  2. Classic. Get this for the fretboard; https://www.montysguitars.com/products/montys-montypresso-relic-wax
  3. I have to say that the 18-34 year old demographic is in a very precarious situation. If anyone needs to wake up and smell the coffee it’s that demographic. Modern day techno serfdom is tantalisingly close. The idea that corporate culture pays anything other than lip service to their values is also faintly ridiculous to me. The moment that the tide changes so will corporate culture.
  4. I see Nik Kershaw whenever he is nearby, not too often these days, sadly. He is an immense talent. Saw him do a solo acoustic gig at Union Chapel which was a huge amount of fun. He started to introduce 'The One and Only' and thanked Chesney for earning him so much money, adding 'Mind you, Chesney is a bit of a w@nker' only to be joined on stage by him a second later. Very funny. Then they played it, fantastic. As an aside, Nik Kershaw did a tour with Go West a few years ago. Go West would play some tunes, then Nik, then both together - all with the Go West band (who are fab). They all seemed to be having an absolute blast of a time. There was a bit where they played one of the others' songs but in their own style. Nik played 'Missing Persons' and his arrangement was just stunning. It remains one of the best gigs I have ever seen.
  5. I actually prefer a direct sale, but it always depends. Maybe you can send me your ideas via pm.
  6. Doesn't matter. That's not what our corporate policy is. I'm 57 and I remember when arguments like this were mainstream and considered perfectly reasonable. They aren't anymore, at least by the all important 18-34 demographic. You can care or not care, but it is what it is. If I, as a resident of Chelsea, made fun of the people in a slum, that's punching down no matter how they may outclass me personally. If they made fun of me, then it's punching up and is acceptable to society. Maybe it won't be someday, but it is now and is certainly how we view these things at work.
  7. Still my fave all round bass 2x12 bass cab. GLWTS!
  8. Markbass 1 15 lightweight cabinet. Started life as a Markbass CMD JB Players School Combo but the amp failed. Has since had light use as a cheap and cheerful lightweight 1 15 cabinet 200w 8ohm. Unconventional connector- has fixed cable original to combo with speak-on plug attached Approx. dimensions (W x H x D): 47.5 x 46.4 x 48 cm Weight: 14 kg photos to follow
  9. My old ‘80 band used to do Wouldn’t It Be Good & The Riddle. With regard to to period accuracy, we also did Walking on the Moon on the presumption that it would have still been played on the likes of Radio1, etc in 1980.
  10. We saw Nik Kershaw live in December 2024 for the 40th anniversary tour of his two first albums and it really was an excellent concert.
  11. I have an HB Shorty with a Tonerider pickup and find it absolutely delightful. You know the score with these so I say copy and paste!
  12. Big Low End

    NPGD

Previously never been entirely convinced by the look of a tortoiseshell pickguard on a black bass but decided to give it a go. I like it a lot (and yes I wish the fingerboard was a bit darker).
  13. Just a small point. This is one of the limited edition series, not the the 40th anniversary series that had a special logo and LEDs. More faithful to the originals, almost as rare as the 40th and personally I'd prefer this beauty to one with a 40th anniversary logo on it. If this was in the UK I'd be on the way with cash in hand, after a bit of negotiation 😉. GLWTS, and I hope you feel better soon.
  14. That's more likely to be a 'photoflame', which is a lot easier to predict.
  15. Can't remember where I heard those numbers but clearly they were utter tosh! Glad I caveated myself with 'could be wrong!' 😆
  16. Bump! And here is our very own Dood's in depth video review!
  17. Sure. Stay in touch. Pop me a PM and I’ll give you my number. It’s a small thing but has a heft. I’m happy to throw in a cheap old wheelie trolley but I’m not sure it’s a good idea to roll a valve amp along the pavement!
  18. I always introduce it as a song written by Nik Kershaw we also do Wouldn't it be good both great songs
  19. I know New Cross. Used to live Greenwich and took the train from.New Cross Gate to Croydon . I'm looking when I'm next down in London and wondering if I can make it work as I'm on the train.
  20. I can get a box from the local music shop by all means, yes. But you take the risk. (I've posted instruments before and suffered a huge loss, so personally I'm very wary.)
  21. SE14 New Cross but I travel into central WC1e every week so happy to take it in if you want to meet up.
  22. If you're happy to go used you could look at an Ibanez Talman, they often come up within your budget.
