  2. Now they just need to find some customers. I love Steinberger but I fear this bass is a bit too "niche" to be a success. A better marketing plan would be if Ned were to manufacture a faithful and definitive version of the classic XL2 bass and then introduce new and innovative models as well as that recognised classic model. This Finn bass would stand a better chance under those circumstances. However, many years ago Ned told me there was zero chance of him ever making the XL basses again for a whole host of reasons, and that probably hasn't changed, so it's all just wishful thinking on my part. It's just that a headless graphite six string with fanned frets has a fairly narrow appeal. Ned will need to convince some technical metal dudes with deep pockets that they need to invest in his bass rather than an established market-leader like Dingwall. I wish him luck, though, I hope he proves me wrong.
  3. G4M are great ! Nearly had a heart attack when you asked if they're still going . Can’t lose anymore top retailers .
  4. I'm gonna jump in on this and offer my unwanted 2p about this as I've been a mostly Dingwall user for a few years now, and have been lucky enough to play Canadian exclusively and not import, my only foray into headless territory has been with an ehb1505ms and it has been disappointing to say the least(will not go into this but price is unjustified by the quality of what arrived) From information gathered from the few videos they put out about the headless, Dingwall have said this will currently only be a custom, so no import on it, I assume because it would probably break the bank even as an import, or they can't justify changing their designs with the Chinese factories that easily. Either way, everyone is bashing on the design, but to me it seems like a very good combo of both old and new, maintains the AB shape, which one could say is the definition of modern basses currently(subjectively from Dingwall users and some others as well), and introduces a bridge and nut that are somewhat marrying the old design with new technology, the Kubicki like "headstock" redesigned and the bridge with the tuners(wheels on it), that i personally have only seen used in 2 basses, and older one which I can't remember the brand of rn and Alusonic Doom). Obviously everyone is picking it apart and rightfully so, expectations for this design and bass have been like the second coming of JC for some of us, and it's normal to be somewhat disappointed, you cannot please everyone, and at the end of the day look at Fender and gibson and all the other big players, do you think they listen to their mass market...hell no. Overall i think it's a cool bass, looking forward to finding out how much i need to re-mortgage my house for to get one that I will most likely sell at a loss because i can't get used to the lack of a headstock that i have also been hating for 20 years, anyway, i think we are way off from receiving one anyway, what's their waiting period for custom shops, 18 months? We'll probably see some in the wild in a year or so...gives us all time to get used to the idea that we want/not need one and start saving for it :)))) just so we can complain that it's not the same level/quality/bla as the other custom shops or, gods forbid, the imports. That is all from me atm, will report more as we go along PS: i only capitalized the companies i respect

  6. Also not a Dingwall fan, but I like the innovations here. The flip thing for hanging is pretty neat, and when you consider how guitars are displayed in the majority of shops, it's probably going to help them stand out.
  7. It sounds like if they keep going the way they are , the gigs will dry up . Not sure how long they've been gigging ,from what you said . If it was the first or second gig, then maybe advise gentle constructive criticism if asked . I must admit you did make me laugh at your observations . I would keep out of it otherwise if it were me . I don’t know if you could be washing the cat 🐈‍⬛ the next time he asks you to go along 🤔. Alternatively they could do some show stopping songs when the audience dwindles . Tracks such as ‘don’t leave me this way ‘, ‘ if you gotta go now ‘ ‘ should I stay or should I go ‘ etc musos react differently to criticism as we know . Having said that ,you have to keep on improving. This includes taking criticism not in a personal manner , but something to spur you on to improve . Trouble with that is , when most of the band are poor , not all take the constructive criticism kindly ..
  8. Thanks Phil - typo? "Hum can be transmitted..." Just to prove I read your comments word for word, haha!
  9. Whoops, forgot that, for now at least, I'm a two Thunderbird household, so have another Epiphone in your face!
  10. The owner has had the bass for about 5 years. Headstock is matching, but for some reason the colour has faded. Wasn't kept in the sun
  11. I’d say don’t criticise but offer some tips/guidance, but make sure it’s advice that they would be able to take on.
  12. Wow! A Steinberger 6-string with fan frets and a ramp. Looks great - probably will cost a fortune. Sans headstock haters chime in! Those without back pain enjoy! Video on 'Bass the World's facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/basstheworldcom
  13. If you want a traditional P-style sound and feel then the Sire is probably a better bet. The Yamaha is a decent entry-level BBC, but the Sire is a much more faithful rendition of a Fender Precision. Whether it's a P Bass, Jazz Bass or Stingray, Sire get shockingly close to the sound and playability of the more expensive basses they are trying to emulate.
  14. I’m not entirely sure what the point is here, but effectively you’re agreeing with me it seems. That the primary reason for owning this is that someone else can’t. That they’re status symbols and rarities accrued for their perceived value rather than any intrinsic quality. This sort of thing is the apotheosis of vintage mania. I’m not on the sideline chucking stones, I’ve actively participated for years in the market. (Check my sales history!) But, perhaps like some who has been released from a cult I can see how utterly bonkers it is.
  15. Three Wheels On My Wagon — The New Christie Minstrels
  16. Just to be clear - only the cab is for sale. Happy to work out the details with you but please PM to discuss.
  17. Gonna part this out, make me an offer, I’ll probably say yes.
  18. I’ll knock a tenner off any of the remaining pedals - postage in the UK included.
  19. Spanish Caravan - The Doors
  20. In very good used condition, hardly used with original box, power supply, manual and other candy. Velcro on the bottom. Includes UK postage. Collection/demo available London N21
  21. Boss Dual Cube Bass LX, bought for a project (one gig!) playing bass Uke when it sat on a table and ran off its batts. Never used again since (Other than to test before sale). before you ask, no it won’t keep up with a Heavy metal covers band on a gig, but it is a decent practice amp and could be used (as I did) on small acoustic gigs or even a campfire jam if that’s your bag? With the addition of the Bluetooth adapter (not included) you can access the app and program the LX to your hearts content. Add a footswitch (also not included) you can turn effects on and off, starts/stop the inbuilt drum machine or start stop the inbuilt looper. This unit is in immaculate/brand new condition with all the packaging and candy - manual, boss PSU, mini jack cable. I’ll include UK postage in the price too. Any questions please ask.

  22. Still arguably Boss’ best bass multi FX. It has the dual signal chains that the ME90 lacks. The algorithms are ancient by today’s standard, but as a catch all fx machine it hard to beat. When powered on can be seen from space (it is littered with blue LED’s - remember when that was a thing!) Comes with its original power supply and a tatty but functional Gator soft case. Oh and I had it serviced about 6 months ago so it’s all working nicely. Happy to demo here in London N21 or postage is an option (included in the price). Happy to knock off a tenner for collection.

  23. Short scale 30” bass. I bought this new a few years ago to put on a Roland GK hex pickup hence the two screw holes either side of the bridge. I also managed to knock one of the tuners and dislodge the elephant ear. I spent a few months looking for the right tuner to replace it, when I found a guy on Facebook MP selling the neck (including tuners) for next to nothing. I modded it a little but for fun - it has a daft (and very easy to remove) competition stripe sticker. It came with Jazz bass style knobs (which I have somewhere and will include) which I replaced with some push on black metal jobs I would say the pickups sound really good on this and they have a good hot output. NOTE: the 2nd neck has one broken tuner (the E string one), you can just see it in the pics. I now have another bass which has the GK pickup so this is now up for grabs. Cheap as chips, might be good for a beginner or a modder - fretted and fretless? Collection only at he moment, demos welcome here in London N21, although its in desperate need of a new set of strings!

  24. Just tell him you have tinnitus and that night was really bad and couldn't concentrate on the music... Honestly?? If you think he is a good musician , tell him that and tell him that he can do better . If he asked for your opinion perhaps he knows you are more experienced and perhaps your advice would help him to find a better set of musician who could also help him grow .
