ouch, tough crowd! stingrayPete1977, maybe I should hire you as my agent! 😉
Can you make the tickled trout tonight for £50?
 15. I do a bit of both which turns you into a doubler apparently.
 16.
We do get accused of being too loud sometimes in a small pub, but we don't mic the drums up, so short off sacking the drummer because hits them too hard there's not a lot we can do about it, I'm left shaking my head in disbelief when I see a band micing up the drum kit for a pub gig
Yet we do and we are not getting complaints for being too loud, go figure
 17. National planning policy for England as set out in the National Planning Policy Framework sets out that existing businesses wanting to develop in continuance of their business should not have unreasonable restrictions put on them because of changes in nearby land uses since they were established. This isn't what it is about either, no one mentioned expanding the existing noise making business after new houses are built.
 18. I bet he will do a cover of Moondance eventually
 19. A great song is a great song forever.
 20. THREAD REVIVAL I have received this today as I suspect everyone else that signed it did. The Government has responded to the petition you signed – “Support Live Music Venues by preventing inappropriate complaints being actioned”. Government responded:
Music venues are a vibrant and vital part of the music ecosystem and economy and government will continue to support and promote an environment in which UK’s live music industry can carry on thriving

Between 2010-2015 government introduced a package of deregulation, including the Live Music Act 2012, removing the need for entertainment licences in certain circumstances and increasing the audience limit for performances of live amplified music in relevant alcohol licensed premises from 200 to 500 people Additional licensing conditions should only be imposed on a business where appropriate - statutory guidance is clear that licensing authorities should avoid disproportionate measures that could deter valuable community events, such as live music. We have also made changes to national planning guidance and permitted development rights, helping to prevent noise complaints from new development on existing businesses. National planning policy for England as set out in the National Planning Policy Framework sets out that existing businesses wanting to develop in continuance of their business should not have unreasonable restrictions put on them because of changes in nearby land uses since they were established. The planning guidance supporting the Framework is clear that the potential effect of a new residential development being located close to an existing business giving rise to noise should be carefully considered. The guidance underlines planning’s contribution to avoiding future complaints and risks to local business from resulting enforcement action. To help avoid such situations, local councils are encouraged to consider appropriate mitigation including designing the new development to reduce the impact of noise from the local environment and optimising the sound insulation provided by the building envelope. On 6 April, the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) (Amendment) Order 2016 made permanent the permitted development right for the change of use from office to residential. The permanent right includes a prior approval on noise, allowing consideration by local planning authorities of plans to mitigate the impacts of noise from commercial premises on the residents. In considering the prior approval, the local planning authorities will have regard to the relevant parts of the National Planning Policy Framework and supporting planning guidance, as would be the case under a planning application. We want to encourage people to live in our towns and cities, while enabling small grassroots music venues to flourish - giving musicians and artists the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience and providing communities with a social and cultural attraction. We will continue to engage with the industry and local authorities to support this important and dynamic sector. Department for Culture, Media and Sport
Click this link to view the response online: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/168135?reveal_response=yes The Petitions Committee will take a look at this petition and its response. 21. I heard Geoff Chalmers playing arco on a Yamaha silent bass at the double bass bash, sounded fantastic! I suspect the operator was helping in that department though My Stagg with Spiros doesn't like it at all.
 22. I am nearly 40 and have played it many times, even when I was in my 20s
 23. You can't lose there, excellent.
 24.
Still trying to work that one out ...
Tricky isn't it, why do we feel the need for people that come after us to have the same experiences as us? I hope that future generations have fun and have a happy healthy life, if it's found by downloading it into their brains with an app so be it, maybe future generations will be able to experience the Beatles as only those that 'were there' did?
