Complementary to Guy Pratt's book is Nick Mason's book Inside Out, if you happen to like Pink Floyd.
-
Agreed. We're also not what you would consider main stream. However, we have our niche and there's plenty of venues for us to play. We know the venues where you know the crowd wants covers like " Don't Stop Believing " . It's better for us to turn those gigs down. Daryl
-
Agreed. Over here when a venue changes hands it's undoubtedly the " kiss of death " for the bands. Daryl
-
As mentioned, mine produce noise if I plug them in straight, but if I plug them in to a lead that is connected to the input, the noise goes away, so I guess it needs the filter network of a guitar cable to filter out the noise. Interested to hear what the A58s are like, I looked at those (and the fender ones) as a replacement for the WS90/WS70s I use but haven't picked anything yet.
-
That's a very unfortunate scenario. Here's another issue. The band arrives with members acting like "diva rock stars" and making unnecessary demands on the venue. It seems like such an easy proposition. We work for them ,they don't work for us. Daryl
-
Agreed. Relieing on call back business might work for a while and with some venues. However not a good practice for bands that want to make money. Daryl
-
Too loud is an issue and the venue might not tell you that was the reason a band wasn't asked back . I say, in the case a band is playing a restaurant or anywhere you are providing background music, keep the volume low. And if your in a loud band, maybe not accept the background music gigs. Daryl

I bought this to use as a backup whilst my old amp was being serviced. It’s a superb little unit. Bought new recently and rehearsed and gigged a couple of times since. Works as it ought to and is very powerful. I used it through my 8ohm cab and it was loud and punchy. It’s got some cosmetic surface scratches on the top but nothing terrible. Boxed with mains lead and manual (I think). I can post in the UK. PayPal please.

I only use my Boss CEB-3 Bass chorus in conjunction with the SY-1 on my board to add a pseudo rotating speaker effect to an organ sound.

Personally, i take them out and use masking tape to affix them to the inside of the pickup cover, then put the covers back in the case/storage.

I got the Xvive A58 system today. Im very impressed with it. It's shorter than my Lekato WS-90 by a noticeable amount, but a bit deeper. It fits on my P bass much better and doesn't stick out like the WS-90 does. They are even more compact than the Xvive U2. Im sure my WS-90's are either faulty or just not very well shielded (guessing the second). No issues with how good they sound and are noise/dropout free as far as what I hear on headphones and through as rig, but ive encountered 3 situations where they have cause other equipment to produce noise. The latest one I discovered tonight when I have the receiver plugged in to my Blood Moon phaser. When I engage and disengage it there is a very loud noise. Much more than there should be. No issue with either of my Xvive systems. That, as well as the disruptive noise I got when using the Ampeg SGT-DI, and if I put my hand hear the receiver when its off and plugged in to something means they will now just be a back up for live stuff.

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
YellowLedBetterBass replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Tonight was the penultimate rehearsal with the new lineup before our first gig together. If we play like that on stage at the weekend, the punters will be in for a treat Mixed all the levels right on the XR18 for a good room sound, and everyone was happy with their individual in ear mixes. I was especially pleased with my Tonex One sounds, having gone back to Amalgams Bassman amp+DI captures from their Tonex One pack. It's the exact same captures I used for guitar but it sounded mega on bass too, so maybe the answer for me if I go back to using a proper amp for guitar is to just buy a bassman and have it cover both guitar and bass.
