  2. Just purchased a new Darkglass microtubes 500v2 , managed to have a great conversation with Chris over at Darkglass, I asked him about the faulty units that have been reported , power failures, overheating etc, He explained that during the covid time and afterwards they could not get the quality parts they required to make the amps , so they basically had to make do with what they could source at the time, hence the problems, The new versions of the amp have new power modules and are marked 3 ohm rather than 2ohm on the older amps, they do not expect any issues with the new versions as all parts are up to their high standards and specifications, I was kinda relieved to hear this, as I was reading about all the problems and wondered if I had just purchased a lemon!!! The amp arrived today with the 3ohm marked above the output , so defo one of the new ones , That amp sounds incredible it really does , my Spector CST sounds like a different instrument, seriously , amazing clarity and power the harmonics are just popping from the fret board , I am very impressed with this plus the amount of control you have over the sound , The cabinet and microphone software works well too plenty of choice from factory presets, the best part for me is the graphic, it is very sensitive and makes a huge difference to the over all sound . So don’t be afraid to buy one of these amps , I did a test recording via the XLR output, you get the sound of the amp captured you just have to increase the gain on your mixer or audio interface there is no control over level via the amp , it’s ok to work with though, looking forward to capturing our next track with the Darkglass.
  3. That looks great, also I want to just give moral support for a fellow hater of routers. They are the devil's tool, to be avoided as much as possible. And don't don't get me started on table routers, not even once man.
  4. Can't tell you I'm afraid, I'm not too well up on their models. Annoyingly, the few I've noodled on have been nice basses and I know they make good instruments. It's more just a mental thing that my brain doesn't like 😂
  5. In an old glam band I was in we played a venue where the managers had changed and the new guy, whilst honouring all existing bookings, didn’t want music so did no promotion. Not only didn’t we get asked back, he asked us if we’d accept £100 to stop playing and go away. Quite proud of that!
  6. I just lose myself in the bliss of playing along with someone, even if not for money. I work from home and I have a stack of chores and tasks that dwarfs a Gallagher ego. It’s nice to be out….
  7. I use it on everything these days. It suits what we do.
  8. Stub I can go back and forth on this topic. This is how I feel today. I'm 71 years old and I'm lucky I have something as cool as gigging in a rock band almost every weekend. That's what's keeping me in the game. After almost 60 years I haven't lost the interest in this or the ability to play . Plus I need the money. Lol Daryl
  9. Because they're dangerous, unpredictable, difficult to control, at the mercy of the tides, expensive, slow, fun to helm and it's difficult to get them to change course.
  10. Not unusual. I've seen it where at the end of the night the staff has no clue about settling up with the band. If the head boss man isn't there, usually there's an envelope under the cash drawer. Daryl
  11. According to my Vernier it's 44.4mm.
  12. Pretty much 1kg less than the new bass!
  13. Weird Science - Oingo Boingo
  14. Today
  15. Strange Times - The Moody Blues
  16. Interesting. Over here I'd have to say the booking folks couldn't care less what the patrons think about bands Daryl
  17. I think the other element we have to consider is, a lot of these venues change management every other week. Daryl
  18. Also turned up to a gig where there was a new manager who had 'lost' our contact details. He said they weren't doing our type of band anymore but we could play. The locals loved it and said they didn't like the new manager (who has since gone and the pub is now doing what its been well known for over the last 20+ years). Weird thing was, he said he could see the bands that were playing at the pub, on Lemonrock. Obviously not able to use Facebook or google.
  19. Yep around during the days and most evenings
  20. I've played gigs where the manager who booked us hasn't even been there on the night. The locals have quite a large say in whether bands get rebooked, regardless of how many people you bring along. One of my locals was literally held ransom by the locals, it felt uncomfortable for visitors, they had a lot of influence on what beer was on tap, what music was played etc, but there weren't enough of them to keep the pub running. Quite short sighted of the landlord not to get on top of it.
  21. 1 year since I got my Warwick Fortress Flashback 5 - it is a very well made instrument - I like it a lot more than I though I would - it is a top bass guitar for trying out pedals - replacing the nut was a good idea by the luthier I use - it's a heavy instrument but balance well standing , I just need a way better strap - strap lock So overall quite happy with this
  22. This is typical of what happens with new management. It was nice that you guys pulled the plug on them before they pulled it on you. We have a great relationship The Harley Motor Restaurant. We get on great with the staff and manager, comped drinks and food. However, the manager has absolutely nothing to do with the bookings. It's done by a 3rd party agency that could turn on as at anytime for any reason. Daryl
  23. The best guitar stand is a nice big speaker cab where you can rest your P bass, with 2 equidistant strap buttons on the base, against it. But that is pretty niche.
  24. New Order / Joy Division Sisters of Mercy Siouxsie and the Banshees The Cure brown boss ce-2b and or brown boss bf-2b
  25. Turdburst actually refers to those finished where cruddy browns that face into slightly less cruddy browns or sometimes orange and yellow for some inexplicable reason. But let's not split hairs as they're equally appalling. Antigua burst is more like a snapshot of an engorged bubo exploding.
  26. It is a K+M. It will work. But that picture makes it super attractive.
