  1. On my Feneder Kingman bass, I just used a set of 40-100 Fender flats. Sounded great!
  2. My current, and only, bass, started out like this: A brand-new 2003/4 MIM (both dates on it in various places, 2003 serial). I'd already replaced the guard. Now, it looks like this: Only original bits left are the body, bridge, and knobs! Pickup is an American Standard from 1994, wiring by KiOgon. Neck is a 2014 American Special Jazz. Hipshot lollipops. The tuners were my only error, I wasn't aware when talking to Hipshot that I could have asked for longer shafts at no extra cost. Then ther was this one, now sold: This is made up of a Squier fretless P body, guard, and wiring, powered by a Seymour Duncan SPB-3 pickup. Bolted to it is a Squier VM77 Jazz Bsss neck, with Wilkinson tuners. I really wish I still had this one... Not least because it weighed less than 7 pounds... Apologies for the weird bass face!
  3. They are the same as the Bronco's original tuners, but with a better shaft and button. Certainly look better, but I'd still do the mod, personally.
  4. HD206s here, plus an older pair of HD212 Pros. I like Sennheisers!
  5. REM, REM, REM... Tribute to practice for!
  6. Hi Dave, no it's fine as is. It was just one of those, "I didn't know those actually existed" moments! How's life back in Cornwall?
  7. Holy thread ressurection, Batman! Had an idle read through this, and saw some of Dave @obbm 's handiwork. He also made my lead for this application, except I was too dumb to remember to ask for a right-angled Speakon. D'oh... What I did ask for, regardless, was the lowest loss cable he could fit between a Speakon and a 1/4" jack plug. The result is this: the plug is only a little thinner than the Elf it plugs into! Quality kit, as always from Dave.
  8. My last band was together, unchanged except to add a member, for almost 12 years. It was great. It will have been a once-in-a-musical-lifetime event, I don't doubt. The OP's lament is all too normal and frustrating, unfortunately.
  9. Well, just shows how out of touch you can get!
  10. Not that I've ever seen or heard of. Custom, yes, seems to ring a bell, otherwise, don't think so.
  11. Indeed, I have started the search!
  12. Doesn't work too well when your lumbar spine is rigid! But everything is SOME help.
  13. Not good, but working on it...
  14. Good point...Or get mine refinished from black!
  15. Assuming, that is, that I can physically handle it... An REM tribute is mooted, should be a bit of fun!
  16. Just discovered these from an old project. First to claim gets 'em free.
  17. Me too.
  18. Originally a 2003 MIM with rosewood board. The only original bits left are the body, bridge, and knobs! My only black bass and my only bass!

    Hey! :)

Welcome! Great taste in basses. You don't need a Jazz. Best of both worlds? Get a Jazz neck and fit it to the PJ!
  20. As an indication of what the Elf can do, it kept up with a moderately loud rock band rehearsal with just one BF One10. Definitely not something to gig with often, but could do it at a pinch. With two cabs, easy-peasy.
  21. On the original post, Tom Anfield seems to be oop north somewhere, but unless there are two, Tom is to be found in SE Cornwall, see http://www.tomanfieldguitars.com/.
  22. As someone who cannot now lift anything remotely heavy, it means I can still play. I do like me some valves, though. Trained in electronics on thermionics!
  23. Little Marks II and III. Reliable and never failed to sound good.
