Sandberg TM5 (old Fender shape) maybe it's a JM5? Now £1100

It will depend on what you are looking for…….specs, finish, target weight, budget, time frame etc……as an idea of starting point, a one piece paulownia blank is about £125-150, if you want it painted and nitro finish, then that needs a month to cure before final sanding and polishing so that will affect time frame. Poly clear coat would be quicker over paint. Solid colour or burst? Maybe post what your vision is? Feel free to message me.

Hello, Funny enough, looks like i am not the only one somehow feeling that the old gear is ,,the thing,,.. I have accumulated few bass heads lately since i moved away from,,headphone,, silent practice (Zoom B1 Four) to fully fledged bass heads & cabs.. In the order i got these: Warwick Gnome iPro v2 Trace Elliot GP7SM 150W Ashdown RM 500 EVO and latest acquisition GK 400RB III 15” combo. I can for sure say that Trace Elliot is great sounding (to me) and what surprises me (bear in mind i am forever newbie and not really experienced in amps as such) it can push low end very nice and clean without being pushed hard on overall volume. Simply said at low volume it can by loud in terms of low end without breaking sweat or I don’t know how to explain it.. Found out by using ,,shape,, button and generally mucking about with graphic eq etc. Sounds fab for measly £55 i paid for it though had to drive for 2 hours each way.. Ashdown sounds good too. The GK 400RB III - for that brief time i played with it yesterday evening i can say this combo (15” speaker) is just from another planet… Everything that i said about Trace Elliot applies here, the sound is obviously different so i am not going to say it’s better the Trace as this is highly personal opinion to everyone. The cherry on the top is the cooling fan - it doesn’t spin if there is no need for it.. So dead quiet, actually I need to find out how to push the amp to see if it kicks in at all.. Heavy as hell though 😁 Warwick amazing at it’s size but absolutely no match to TE never mind GK in terms of impression you get from how it sounds. Fantastic thing though given it’s A5 in size and just over an inch thick, very quiet fan. Moral story: If i was pushed to keep one or two it would be definitely: 1:GK 2:TE 3:Ash 4:Warwick There is something in the old iron, it’s just the feeling that you can open it up and actually see what is wrong with it rather than shrugging the shoulders and bin it.. If it is old & heavy it must be good.. 👍 😁

So I’m now officially on the worship team rota at our church - which is so great. Looks like it’ll be once a month for the evening service, plus some ad hoc fill ins. Right now that really suits me right now. It’s also good that the regular band has a really good drummer who is a joy to play with (the previous two times I was asked to play he was on). So that’s a result. It was a lovely communion service this evening with an absolutely cracking set of songs. The running order was: To open: 1. Gonna Trust in God, in E (CCLI 2737744) 2. Here for You, in F (CCLI 5925649) 3. Better is One Day, in D (CCLI 1097451) Response songs: 4. I Will Offer Up My Life, in D (CCLI 1083764) Communion: 5. Trust in God, in E (CCLI 7206001) 6. Goodness of God, in A (CCLI 7117726) To Finish: 7. Lord I Lift Your Name on High, in E (CCLI 117947) 8. This is Amazing Grace, in E (CCLI 6333821) It was really great fun to play and all the team are great folks. With a female pianist and vocalist leading there were lots of songs in keys different from the recording but they were easy enough to change and worked fine. When we started rehearsing “Lord I Lift Your Name on High” bashed out a piano riff and asked, “Trevor, could you start with this?” So I said, “Ah, we’re going full ‘Steve Miller Band’ are we?” to which she grinned. So that song began on bass and drums with the bass riff from “The Joker” 🃏🤣 Next time she wants to do a tune which fits with the bass line from “You Can Call Me Al”!!! Played my lovely Sandberg VM4 through the house Warwick amp. Sounded great. Can’t wait for next time!

So started drilling this evening and broke my one and only 6mm metal drill, I had three holes to do and then I could do the M3 hole tapping. Somewhat annoying but two 6mm's on order for tomorrow delivery. That's half a day lost. My issue now is time, I'm in London Tues and Weds, jam session Thursday and I may have family things at the weekend. I'll probably have to put the guitar on hold but I'm worried that any paint finish will not be dry, so suspect I may have to just prime it and bring as-is. Ahhhh! This is annoying, work is definitely getting in the way of play now. Rob -

Good advice to ask what the friend himself thinks. We've all been in situations which weren't ideal, but felt, for various reasons, that we should try to make the best of them. It can be difficult to find a band, any band, to play with. Witness the number of posts on here from people struggling to do so. It's not surprising some decide to stick with what they have, even if it's far from perfect. The OP's pal could well be in that position. No matter how good a singer you are, it's difficult to give of your best when surrounded by duffers. He may be looking for an outside perspective, as I suggested. I don't agree with Hellzero (I rarely do). It's all very well patting yourself on the back for your "brutal honesty", but it frequently achieves little. -
Bring the lot and we'll work it out in Clapham. I think you had a Colt when you came down last time you came down, according to Google thats circa 850 litres of space, the Seat has close to double that plus the top box (if needed). Failing that I'll borrow an Land Rover from someone, though it may take us a bit longer to get there, actually a lot longer now I think about it Hold firm and steadfast. Rob

Up for sale is this beautiful Meridian Aural II custom 5-string. Price in €: 1595 The bass has some small blemishes as shown in the pictures The two indents you see on the neck in the last picture are on the bottom side of the neck (when playing) and you don't even touch them when you play, so I can't point out enough that all the markings you see in the pictures are just aesthetical and have no impact on the playability, sound and feel of the instrument. The bass feels, sounds and plays as amazing as it looks and the pre-amp upgrade (Customized Gregory Preamp GPB-3M)* opened up the already huge variation of killer tones this bass has to offer even more. The flat and wide profile neck is super easy to play and the neck is stable as can be. All in all a great player, with a tone to die for and I'm very reluctant to let this one go, but some financial setbacks are forcing me to sell some gear... 😥 Body: Ovangkol/Pau Amarelo/Ovangkol Neck: Pau Amarelo with AAAA maple strip Fretboard: Phenolic resin 24 frets 16" radius (This looks, feels and sounds like a thick slab of ebony) Bridge: Babicz Tuners: Gotoh Pickups: neck – Delano JSBC5 (HE/M2), bridge – Bartolini Soapbar (P25CBC-T) (*) Preamp: Upgraded to customized Gregory Preamp (GPB-3M) with volume (Push/Pull active-pasive), pickup selector, passive tone (Push/Pull Bridge Coiltap), Mid, Bass-Treble stack and mid frequency selector 400/600/800 Hz. Due to the preamp changes also pot covers has been changed to metal black. Original Meridian Trinity preamp as well as orginal pot covers are included. When ordering a new Meridian Aural II today, it would cost you between 4000 and 5000 Euros depending on the specifications. The bass comes with the (perfect fit) hardcase shown in the pictures. The bass will be safely packed, double boxxed, with plenty of padding to ensure safe shipping. Pickup and testing is possible in Ghent, Belgium. Interested in partial trades with: - A cheaper 5-string +cash adjustment (no 35" scale please) - FMC 114 EX HP cab - Damnation Audio MBD-2/MBD-3 Greets&Grooves!

I use a Zoom Q2n to record gigs (4k video and x/y mics). So, no need to say anything, just 'helpfully' record their next gig and present them with an SD card of their performance and they can make up their own minds. -

All of this can be done as coaching conversations if needed. It's established performance improvement methodology and was developed to keep people motivated. There are classic examples of alcoholic repeat offenders who were either given negative feedback and punishment (a night in the cells) versus coaching conversations to get them to reflect on their own performance. The results are something like 5% non-offender rate with punishment and negative feedback, 40% non-offender rate with tailored coaching. Because it turns it round and makes them responsible and puts them in control of what's next. They don't go defensive because they're being attacked, they get constructive because their being supported but in a challenging way. -
If anyone has either a fender telepath or XVive A58 wireless that I can test to see if it is noise free I would be pretty interested!

There's more space in the car now as I'm only bringing the one bass and amp and my lad has had to decline.

Can do, it depends on the amps but most people are sensible. ( it's not a guitar show) At the last Midlands Bash we had a "No amps during lunch or the talks" rule which worked really well. A few folks brought headphone amps, so they got shared around a bit if I remember correctly.
