  1. Past hour
  2. Hi this gorgeous sorry you two didnt bond. May I ask if it has a case as well as the Bass Direct packaging? If not no worries, would you be happy for me to arrange pick up?
  3. Short sleeves for me - inevitably every band I end up in wants a “look”. To me everyone wearing the same gear looks like workers from McDonalds or any other corporate gear where the plebs have to wear a uniform to show that they aren’t management. But whatever “stand out from the crowd all looking the same” regimented uniform I end up in it will be short sleeves, I don’t like long sleeves and I don’t like feeling uncomfortable when gigging.
  4. Hmmm - not sure about this, but it might grow on me. Neil Peart was the perfect drummer for Rush, who were the perfect band for his playing; I don’t care whether he was the best in the world or not: that’s a complete irrelevance. Effectively they’re doing a tribute to Rush, which is pretty much what they said. It could well be fun! Alex Lifeson is looking old and I thought he had arthritis, so we’ll see how that goes. But anyway, blah blah blah…
  5. Did anybody read that thread title in William Shatner's voice?
  6. This is taking time to sell !!!
  7. I was trying to remember who did the "basses against a fence" photo years ago. That was impressive. @cetera?
  8. Looks like the original version which sounds a fair bit nicer than the more recent Mk3/Mk4 models!
  9. You may well be right.

The Who were never the same again, and they have staggered on making increasingly worthless music into the present. And as for the The Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins seemed like a lovely chap and a decent drummer, but he wasn't comparable to Neil Peart or indeed Keith Moon in terms of his sonic imprint on the sound of the band. Led Zeppelin packed it in after John Bonham died. Good decision. The reunions with Jason Bonham were a mistake, and Jason's a fantastic drummer in his own right uniquely placed to substitute for his truly iconic dad. It's nothing to do with playing ability or even music. It's about accepting that something very special is over and cannot be recreated. Everything in life is a time and a place. The time and place that Rush belonged to is gone now, nothing will ever bring it back. That's nothing to be sad about, though. It's what makes what they had so wonderful.
  11. Yeah I'm not entirely sure that's the route we would go down, it might be worth a grand or two but probably not enough to warrant auction. Appreciate the info 👍
  12. Bought this very recently from Bass Direct on Special Offer, reduced from £1849.00 to £1399.00, it is a gorgeous instrument, I simply can't bond with it. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/spector-ns-dimension-ms-5-inferno-red-gloss/ So, totally as new in all original packaging from BD. Save a chunk on this if Spector is your thing, great reviews on these too!
  13. Did it also have microphonic pickups ? If yes then it was an exact replica. Have a hazy memory John Hall was retired by then and his laddie was responsible. Course John's earlier behaviour did him no favours so he'd automatically cop the blame.
  14. First I'd like to thank everyone for their comments and avice, which as usual were very constructive and appreciated. I've been giving what to do some thought and have come up with this plan. As I said at the begining, I'll never use the cabinet as it stands. I will never play a venue that would warrent it, let alone at 72 with dodgy knees and shoulders be able to move it. I agree with those that commented, it would be a sacrilege to chop it about and pull the drivers out. I was given this for free and the very generious person that gave it to me knew that I only wanted it in order to remove the drivers and build them into smaller enclosures. It's just not right for me to try to sell it on, however I do have an plan. I'd be willing to swap the cabinet, as is for either a smaller cabinet, drivers or at a push some other bass gear or guitar. I think that way I can square my conscience. I haven't yet had the oppotunity of plugging in an amp and testing the cabinet or opening it up. But I though I'd put the idea out there and see what others thought. I'm bassed in Essex and if anyone is interested they would have to collect, it took two of us to get it in and out of my car. Once the condition is understood, I'll also post it in the for sale forum.

  16. XPND shown with the Pelican IM2306 & Ghostfire Nano (and nano + is the same height) showing space underneath.
  17. It sounds to me like it's just shifting the centre frequency.
  18. Definitely US. This came from a parts bass made by a Sadowsky employee. No real markings on it to identify as such. The pickups were scrubbed out and headstock left blank for fear of repercussions. I still have the neck - Brazillian rosewood fingerboard, Graphtech nut, Schaller tuners.
  19. La Bella 760FX Flatwound Strings Used for approximately 4 hours. Cut for Fender style head. £30 including postage.
  20. Although with Gardiner Houlgate, the buyer's fee and seller's fee total around 50% so the seller gets about 50% of what the seller pays (about 75% of the hammer price).
  21. Everything you need for your Precision or P style bass! Tonerider Precision pickups, Kiogon solderless loom (250k CTS pots, Polydrop cap, Switchcraft jack) and Allparts knobs. Parts from project bass now disassembled. £100 posted.

If we're still on this side of the pond next summer, we're definitely going. NY is closer, but I'd love to go to the Toronto show and get those hometown vibes. Not seen Rush since Wembley Arena in 1992 and I'd love to see them again. Anika is a monster drummer and will be a great successor for Neil. I'm sure there's people out there who might have preferred to see Danny Carey or Mike Portnoy, but I think she's a great choice. She's got the chops and the groove to do it justice. As for those thinking this is cynical - it's been ten years. It's their band and the fact that they haven't done anything for ten years suggests that they are doing this on their own terms. And it's being done with the full blessing on Neil's family. The Foo Fighters were back out there a few months after Taylor Hawkins passed away and you didn't find too many people saying that about them. The Who had a gig three days after John Entwistle died!
  25. Rory bought my EBS session and ended up waiting over two weeks for the Xpress 48Hr delivery. A very nice, and very patient chap. Great comms, fast payment. Perfect BCer.
