  1. Past hour
  2. Bashes are gatherings of basschatters and guests where we take lots of gear along, chat and try stuff out, sometimes a speaker gives a chat. If you could get along to one, it would be a good opportunity for me/someone to have a good look at your bass.
  3. He could have done with that in Colditz.
  4. Keep 'em coming, Chris! The more the merrier!
  5. This might seem crude but if you tap on the pickups with a hex key or similar just under the G string and then compare to the loudness of the taps under the other strings, does it sound quieter under the G. Remember the shape of the reverse P in that soapbar cover. The pickup part will be forward under the G, at the back under the E. For the J, the coil is at the back and the front is empty. I've just tried it on mine and it's the same on all strings.
  6. Indeed. Not that any of it matters. He was just Bob Marley. One of the greatest songwriters ever.
  7. Furthermore Nathan Watts was the official musical director of Stevie Wonder back then and during years.
  8. The cultural appropriation accusations on that song could get a bit complicated, bearing in mind that Bob Marley was half Welsh, or half English, or half white Jamaican, depending on who you believe.
  9. Exactly @MartinB. 😉
  10. I bought one, reasonably cheaply scouring the Italian equivalent of Gumtree. Impulse buy after seeing a video of the bass player in Sean Lennon’s old band playing one. Really distinctive sound, presumably mainly down to the aluminium neck.
  11. What can I say about this pedal that hasn't already been said? Super cool and unique filter used by Flea and lots of other people. No other filter I've come across sounds quite like this little green beast, and it also does the famous "dub trick" of turning your bass into a subby monster by turning off the sensitivity so the filter doesn't open. It's been well used in it's ~30 year lifetime with a few bumps and scrapes in the finish, but all is working as it should. Somehow the notoriously "difficult to keep hold of" battery door is still intact on this one! No velcro, and rear sticker with serial number still intact also. Really cool pedal that I owned a number of years ago, and wanted to revisit it out of nostalgia! I've had my fun with it here at home, and now it's time to pass it on. Boss to 3.5mm power adaptor included. Looking for exactly what I paid for it from here a few weeks ago: £60. Add a £5er for delivery, or can be picked up from Ickenham NW London.
  12. Up for sale is my Bright Onion Mini Dual Momentary Footswitch. Perfect companion for HX Stomp etc to add a couple of switches. In great condition, with velcro on the bottom. Will include a 28cm EBS Flat TRS Patch Cable (£7 new). This pedal + cable would be £40 posted from Bright Onion, so on offer here for £28 posted. Any questions, please ask. Cheers!
  13. Up for sale is an absolutely mint condition Broughton Carina Phaser. I bought it on here a few months ago from the original owner who had only had it out of the box once before putting it up for sale to go towards wedding funds. It's then lived in its box in a drawer at my house ever since, as I really have no need for a Phaser, as much as I love the sound - which is absolutely LUSH! Absolutely brand spanking new, no velcro, original box (which I have labelled with a sharpie as it was just completely blank) £150 + postage, or can meet/be picked up in Ickenham/London.
  14. Up for sale is my Novation Bass Station 2 Synthesizer. In excellent condition, and comes with the original USB cable for connecting to the computer/powering it and a couple of preset packs. £250 collected from Ickenham, or can meet in London. Postage to be added on top and paid for by the buyer.
  15. I am going with Nathan unless someone can convince me otherwise!
  16. Perhaps that the secret of their success. I recall that Charlie punched Jagger in the face after he Jagger referred to him as "my drummer". Charlie said he was the Stones drummer and not Micks, and then punched him. I suppose the most famous band mates who hated each other (as far as I know) were Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker. Did one of them pull a knife on the other? Someone said the most astonishing thing about Cream was not their music, but the fact they actually made any music at all. Mind you @AndyTravis is providing an awful lot of material for a book or a film. Rob
  17. Once I got the passive and active tones at the same volume on my V7 5 I don think I bothered with active most of the time.
  18. ^This entirely. Not many of those out there and they sound great.
  19. No issues. Any questions, please let me know. Shipping available.
  20. OK so the criteria is a middle class person can only get involved if the end result is good? So does that include Siouxsie and the Banshees? Would Abel be open to abuse if the words were clumsy and who gets to judge what art is good or not anyway? Edit: My take on this is just be sensitive to the subject matter. If Eric Clapton had covered I shot the Sheriff in a fake Jamaican accent it would have been parody. As it was IMO it was neither offensive nor anywhere near as good as the original.
  21. I have an old GK amp which needs looking at. Surrey Amps have been recommended, but they are very far away from me. Who is Dennis the Legend?
  22. You just mean moving the loudest (serial) position to one end of the switch, right? So that when flicking between settings, you don't have to go "across" the loudest one.
  23. One of my fave Journey songs.... just stunning Featuring, among other things, Steve Perry's amazing, soulful vocals....Neal Schon's perfect guitar solo (Rick Beato's fave solo too!) and Ross Valory's chorus soaked bass and harmonics....
