1. Is that a finger, or is he just showing out. Does that ad' say which toilet to meet in.
2. Have to say having had a good experience at GAK 5 years ago when i bought an Amp, my last visit on a Saturday in the spring was really bad. The Bass room was locked, and I was told they did not have the staff available, but would open it when staff became available. A typical British music shop just interested in shifting guitar starter packs.
3. and also in the US http://store.bassemporium.com/ Also another German shop, check out the Waja bass, anyone got one seen or played one http://www.cmsme.de/epages/62030644.sf/de_...22B%C3%84SSE%22

6. Now tell us you're in a Wilko Johnson tribute band.
7. How about we all turn up after our Gigs tonight, and Party. You may get a sale or two. How does that Walnut Jazz sound ??
8. My advise would be not to buy down to a price, but look at some quality second hand gear on here, G&K Neos would be a better quality buy and more efficient. check the recent issues with TC cabs as they are nearer 10 ohms than 8 which means less power from a non TC amp. like ya ashdown. Trial it if poss. good luck
9. apa, Elites ground wound are realy good, best i have found, but as i am into GHS now might try those you suggested. from first thread, i would describe pressure wound as an ordinary round wound string squashed, rolled along its length so taking all the round windings down to a flater profile, as these companies usually start with a heavier gauge wrap and squash it down to a standard diameter, there is more mass in them than ordinary size round wounds. so more magnetic coupling.
10. I think there should be a set criteria all manufacturers should disclose, not just the ones they like and use words to gloss over the ones they don't wish to publish. Slew Rate would be high on my list and it means more to us that any other musician. But you never see it. Think Carvin did some years back.
11. Wedding near Tidworth Marquee job, They had sorted everything we asked for, stage for band and a good size Geny no electrical problems + food n drink. First Gig we've had in August due to holidays and we played very well as if we had not had the break First time in a Marquee this year so used my 4 x 12" for first time this year also First time i had to use the Landing lights on my Shuker 5 string in anger so pleased with that and it justified the investment. First time the Wife (singer) has broken anything. Twisted her ankle packing away and has broken a bone in her foot. So next weeks gig she will be doing a Jessie J. Oh what joy. It was all going so well.
12. watch out for the earlier KAM T bar sets, they may still be available but the LED's were not bright enough. I know they are an ideal compact set up with foot switch and cheaper now. I wanted some until i saw how bright they were. That said i have seen some recently that looked a lot brighter and think they may have changed the type of LED installed. Just dont get caught buying blind on the net. check them out in a store.
13. I went all LED about 5 years ago and never looked back. Check out LEDJ not too expensive but good control and coverage. Best advantage is the power needed for gigs, we did use over 3 kW of traditional Cans which makes you have to sort and split power feeds so not to blow fuses. Now I know as a band we are not affected by Volt drop on our extension leads, and that affects the Bass most of all. The only down side is you can’t keep warm under them on cold nights. Check them out in your local DJ shop before buying. I have two six gang LED t bar type effects at the back of the band facing the audience linked and set on STL and six Par 56 LED cans on the floor set on standalone slow change. Seems plenty for our four pieces.
14. I think we are getting to; it’s the individual’s use of the volume control that matters. I would be happy to see a large rig as then I know I have the head room. You don’t have to use it all.
15. Oh Bum, Missed it. Never thought one would come up so soon
16. I hate it when you all launch into a song and you think what the Fck is this song. your ears are telling your hands what to play, but the conscious you so thinking I hope the Fck I have a light bulb moment before we get to the end of the first 8. Because I haven't a clue what comes next.
17. Body is in V good nick, has it been refinished, and is it Alder it looks quite fine grain for Ash.
18. mmmmmmM. As Played by Ronald LaPraed in the Commodores worth a bump for that alone
19. I do understand where you are coming from, Two band leaders who got me into this game, eventually left the Union over similar events to the one you mentioned, and they were both Branch Sec for a time. Pressed steel Fisher at Cowley was a closed shop Union wise in the 70's got into a dispute over none union bands and fees in their club, So the Guy running it just hired bands from every other town. We all lost out locally. Anyway I'm still in It, basically for the insurance and public liabillity contracts and legal advice. But the annual fee is too high for most casual earners, I think they should introduce a lower casual rate, may be get more members. Whether they will ever sort the three in a Bar thing I don't know.
20. Well, many many moons ago as a young teenage Trombonist, I happened to be involved in a Local Big band and we were picked to Represent the area. The Local BBC Radio station arranged a session to record us. I was only one of two in the band in the union and we got paid the going session rate for all day Sunday and the rest got Diddly squat. And I guess that’s why you did not get paid either. IT's NEVER TOO LATE! -to join
21. Sorry just being a smart Arse, Was thinking you probably need someone to Look at the floor, nod their head and play fast and loud. If you stated you wanted someone to double on flute or Harp. Now that as a Metal fan is versatile
22. I think all answers above are spot on, not done this myself But My wife was asked to do backing vocals on an Album for a young British girl, by a well know producer. The Girl had already performed on Prime time TV shows a couple of times and was being tip for great things. As a member of the MU I suggested my wife quotes the MU rate for the three day session. That way 1. You get paid for your hard work regardless. 2. If other work comes from it great, you have already set your rate and will not be taken for a ride. 3. Any acknowledgments on the tracks are a bonus 4. Chances of Royalties are slim and mega stardom is slim so get paid while you can, when you are doing it. Lesson - Never heard of the Girl since or seen the Album Note. This is based on knowing it was a working London studio. Not a nice guy in the Country trying to lay down his life’s work and needs a favour from a friend.
