I used to have one. Sounded pretty good into a Classic 60 power amp and cabs, but there wasn't very much pleasing about the tone straight out of the back and into a mixer. It was easy enough to overdrive, though, so you might like it if you put some decent speaker emulation after it; I ran it into a Torpedo C.A.B. for a while, but ultimately it wasn't worth the effort and expense to make it sound good compared to my usual SansAmp RBI / RPM / VT-RM. I seem to recall reading that the TG Raxx is internally identical to the TB, which might hint at why there's guitar level gain on a bass preamp, and also makes it easier to find one to try since either unit should suffice.

The simplified reply (cos it’s unnecessarily complicated) EBMM = US of A made instruments. current guises of the Stingray: Stingray Special 4 & 5 (The newest incarnation) Retro (more or less a copy of the original 70s Stingray) Shortscale Stingray check here for models and specs: https://www.music-man.com/instruments/basses Sterling by Musicman = more affordable versions of the above…mainly, with a few tweaks here and there. Made in Indonesia check here for models and specs: https://intl.sterlingbymusicman.com/collections/basses SUB = entry level versions of the above. models and specs are on the above link ^ If you want second hand and historical information you may need to sit down and take notes 😆 …..the waters are muddied by a well regarded series of basses produced in the USA to be more a bit more affordable in the (90s/00s?) before the advent of outsourcing production overseas…also called SUB… these are normally easily identified by their painted necks also.. also…. Another mythical series made in Japan… known as Musicman Ex. Similar sort of vintage… They look more or less identical to a USA stingray of the era but just don’t have made in USA written on them Then of course we have the complication that one of Musicmans bass model names is: Sterling… so you can get a Sterling by Musicman Sterling… etc 🤯 we could go on… I think most of the info on the two websites makes it pretty simple for current models. Perhaps if you’re searching for secondhand and not sure ask on here with links for what you’re looking at

Promenade are a great shop and deserve to keep going. I especially like how they post and date their latest, newly arrived stock on line. Wish we had a shop like this down in Cornwall/Devon.

Good morning. I have just made an impulse purchase and got myself a Yamaha RBX700RS. I really like the look of it and its made in Japan which is always a good sign. With that said, I have done some research and have found little to no information about this bass other than what I can find in some old Yamaha catalogues. Anyone heard of this bass and can give me abit mroe information about it? Cheers!

How was your open mic or jam night last night?
tauzero replied to tauzero's topic in General Discussion
Just to follow on from those events, there's a report today that the motorcyclist died after a collision with a tractor. On a happier note, Mrs Zero accompanied me to the open mic tonight. I didn't take a guitar, as one of the hosts played guitar for us on some songs we'd prearranged. Very enjoyable evening, kept me on my toes as there were three songs I didn't know - cue rapid exploration of Ultimate-Guitar.com to find the chords and squinting at my phone to follow them. And I jumped up to play "Nights in white satin" with one performer, and then discovered that he was tuned a semitone down, always a recipe for disaster. -

I've got a D-Tuner on the B string of my Sei 6-string (so maybe it should be an A-Tuner). Can I join your groove, swagger, and oikish malevolence club? -

Lovely piece of work. I assume that either the reeds have locators so they are perfectly placed, or they didn't want to show the 200 hours of tuning them all up. Very ingenious cutter to make the rubbers, that must have been quite a task though to make 61 of them. -
The SVP won't break up as it's not designed to. The SVP PRO will add valve drive by pushing a 12AU7 into overdrive, but it's not just diode clipping. 10001c1_.pdf Page 2 shows the arrangement and use of the 5 preamp tubes - V4 is the 12AU7 responsible for the 'drive' circuit. It can sound a bit 'fizzy' when running direct to a desk, but through a power amp and an 8x10 it's glorious.

Tonight I suggested we repeat the delicate ballad with harmonies that shares our band name as a more energetic encore. I demonstrated what it could be like by activating my octaver, brassmaster and mojo mojo simultaneously. Boy I got some swagger, enough to make your average death metal fan cry. I convinced the band it was a good idea.
