  1. Past hour
  2. They weren’t compared to the SVT we compared it against but that’s not a fair fight. 😂😂
  3. @Hellzero thanks! I’d also looked at the GR One manual but couldn’t find that bit, just the reference to the studio mode for the higher models. Being able to turn the fan off is certainly promising.
  4. That's a fine looking thing, even by ACG standards.
  5. To my knowledge I have never played in a band with anyone holding far right, racist or homophobic views. Such views are abhorrent, but if they keep their opinions to themselves I don't see why I shouldn't be in a band with them. The situation would change, and I would be happy to have strong words, if they were openly expressing such nastiness.
  6. And I did wonder if the Lull M4V is the Warmoth smaller Jazz body, but couldn’t be arsed to look and compare. Anyways, we met Mike and he was cool, and his basses feel amazing, so just saying.
  7. well, just to wander further off the point (whatever it was), have a different take on the fretted/fretless combo bass. I've always admired the sensitivity and taste of cronos' fretless playing If memory serves, Lee Sklar had mandolin frets fitted to one of his basses so he could emulate fretless style sounds
  8. Hi Chris, Seems I don’t automatically get a notification when someone replies! I’ve PM’d you the number. Terry
  9. Impending retirement means that I need to de-clutter, beginning with some of my beloved basses. A Beautiful bass bought from here in 24, with a great sound, which I am just not using much. It is the real deal with gorgeous looks and construction in my honest opinion. Someone out there will love it. It is also loud enough to practice with without an amp IMHO! Happy to post as it comes with a generic hard case that fits archtop basses "The Gretsch G5442BDC Electromatic Hollow Body Short Scale bass guitar has a comfortably short scale at 30.25", and is armed with two powerful "Black Top" Filter'Tron™ bass pickups, giving it an electrifying deep-end voice and identity. The double-cutaway hollow and bound body offers full bass tone and balance, and is finished in Transparent Red." Note: I have been asked about neck dive, just in case you are worried about that this is my answer. "I can't say that it has bothered me,. Being an true hollow body/archtop It is very light and hangs horizontally, but it feels normal to rest my right arm on the body, which pushes the neck upwards to a comfortable, natural playing position. It also feels good sitting down. I imagine that the longer scale Gretsch hollows may have serious neck dive". G5442BDC Spec sheet.pdf

  10. Yeah, I’m about to retire (from work, not playing bass!) and thinking of buying it. 🤔😂
  11. Just picked this up, thanks I havent really pushed it to be honest but will give that a try
  12. Funny you say that; when I was looking at Warmoth I noticed their P Bass easy access neck heals looked liked a Lull, plus the 21 fret ramp is the same, and they are pretty close geographically, so wondered if they did parts for him… 🤔 I’ve had 4 Lull basses, 1 was exceptional but the other 3 just very good, which is a concern now they are £3-4K
  13. Have to admit that you're right. 😁
  14. I have just bought my first fretless bass. When I play the G string it makes a sound that I can only describe as fret buzz... but there are no frets obviously. It's only on the G, could it be that I need to raise the action on it? Also, when I press down quite quickly on a string it produces a hollow metallic sound, any idea what is causing this. My point of reference is my only other bass, a squier p bass.
  15. Sounds like you have enough
  16. Interesting original question. I feel if the political view gets in the way of creation and causes a funky energy and vibe yes I wouldn’t join the band. I feel we all have different views on things in life but I hope we are mature enough to be able to agree to disagree and focus on the task at hand when it’s clear tension is building. If that’s not possible 👋🏾.
  17. Indeed. But it's fully shielded and looks the part, if you like CAR that is. 😊 It is what it is I guess. I'd have been interested but Mrs PJ has warned me that another bass in the house would be bad for my health! I tried "the optimum number is what you have plus one" approach. She's having none of that. Two road bikes, lots of golf clubs and ten basses already. You know how it is...
  18. The complete Anthony Jackson bass part for the tune 'Endeavour' from the 2012 Hiromi Trio Project album, 'Move'. Some challenging passages but it's do-able. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/endeavour-hiromi-uehara/
  19. I couldn't be in a band with anyone with views that were that offensive to me. First of all, because the company that someone keeps is often a good indicator of their character and I would not wish to be presumed to be a right cnut because of someone else's opinion (besides which, there are plenty of other perfectly valid reasons to presume that about me anyway) Secondly, because I find it just about impossible to keep my big mouth shut and the frequency of arguments that would result would impact badly on the productivity of this band Having spent some time working in the trades (following years of work in the liberal arts), this was a frequent problem. Building sites have always featured a higher than average proportion of racists, homophobes etc that seem to feel emboldened to pass frequent comment by that setting
  20. This is a really interesting topic. Personally, at the level of a ‘weekend warrior’, I don’t expect or need to be ‘mates’ with the people I play with. If someone is espousing extreme or illegal nonsense, then that’s beyond the pale. But, if what they believe doesn’t affect the working of the band and it doesn’t affect the relationship with audiences and venues, does it matter? It’ll be very sad if people with different views can’t find common ground to work together.
