Oddly enough, the owner of Alexander Pedals flagged it with me when I reached out about the blended step thing.

This is one of @thevintagebassist 's necks.

Wow! They look really great! live the LEDs on the fretless. That must be quite a difficult job I guess.

Got 4 sets on the way, thanks! Been using these exact strings on my backup bass for a while now so should keep me going for a while.

I reckon Dec 31st is the worst day to have a bass posted! Bank holiday, snowy Friday, weekend… 🙃 -

You’re OK with Pino, he has used his quite extensively with his recent collaboration with Blake Mills. -

Every time I hear mention of the Bass VI I get gas and I was hoping to be a star of the gear abstinence thread this year! 😳 I can’t explain why they appeal. It’s a pretty daft design really with that whammy bar set up and the string spacing is narrow, even for my tiny Trump like digits! Perhaps it is because Jack Bruce played one at some stage and the Beatles had one kicking around. I’ve probably seen other hero’s from my teens using them as well. -
Well, its found a place on my board. Still getting to grips with it, but it's a VERY cool sounding unit, easy to adjust the parameters for the most part, and all the sounds it makes are actually useable, rather than something to just muck about with. Took a good bit of messing about to get it working well in my QC chain. Naturally, it doesn't track nearly as well as I'd hoped. The hammer-ons and pull-offs not re-triggering in Ian's videos was what I was really hoping would work, and it does for the most part below the 7th fret or so, but any further up on all strings it retriggers, which is frustrating, and a tad confusing really as I'm not sure I understand why, for example, G2 on the A string will hammer nicely from F, but retriggers on the D (10th vs 5th fret). I'm sure using old flats help a ton, EQ curves and compression on the QC help tame the harmonics and smooth things out from the rounds but its still not brilliant. Still, it handles ghost notes well and there isn't a ton of latency, as long as its in 4 string mode. The first and last preset are my faves, the last being quite similar to one of my favourite patches I had on the Chunk synth.

Hi all Continuing a bit of a clear out. Next up is this lovely Silver Series Squier PJ from the fujigen plant in the early 90s. Only selling as I have two of them. This one has had a Bartolini bridge pickup fitted, the jack socket has been moved to the side and a bland pot added. The controls are in the order vol/tone/blend. It’s also been fully shielded with gold foil. All work professionally by Gary Chandler Honor in Denmark Street. If you aren’t familiar Gary used to work with Stairway to Kevin and more recently worked as tech on ABBA Voyage amongst other gigs. The bridge has been replaced with a relicd Gotoh slotted saddle one, I might still have the original if you want it included. There are general age related dents and dings but nothing major. Any big circular marks in the photos are just light reflections. Also worth noting, the nut has a slight gap under it on one side. This doesn’t affect action or playability at all (and could be easily changed if you wished) but wanted to mention for transparency. pics below, any questions give me a shout. Pickup from Chessington or central London, shipping also possible. Thanks Dan

mikeypob started following Bass cabs next to drum cabs

As a small 3 piece out drummer uses a bass cab to boost his bass drum - this is placed next to my bass cab due to limited pub gig space. Should both bass and bass drum sound be so close?
-
Glad to hear! I'm also build my 3rd headless right now, these are my two previous ones done. And the wal replicas (not going full wal with 8 coils pickups and electronics etc...)
-
Price drop to £100! High quality fuzz with some great sounds including Velcro tearing gated fuzz for some synthy action plus more traditional fuzz noises. In the original box with some feet and a sticker. Velcro’d on the bottom plus free of charge carpet fluff. I’m trying to free up cash for a BassRig 15 so not a massive interest in trades / part-ex unless there’s a GigRig QMX4 or QMX6 involved.
-
Thanks a lot! I’m still very happy with it. The BEAD tuning works great on it, real fun to play. Right now I’m building a headless/fretless/neckthrough 5 string, hope it turns out just as good.. Do you have pics of your replicas somewhere?
