  1. Past hour
  2. Me too at college. Couldn't play it now! 😆
  3. Yeah but only because Camel and Van der Graaf are there as well
  4. More of the same. I'm learning them on the upright. Damn but those guys are good! We're doing it with just vox, bass, guitar, and reduced drum kit, so don't have the orchestration which means we have to do our own versions. I'm trying to keep things as simple as possible so long as they sound good, so my walking bass lines are mostly arpeggios or chromatic.
  5. They've just left, should be with you soon. I know what you mean about the money, fortunately there's a Nigerian prince who's going to sub me.
  6. Are you sure? £7 in 1976 is £47.02 today!
  7. Sad Company Moth the Hoople Ian Munter
  8. I'd definitely have paid £7 to see Brand X and 801 on the same weekend (and it was one of the only three gigs 801 did) weather was appalling though, so I'd have to be beamed in by time machine bubble then magicked away again
  9. I’ve owned a couple of these and they are bloody decent basses, top quality all rounder. I’d have it if I wasn’t in the process of selling a bass. Good luck
  10. You all are right. The reason is because pro soundguys on the rock circuit are all about getting the band sounding as loud as possible, and that typically means the bass pays the price since they boost the shit out of the kick subs and attack and let the guitars dominate the mids. It sucks. Had a soundguy for a long tour that I spent a lot of time with and talked to other FOH guys and that was what they were all about. Their fear is coming on after another band and not being as loud, which I understand since loud is better to the average listener. The best way to compete and try and get in there is to put more hair on your tone. Works really well with a J since it will cut at around 800hz. The P needs rounds. It also helps a lot to use a pick if at all possible.
  11. Hi expat, just acknowledging your enquiry, will provide some more details in a day or two thanks
  12. When replacing the barrel jack, extend the leads if necessary (heatshrink on the joints, of course) so that you can pull them through the jack socket hole and solder outside the control cavity rather than fiddling around inside it. Note: don't forget to thread the leads through the nut inside the control cavity before passing them out. Barrel jacks are a consumable item.
  13. An entirely deliberate one, in contrast to motorcycle troubleshooting - if it seems like a fuel problem it's electrical, and if it seems electrical then it's a fuel problem.
  14. I use a Tecamp Puma 900 with my GR Bass AT212.
  15. Today
  16. Hello ! Do you still have the amp? I'm interested !
  17. I've never heard of it. Time for a google search Dave
  18. Exactly how I feel. Unfortunately if my band folded I could never find a band situation like the one I'm in with Maple Road. The nicer bookings. I'm driven to our gigs My bandmates and band leader are incredible. Very good money. Daryl
  19. Agreed, however the baby boomers here are not giving up on going out. Many still indulging in their old habits. We draw an older crowd. A lot of them, like me in their 70s. They grew up when live music was a huge part of their lives (the Woodstock generation). These folks are still going out and thank God they don't know when to quit. I was talking to an 80 year old guy at our gig last Saturday night. He was talking about the fact that he still drives, lives independently. He said loves the grooves and loves to dance. Daryl
  20. Selling my Mesa D800. Bought from BC in mint condition and have only used for a handfull of gigs. Still in mint condition as its lived in the case at home. Collection ideal but happy to ship at buyer's expense. Any questions give me a shout.
