  2. I think it's important to recognise the distinction between different content creators. Some play so you can watch; others play so you can watch and learn. Some show and review gear and others primarily talk about gear. Then there are the teachers - music teachers, bass teachers, and those that do both. The rarest breed are the teachers who are great players/players who are great teachers; I'm not talking, in the immortal words of Flea, 'all flash and no smash', but the rounded players who also have a gift for teaching. The two that I really admire are Richie Blake and Dan Hawkins.
  3. I had a LaBella, tapewound, G string (stop it!) that rattled. I thought it was a high spot on my fretless, but I stuck it on a fretted and it still rattled. Contacted LaBella (it had been a good while since I purchased them from the retailer and knew I wouldn't get any help because of that) and they couldn't have been more helpful. I covered the postage and they sent me a new G string (oi! I've told you before ), rattle gone. The point of this tale is that it might be a faulty string, which appears to be a more common occurrence that you'd think.
  4. I recently sold a Big Sky. That should do everything you want. Prices have dropped, thanks to the introduction of the Big Sky MX Just a thought....
  5. Wow, I wouldn't have guessed the Cutlass necks to be made by Modulus. The Alembic and Musicman necks were constructed very differently to Modulus necks, with their woven graphite monocoques rather than the patchwork necks Modulus used on their own basses. Today I learned!
  6. I thought that he was going for the "comedy Yorkshire" thing! I see him in the pub from time to time. Nice guy, very short!

    Oldman Feedback

Brian sold me a nice pedalboard and case at a great price too. As also told in these nearly 9 pages of great feedback, he's a gentleman and Basschat Legend. Thanks Brian
  10. Has this happened since you changed the strings to tapes? How's the relief on the neck?
  11. Used Ray 35s near me seem to be pretty thin on the ground as well unfortunately
  12. Double P basses are the way to go... That looks great! GLWTS 👍
  13. I've owned and sold 2 of these and they're great cabs.
  14. I am considering it all seriousness but I usually use a 600w amp and I'm not sure if it will fit in the boot of my car (Astra J)
  15. Posting this here in case anyone is looking for a PA amp, although it will knock out 700W into 8 ohms mono bridged as an instrument amp. Hugely versatile 1U rackmount Class D design only 25cm deep, lots of inputs (see photos) output to speakers from speakon or binding posts Brand new, tested working, but never used in anger. Courier would be about £15

  17. If you can't stretch a bit to a used Ray 35 I'd hang on for a Tribute L-2500. I got to play the one Waynesworld on here was selling (now sold) as I was originally going to buy it, then committed to an ACG build in the interim. The neck on it was lovely, didn't feel overly chunky and I would have no problem getting through a gig or extended playing periods with it. I've owned a few L-2000 and Asat basses (both USA and Tribute) and like with the MFD pickups and triton electronics. Versatile instruments and definetely a Swiss army knife bass. Sound can be a bit dark/organic sounding if you're used to more hi-fi sounding basses and they definitely have a 'grind' about them. Harder to find are the M2500s which is much the same bass but with an 18v preamp, 3 band EQ and a blend control rather than the switching. The pickups are also wound a bit less than the L series so sounds a bit more generalised/neutral sounding. I had an M2500 which I really liked and on reflection should have kept.
  18. No, no more options please!!!
  19. Great player. But I find his "comedy Brummie" schtick tiresome and unfunny. Same reason I have no time for Davie, despite him being a good player.

  21. More ambient sort of sounds, pads, long sustain notes, that sort of thing. Nothing weird of whacky but ambient, soundscape sort of effects where you might hit a single note or the last note of the song and it does a nice ambient swell etc.
