I like solid state amps of some kind with a Stingray, my old Ray 4 with my old Peavey TNT remains my favourite bass sound.

That's not that much more than I paid for my US standard Jazz V to be fair and I bought mine pre Brexit.

Out of seven basses I own only one is passive, my double bass that's got a mag pickup that goes straight to a Fishman preamp. I just don't get on with passive at all, I think it's about the combination of bass and amp, my Heftless class D rigs don't suit passive basses and maybe a nice vintage valve amp works better with a bass designed in the same century

You can see why companies just decide to throw items away at a loss eventually spoiling the fun for genuine tinkerers.

Both my bands have terrible set lists, and gigs.

I'm not so bothered on the four string basses but I think the USA graphite neck rods are worth having on a five string Fender.

That's an insane price!

I've done it live with a pair of ridiculous guitarists, not the tea but I've sloped off into the corner to make a point to them, the quality of the performance has already gone to crap by then anyway.

I remember "shorten to sharpen" regarding the free string between nut and saddle,moving the saddles wildly you can also go through incorrect scale lengths in relation to the frets (which are fixed obviously) and the string becomes right but wrong if that makes sense?

We had some Fearless/fearful greenboy audio stuff at the double bass bash (along with a cab builder!), first cab I've heard that blew me away, and light as a feather!

The guitarist in one of my bands has a Vox simulator thing, it's fed back to him along with his vocal monitoring, I use a 1x12 cab and the drummer keeps to a sensible volume, we can talk during the songs if we need to and my earplugs haven't come out in five years.
