1.
I went to see the Pet Shop Boys last week, and I would challenge anyone who would say it wasn't a 'proper' gig. Great tunes, fantastic light show & sound, and 3000-ish very, very happy punters. In fact, I would say that the only weak link in the show was actually the use of two live musicians! They had a pair of percussionists on stage, who, aside from providing backing vocals, could very easily have been replaced by a single competent drummer, and who would have given a better feel, as well.
I'm sure it was enjoyable as a spectacle, and there are many other forms of immersive entertainment that have huge artistic value - however it's not a gig IMHO... But I suspect this is an argument that has no right answer, only opinions... Now lets bring in the "backing track argument" and we'll be at 21 pages before we know it... :-)
2. I'm not into automation or sequencing (although somewhat bizarrely overdubs don't worry me) but apart from that anything goes... But I think you need to decide whether you're a DJ or a musician....
3. And I look forward to the Reidmar 1400 being released real soon :-)
4.
Its a 250Watt amp. I think that is what the OP was getting at. There was no such thing as Dynamic Output watts.
Very similar to Behringer and Bugera watts
5. All things being equal it's generally going to be more of a problem with five strings and six strings, simply because there is more mass in the neck/headstock/tuners..
6. Barefaced Compact in great (but gigged) condition.. Details here.. http://barefacedbass...nge/compact.htm I could argue this is the model that changed the world of bass cabs, and will appreciate immensely in value as it was probably handcrafted personally by Alex Claber, but however much I'd like to start a classic Barefaced/own a piece of history trend, I can't keep a straight face Bought originally to stack with my S12T, it's now made redundant by my recent acquisition of a BT2. Based between J11/12 of the M40, you're more than welcome to come try it out, Happy to meet halfway if not too far - say 60 miles..
7. Mesa Prodigy? Lightweight (about 28 lbs) and can run in half power mode ?... Seem to go secondhand/ebay for about £1000..
8. Mine is pretty simple, things do change a bit but the idea remains the same.. Currently gig with a Dingwall Z3 5'er with an active ABZ 5'er as a backup (or main bass if I don't like the look of the venue). Smoothhound wireless classic Main amp is a Thunderfunk TF750A with an RH750 as backup. Cab is a Barefaced BT2 (just got - replaced a BF S12T) Pedals are EBS chorus, envelope follower and octaver. Cog TK421 for dirt Mr Squishy compressor Thumpinator Joyo tuner I use a send/return snake with power to the pedal board (pedal train clone). Music is rock covers/blues-funk originals...
9. Just did a trade for my Tecamp 810 with Si's BT2... Top guy.......
10.
This has me worried. I'm yet to properly gig mine! I never use the TonePrints though as my pedals have that covered.
Mate of mine has a BH550 (bought to replace a set of failing LH1000's) and he thinks it's got as much grunt and loves it..
11. wall mount your speakers?
12.
I've had the 8 10 Ampeg backlined for me at a few shows. To be honest it doesn't seem anything like the SVT I purchased in 1972. Disappointed Blue
Ears broken by time ? 😀
13. Barefaced Compact in great condition - I bought it to stack under my S12T but given that I very rarely use it, it's up for sale.. Happy to meet halfway within reason, happy to demo at my house between J11/12 of the M40 .. Photos attached If you need any more detail just pm me..
14.
Only to be exceeded by manhandling a Hammond B3 up fire escape stairs - followed by the Leslie unit - definitely a four man (burly) job - who says bass players have the heaviest gear!!!
My ex drummers dad used to be in a three hammond band With Leslies.. :-)
15. has this gone yet?
16. I suppose the assumption might be they're tuned E-C ?
17. Already sold :-)
18. I've got a Marshall 1x15 which is currently unused in storage.. You're welcome to borrow it for a couple of months to see how you get on?
19. make sure it's stable when stacked
20. I had a chat with my bandmates last night and they were astonished that you would be asked to do this. This is an originals blues/funk band and I'm using a Dingwall..
21. I've got a tecamp 810 sitting around.. 37kg, 4 ohm. 2400w RMS..Big wheels and pull bar.. it's a little scruffy but feel free to pm me an offer :-)
22.
Yep thats the part..... unfortunately thats also the only spare part they don't offer. If you tighten the screw too much the plastic cracks in the centre and that in turn doesn't allow it to then hold the central pole off of the floor. The pole will then slip through the base and rest on the floor which will then pick vibrations up from the stage and transmit them through the stand.
I have four of the Studiospares ones, used weekly for the last four or so years... Never had a problem - however I don't throw them around or tighten stuff as hard as it's possible to do.. The boom clutch is usually the weak link in cheap stands, and the SS ones have held up perfectly... In terms of your bust ones put some foam under the centre pole?
