1.
In defence of Star Trekkin', at least they knew what they were so to speak. I remember ST being released (I'm fairly sure I have the 7" somewhere) and Trekkies were just pleased to have something/anything Trek related being regarded as popular. At least it does have key and tempo changes which is more than can be said for some of the other drivel here. At least the Blobby song has Clarkson in it looking more of a dick than usual - it's only redeeming feature!
This. It's Trek! Enough said!
2. Another P pickup. In my experience, the only 'J' pickup that can keep up with a P is the Yamaha BB bridge pickup, but not easy to buy those. So if getting the router out is on the horizon, go the whole hog and go P-P...
3. I had a VM P fret less, incredibly light, and fitted with a VM77 Jazz neck. All Squier bitsa, should never have parted with it.
4. Quite possibly time to move on, methinks. But have the meeting first.
5. Friday, wedding gig near Launceston, all good, Saturday at the Barbican Live Lounge in Plymouth. Again, good, but WAY too loud - actually added another tune to my tinnitus...
6. OK, mine is fairly simple. 2 basses, a Yamaha BB414 which is the main rock bass. For pretty much everything else, a bitsa Fender Precision - 2003 MIM, with a 1994 USA pickup, and a 2014 American Special Jazz neck. The BB currently wears Chromes, the Precision TI Jazz Flats. These feed a Boss TU2 which plugs into the amp, which is a... Markbass CMD121H, 2005, which has a Traveler 121H for the full bands, or solo for quieter stuff. That's it, nothing fancy!
7.
Great album by a much maligned artist.
This.
8.
I must have been lucky with my Squier VM P5 or possibly you were unlucky - I find the stock PU great and I'm the kind of tart that would change stuff out in a heartbeat.
This. I actually put a USA standard pickup in mine. Then returned it to stock. The upgrade I might make is Hipshot Ultralight tuners to improve weight and balance.
9.
Nothing better then When a trio is burning on all 6 cylinders. Blue
Can't beat it!
10. However you look at it, it's a name grab...
11. On my Precision, TI Jazz Flats are well over two years old and just nicely broken in. Chromes on Yamaha BB are a year and a bit, and are still plenty zingy and growly. Will probably consider some new strings around 2022, out of boredom, or if I get a new bass at some point (unlikely).
12. Friday night: short-notice gig at the Thistle Park Tavern in Plymouth, due to a cancellation. Did it as our original 3-piece line up as per when we started - a few weeks off 10 years ago! Blimey, where did that go... Really enjoyed going back to a trio, and the punters loved it too. Must do more as a 3-piece!
13. Thinking of putting one of these in the effects loop of my LMII (after modding it to series). I could probably arrange to leave it permanently fixed in the back of the 121H combo, even - just connect power when needed. Hmmm...
14.
Ford (brand) + Fiesta (model) = Ford Fiesta. Reliant (brand) + Robin (model) = Robin Reliant. What? CB
As a former Reliant owner, this drives me nuts. As does referring to Del boy's van as such. It was a Regal III, ffs...
15.
Duck Dunn in Blues Brothers. Double points for pipe.
Absolutely this!
16. Really sad about this. Unique tone.
17. Yamaha:- Chromes ECB81, 45-65-80-100 Fender - TI JF344, 43-56-70-100

19. Sad to have to stop, but I'm heading slowly down the same slippery slope, so know what you're feeling. Have fun with parlours and slides! Den
20.
Finding actual musicians can be a realllly hard & slow process. Finding wazzicks with guitars & karaoke singers, easy.
This...
21. Yup, CMD121H. Exactly the same setup. Sounded excellent!
22. Sellout at Tavistock Wharf, three hours plus playing, punters cheering was football-match loud, everyone happy! But loud, MUCH too loud. But then, it was never going to be quiet with a 20kW PA...
