  1. Shiny Happy People. Less and less sure I like some of Mike Mills' lines...probably not good when I'm in an REM tribute. Ooops. Edit: at least the Youtube clip has great harmonies from Kate Pierson.
  2. Definitely only talking musicians here, in terms of what I said. A collector is not even neccessarily a musician.
  3. No such thing. If you're happy with your kit and it does the job, then it's as professional and posh as it needs to be. Amp and speakers must obviously be able to do whats needed. My main, in fact only, bass is a parts bass. Best I've ever used, bar one, which was another parts bass I stupidly sold...
  4. It went well!. Reasonably quiet, and the Elf/,One10 did the business easily. There were many Telecasters!
  5. I suppose I might need a new set of strings... Nah, these are only 5 years old!
  6. On my Feneder Kingman bass, I just used a set of 40-100 Fender flats. Sounded great!
  7. My current, and only, bass, started out like this: A brand-new 2003/4 MIM (both dates on it in various places, 2003 serial). I'd already replaced the guard. Now, it looks like this: Only original bits left are the body, bridge, and knobs! Pickup is an American Standard from 1994, wiring by KiOgon. Neck is a 2014 American Special Jazz. Hipshot lollipops. The tuners were my only error, I wasn't aware when talking to Hipshot that I could have asked for longer shafts at no extra cost. Then ther was this one, now sold: This is made up of a Squier fretless P body, guard, and wiring, powered by a Seymour Duncan SPB-3 pickup. Bolted to it is a Squier VM77 Jazz Bsss neck, with Wilkinson tuners. I really wish I still had this one... Not least because it weighed less than 7 pounds... Apologies for the weird bass face!
  8. They are the same as the Bronco's original tuners, but with a better shaft and button. Certainly look better, but I'd still do the mod, personally.
  9. HD206s here, plus an older pair of HD212 Pros. I like Sennheisers!
  10. Hi Dave, no it's fine as is. It was just one of those, "I didn't know those actually existed" moments! How's life back in Cornwall?
  11. Holy thread ressurection, Batman! Had an idle read through this, and saw some of Dave @obbm 's handiwork. He also made my lead for this application, except I was too dumb to remember to ask for a right-angled Speakon. D'oh... What I did ask for, regardless, was the lowest loss cable he could fit between a Speakon and a 1/4" jack plug. The result is this: the plug is only a little thinner than the Elf it plugs into! Quality kit, as always from Dave.
  12. My last band was together, unchanged except to add a member, for almost 12 years. It was great. It will have been a once-in-a-musical-lifetime event, I don't doubt. The OP's lament is all too normal and frustrating, unfortunately.
  13. Not that I've ever seen or heard of. Custom, yes, seems to ring a bell, otherwise, don't think so.
