    Entirely agree! I just continue in a vein that makes it even more difficult, and so easier for me to say, "Nah, don't play that..."

    Exactly. Uppercase bass. There are a few numbers I like that contain slap, but as far as funk goes give me Rocco's finger funk any day... And no, I can't do it. Nor is my bass equipped for it, as it sounds bad slapping with flats...IMHO.

    I suspect I'm going to miss my MB rig. It always got complements for sound, allied to my bitsa P. CMD121H and Traveler 121H. Could really dish it out. Now I'll just have to see what I can do with an Elf and a couple of BF One10s.

    Not a single gig in 13 months, and won't be until April earliest owing to having to have some more scaffolding in my lower spine. End of March 2019, I was offered some dep work with a band I've played with before, but a piece of my recently reconstructed shoukder broke, so that was that... End of March 2020 will hopefully see me join said band permanently. This will mean several things: 1) Quite a lot of gigging, 60-70 a year. 2) I will need to save gigging cash to add another BF 110 to the micro-rig, just to bring it up out of the need for PA support. 3) I will need some really good new earplugs! Exciting times for a 67-year-old!

    Classic Smoothhound wireless system. Transmitter bug case is broken, hence price, but it all still works as it should. Any questions, fire away. If you can pick it up, then £40. Otherwise £45 includes postage. Note: Smoothhound will repair the bug for around £20 if you send it to them, so this could be very cost-effective to get an essentially 100% system.

    @obbm, for the same reasons, I swapped to a Jazz neck, the thinnest I could get. This turned out to be an American Special, new, from that there Stratosphere guy on Ebay. Wasn't cheap, but did the job. I had previously experimented with this setup, so knew it would likely work. As a trial, I used a Squier VM77 Jazz neck which was every bit as good and comfortable.

    Looks to be a very similar construction, not quite identical. I'd be willing to bet it's pretty similar internally.

    Essentially, a Precision. Standard BBOT bridge, KioGon vintage circuit, slim, almost Geddy Lee Jazz neck, maple, standard USA pickups, black paint, BWB guard. Oh look, here it is!

    I love TI Jazz Flats. The only slight downside for me was having the truss rod barely engaged, which seemed to emphasize the G string dead spot, even on a graphite reinforced neck. Otherwise I use Chromes ECB-81s, not too much stiffer, and sound great. Cobalt Flats also fab if you need the twang to still be present! If you don't kill strings quickly with sweat, there's no need these days to have to deal with finger-wrecking rounds!

    The problem is not with weight or straps, it's my right shoulder, and I'm right-handed. Just the position and movement of the 'modified' arm causes a great deal of pain. It's 95% ok when sitting down. It may, repeat may, settle in time. I did not take the offered gig, I'm not about to subject myself to that level of torture. I am still hopeful of getting the jazz trio off the ground, and that's a seated gig by design. Just got to find that mythical pianist! Edited to add: I do have the Kinsman stool, but it doesn't work for me, head-wise, in a rock band, where I want to be bopping about. Basically, bopping ist verboten! So I'd rather sit and be mellow. 😁

    Did an audition Thursday evening. Standard covers fare, nothing difficult. I learned two things: One: Never again going to be able to play in a band standing up. Shoulder won't handle it any more. So didn't take the offred gig. Two: this tiny rig happily kept up with a guitarist and moderate drummer! It left them open-mouthed, in fact. Very pleased, and still in pain, in equal measure!

    Ignore me, I'm waffling... EL84s are small B9A base tubes as opposed to 6L6 being much physically larger octal base tubes. Bigger is louder in this instance...
