1. Mildly hot pub gig Friday, better social club gig last night, but very hot, sweaty, and successful! Both dep gigs.
2. This week, my first ever serious problem with a courier (that I booked ). And it was Interparcel/UPS. Never had the slightest problem before. Had arranged to swap cabs with a guy in Doncaster. UPS up there missed the collection but managed it next day. My collection was fine. His cab turned up here, as expected, one day late. Mine was delivered to and signed for at a similar sounding address...in Grimsby. God knows how this is going to resolve, but I'll probably end up returning his cab and getting an insurance payout. Rats. What's wrong with UPS in Yorkshire?
3. I bought a Std EBS for my 425, it fitted perfectly.
4. Jus, we have identical daydreams! EB2-D, silverface Bassman 50, 2x15 cab. My dream 'living room' rig.
5. Oddly, they do nothing for me at all. The only such bass I've ever wanted was the EB2-D or the Epiphone Rivoli equivalent...
6. I'd be after this. The only Gibson bass I'd live with. http://www.ebay.co.u...cYAAOSwQupXUK6w
7. Another vote for the BB414, although I have to add that I've never played any Ibanez basses...
8. If a P bass is OK, then get hold of a Squier VM fretless P and swap the neck with a fretted one. When I did that, I ended up with a bass just below 7lb.
9.
All of my gear is immaculate, despite heavy gigging. I just look after it, it's not difficult.
This. Ask any craftsman. Good tools, whatever their initial cost, are worth spending time to care for properly. And, to repeat, it's not difficult. Anything else is laziness.
10.
No, being in a band is the most important bit for me, or rather being in a gigging band is, but I still love playing bass. If I weren`t in a band I`d still learn new songs, play along to my faves on youtube etc.
This.
11. Get your GP to refer you to a spinal specialist unit, not your local neuro/ortho guys. Yes, the ops can be scary, but the quicker you act, the greater the chances of a good outcome. Spinal Unit at Frenchay, Bristol, was my life saver.
12. I had a MIM Std p for ages, and that now wears an American Special maple Jazz neck. I got that from ebay. Crackin' bass!
