  2. How hard is it to get hold of Markbass speakers replacements? Gigged my Markbass AG1000 and Ninja cab last night and it made a funny noise that wasn’t my playing for a change. It did this a few weeks back at another wedding gig - very distorted at gigging volume and the ‘bottom’ speaker seems to be throwing itself far further in its trajectory compared to the top speaker, leading me to think that the speaker/s need replacing. As a side note, I’ve tried the AG1000 on several other gigs with different cabs since that initial wobble and I can confirm that it’s not the head or the bass etc. the only difference was the cab. How tricky are Markbass spares to get hold of? I haven’t contacted Markbass yet but just wanted to know where to start looking. Ideally, I’d like to convert the cab to 4 ohm to get the most out of my Aguilar Tone Hammer 500, and I know the old NY122 cab was nearly the same spec as the Ninja 122 but with a 4 ohm load as opposed to the 8 ohms of the Ninja. Any Markbass speaker stockists happy to help?
  3. What can I say about this pedal that hasn't already been said? Super cool and unique filter used by Flea and lots of other people. No other filter I've come across sounds quite like this little green beast, and it also does the famous "dub trick" of turning your bass into a subby monster by turning off the sensitivity so the filter doesn't open. It's been well used in it's ~30 year lifetime with a few bumps and scrapes in the finish, but all is working as it should. Somehow the notoriously "difficult to keep hold of" battery door is still intact on this one! No velcro, and rear sticker with serial number still intact also. Really cool pedal that I owned a number of years ago, and wanted to revisit it out of nostalgia! I've had my fun with it here at home, and now it's time to pass it on. Boss to 3.5mm power adaptor included. Looking for exactly what I paid for it from here a few weeks ago: £60. Add a £5er for delivery, or can be picked up from Ickenham NW London.
  4. Theres never a reason to not take the Three10 mate. I love mine and the 610 isn't seeing any action atm.
  5. It sounds to me like it's just shifting the centre frequency.
  6. Yeah - thinking about it a bit more, my 'shim staircase' won't work because obviously (well, to anyone but me!) it raises the bridge as well as the neck block, so the relationship between them stays the same. Duh. So the options would appear to be limited to shaving the neck block, recessing the bridge - or ripping off the fretboard & sticking a thicker one on! Unless there's a bridge out there with much lower saddles...
  7. Great useful pedal from trustworthy bass chatter 😎
  8. Truly magnificent and rare in this finish!
  9. Yes, I quite agree. The person I bought it from struggled with it, but ultimately gave up. All it needed was some time with a specialist and now it's a good value entry level bass. More suitable than the bass I started with!
  10. Only recently came across him on Youtube doing Dean Town. Dave
  11. … the FOH folks complimented me on the tone at rehearsal and Sunday morning today. I did also have a Sfx Micro Energiser on the board (see below), but a nice tone either way. Also felt nice ‘under the fingers’ if you know what I mean!
  12. Fender blacktop jazz bass. Only played a few times, excellent condition. Includes original fender hard case. Made in Mexico, 2013 model. Champagne/pearl colour. I have swapped the pick guard for the purple tortoise shell. Original black pick guard comes with sale. A few of the pick guard screws have some rust on. All specs can be seen in the last few pictures. Sad to get rid of it but I am no longer the bassist in a band so have little use for it. Sounds incredible, the dual split coil pick ups give an amazing tone. Any questions feel free to ask.

  13. Here is my beautiful Fender AVRI 74 Jazz! Near mint condition. Absolutely killer bass to play! Not to be confused with the 75 reissues, these went further in terms of quality and vintage accuracy in build. Some have said this run of AVRI was discontinued relatively quickly due to being to competitive with custom shop basses. The block & binding work on the neck is AMAZING! The original bridge has been replaced with a Badass II which I love for the added sustain... The original bridge is included. I will also include a tortoise shell pickguard which I think is a great look! I have too many basses and this one is not getting played so it has to go Includes the original G&G case with all the case candy! Anyone is welcome to come and try it out! Collection is preferred but I can ship if needed. UK insured shipping only and it's NOT included in the price.

  14. If you’re a fan of Pino Palladino’s work, you’ll appreciate his bassline on Paul Young’s cover of "Everytime You Go Away"
  15. Ooh I know that experience. Ramirez these are all such helpful comments. Room acoustics is tough, I have a small box room as my studio, no sound treatment, and ... hang on let me count: 2 double basses, 3 acoustic guitars, 6 hollow body basses, 3 solid basses and a Jaguar all hanging on the wall within a few feet of the mics. Not exactly ideal. 😁 Foam under all their strings is about the only damping. Sometimes I clip a quilt up against the door behind the mics

  18. Reissue priced at £40.99, yours (new, sealed) for £25 posted UK. OMD’s 1985 album Crush, will be reissued for its 40th anniversary in October. The band’s sixth album features the singles ‘So In Love,’ and ‘Secret’, with the former reaching the top 30 of the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. The 2LP vinyl edition features seven unreleased tracks. Both formats include rare photos and comprehensive notes by journalist and author Jason Draper in conversation with Andy McCluskey. The 40th anniversary re-release of Crush has been a wonderful opportunity for us to re-assess the album. 1985 was a period of great intensity with constant touring and time pressure in the studio, but we created a powerful collection of songs and lyrical themes. In hindsight, we made a much better album than we knew at the time. Two hit singles ‘So in Love’ and ‘Secret’ remain live set constants to this day. ANDY MCCLUSKEY
