    I'd also point out that a higher string action will make your instrument project better and also let you dig in more. Of course, you might have a high action already... I'm sure the riser will help. When I got my first bass guitar, I haven't had an amp for a while. Practicing, sitting on my bed, I've noticed that the bass was amplified by the one-piece headboard that I pushed the bass' body onto by accident. I played in that spot all the time. 🙂

    Definitely have it professionally appraised before proceeding down any route to sell it. There's a few luthiers and sellers in the uk that are specialized and/or knowledgeable with basses.

    Lovely bass by the way. I'm on the lookout for a slim necked Spector. They have a georgous US relic'd NS2 with the thin neck at Bass Direct, but its the thick end of seven grand, which is an awful lot of money...

    Thats a good question. Its easy enough to take a bit of depth out of the 'shoulders' of a neck. Its also fairly straightforward to make a neck shallower from front to back as long as you have enough clearance from the underneath of the truss rod. I think though that the Wimbish ones are 1.5" wide at the nut and the standard ones are 1.61" (thats from memory so I might be wrong on the exact decimals), so that would be quite a job, reducing the width at the neck and then in turn changing the taper of the neck from where it joins the body. I'd be interested to know if anyone has had this done?

      You do realise that the Washburn S1000 isn't that good, don't you? You'd be better off looking for one of the wooden necked real Status models like an Energy/Series I, Groove, Barracuda, or Eclipse. They at least have the true Status sound and build quality. There's a very nice Claret Red Groove for sale on here that used to be mine.

    A floor is one big unit. The comparison between a tiny neck and an acre of maple is not fair. A carpenter told me that any wooden floor moves, no matter if it's oiled, painted, or lacquered. It should float, or it can be attached from one side, but it moves a lot. I've had necks that need a tiny bit of adjusting in spring and autumn, like the original Affirma fretted 4, but not the fretless 5. My basses with carbon necks are stable round the year.
