Bowie - Brilliant Live Adventures
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
Just to echo some of the comments regarding the quality playing of Dennis Davis, I'm enjoying this album. I know the Diamond Dogs Tour has been documented elsewhere, but this is the second leg compared to the earlier first leg on which 'David Live' was recorded and features bass player Emir Ksasan instead of Herbie Flowers - oh, and Luther Vandross on backing vocals. -

Mmm, have to appear? Not really, although there are a few that do appear quite regularly. Our #1 fans unsubtly drop into post gig conversation should we dare not play Ziggy Stardust into Suffragette City, but other than that, we like to mix it up. We have about 60 or so songs to choose from at the moment, so it's fairly easy to do. -

Yes, I was just saying exactly that to our singer. The whole band love playing Cracked Actor, but the drummer hates Ashes to Ashes - partly because he's played it 1000's of times 😂 -

Agreed, but it's an easy win for them really. One from the archives that has already been released and they know it will sell. I know the set is almost the same, but part of the joy for me is that Gail never plays the songs note for note the same way. She's quite an instinctive player. Can't remember how much the slip cases were. A tenner sounds about right though. -

Ha ha....and extra slip cases. Bet all those people who were paying £100+ for a piece of cardboard are feeling sick now. -

Just answered my own question. Yes, this Friday 👍. -

I presume that will be this Friday for pre-orders then? -
Sold items wasting time
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to Basilpea's question in Site Issues and Questions
In direct response to your question then, I think it’s a bad idea. If sellers did what they are supposed to do with their listings, there wouldn’t be an issue. To bounce that problem over to the Mods/Admins seems a little unfair. I mean, I’d happily police the marketplace as I spend several hours a day surfing it anyway, but it doesn’t really solve the issue. -

I think it’s the last time a post was added. Using the bump button doesn’t change it - as far as I know -

hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to Basilpea's question in Site Issues and Questions
I have to admit, I now do see the problem. My default is recently updated and with that selected I still have really old items on the first page, one of which I contacted the seller of thinking he must have bumped it and I don’t actually think he did. It seems to me that something has changed (for the worse for me), but I’m not sure what it is. -
I’ll save Daniel the pain of typing it. That’ll be the one I have 😎

That's one of the answers to HJ's question. Annoys the hell out of me too. -
Oh yes, that I like. Congrats.

I think we need a few more photos of that 😍

Artists best known for one unrepresentative song

The title of the thread is artists best known for one unrepresentative song. I'm not sure these two examples qualify. -

+1. Only ever had cause to contact them once about my Suitcase and he replied very quickly. -

Never had any issue with mine (including the power supply) during the years I’ve had it and it gets used a lot. Quiet as a mouse when it’s on, however I have rarely used it with a PC. I just connect it to my iPad which stores all my music for rehearsing. I have found it’s not too keen on having mobile phones too close to it, so it may well pick up noise from elsewhere. -
At Last! A Zappa Documentary
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to SpondonBassed's topic in General Discussion
I think I may have mentioned this elsewhere, but I recommend Dave at G & S Music as a source for most things Zappa. As soon as I get a whiff of a new release, I send Dave a message and it arrives on the release day. http://www.gandsmusic.com -

Yes, I was fortunate to get one of the (then) best multi-regional players available before they inexplicably stopped making disc players and moved over to mobile phones instead. It's an OPPO. I'm not sure what is good and what is not these days to be honest. I'd have to look into a bit more before recommending anything I'm afraid. -

Yes, Dweezil has done a grand job keeping the Zappa legacy alive. Ahmet's show was very good as well. Nice to see Thunes again after all this time. I've bitten the bullet and ordered the blu-ray. Found it reasonably cheap on eBay. Should arrive next week. -

With the notable exception of some of the brass section. If it had just been a straight ahead rock band line-up, that nonsense wouldn't have happened. -
