1.
I never imagined it would elicit such a response! I am in North West Wales so I don't think I am nearby.
it's a lovely bass.. I'm just adding the likely cost to you when you had it made, and you're clearly taking a big hit at todays prices..
2.
WILL TAKE THIS IF YOU'RE NEARBY BUT YOU DIDN'T MENTION YOUR LOCATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IT'S OK HE PROBABLY HEARD THIS NO MATTER WHERE HE IS :-)
3.
it has no strap buttons because then I cannot stand up.
Is it heavy?
4. Any builders interested, just pm me...
5. Sure, it would be a "silhouette" type homage ...
6. Sold subject to the normal.. Putting a feeler out as I'm not really playing this since acquiring a Z3 last autumn... It's a natural satin finish with maple neck and board.. Condition is pretty good - some tiny marks that i'll try and photograph and post later.. Comes with Dingwall case and case candy - Dimarzio strap lock system fitted.. I still have all the original parts for the passive setup, and it is fully reversible without any changes/holes etc (the reason I chose the P-Retro which John kindly installed for me) It's very light and comfortable to play (a smidgen under 8 lbs), strung with a reasonably fresh set of Dingwall Nickels.. Apparently there is a 9 month wait list on new build Canadian built Dingwalls, and this is about half the list price of an equivalent new build... Picture link here.. Let me know if you have problems viewing.. https://drive.google...OTQ?usp=sharing
7. In the same way that a Lakland 55-76 takes the idea of an SR5 and takes a different spin on it, I've been thinking about commissioning a ricky 5 string "tribute"... All the 5 string fakers are 34" and have horribly close string spacing... So the things that are fixed for me are - maple neck/body, 35" scale, through body stringing option, active. 38mm ish string to string spacing at the nut - 75mm at the bridge.. I don't seem to be able to find a 5 string ricky style bridge, so probably a high mass bridge from one of the normal suspects... Need some advice on pickups, might be nice to have stereo output. Thoughts?
8.
I didn't think that you were disagreeing with me, you were clarifying that Mesa may not necessarily have control over the recent rise which is more helpful than my response may have suggested. I can see how the reply that you have quoted above can read as being on the defensive side, apologies if it came across as a bit arsey as that was not my intention Thanks for the information regarding importing from the states. I'll look into it and give it some thought.
No probs.. The D800+ looks well worth the extra $100...
9. If it has an FX loop, plug a patch cable from send to return if you're not using it .
10.
Regardless of who made the decision to up the price by that much, I still think it's a ridiculous move. More so because I was looking to potentially buy one this weekend pending a successful trial. The fact that this has also been applied to existing stock makes it very difficult for me to see the motivation behind it as anything other than avarice. The idea of importing one directly from the states is worth considering, a crude calculation (price in dollars converted by today's online exchange rate, plus an additional 20% to cover import duty) comes in at under £700. Plus shipping costs too. Are there any other costs that I'd need to factor in? Do you have any idea if the warranty would still be valid if I was to import one directly?
I'm not disagreeing with you.... You'll need to budget 25% for VAT and duty. plus $50 or so for shipping (which they'll add VAT to).. Any warranty issues will need to be resolved by the supplying US dealer..
11.
The Mesa seems to have had an obscene universal price hike over the past 24 hours. Yesterday, Andertons and PMT both had it listed at £739, which is the same ball park as amps of a similar spec from other manufacturers. Today, however, the list price has gone up to £875, an increase of nearly £150. That's an additional 20% on yesterday's price. This seems to be the list price for all UK stockists of the Subway D-800 and it includes existing stock too, so it's not as though there has a new shipment of the amps into the UK that carry the higher price tag. Mesa have a bad reputation for their UK prices, but this is just taking the p***.
It's not Mesa, it's Westside distribution that set the price.. Just bring one in from the US, they have universal power supplies... https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SubwayD800 https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SubwayD800P
12. Have you tried to string it through body yet ? I believe there have been issues on other sire basses
13. Hope to hear it in action some time soon :-)
14. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it's something like Eric Czars when playing for JB.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWx-3fiG7mk
15. Protein kills hunger pangs and does not bloat - so maybe something like cold chicken breast?
16. Is it that the strings won't feed through? If so I had this issue with a previous Cort bass - it was an easy fix to slightly enlarge the holes in the bridge with a drill..
17. It's not been hit with the ugly stick, it is the ugly stick :-)
18. About £240 difference on Thomann.. I suspect the Th350's are stale UK stock because how could anyone cope with such a tiny amp?
19. Just measured my newish Lakland Bob Glaub P 5 bass.. 38 mm at nut (string centre to string centre) and 75 mm at the saddles - I don't really notice any difference when I'm switching between this and the jazz..
