  2. I think you are right. I’m such a silly goose…….I have changed the advert. I think they are big singles.
  3. I can second this - the similar neck on @Silky999's Daphne Blue Nitro Jazz is really nice too. A really nice 'neck job'! Maybe this needs some "Mr.Grey" brand identity, Steve?
  4. Beedster

    Pairs

No longer with me but these were two rather lovely, if rather different pairs.....
  5. These pickups have visible polepieces: older model.
  6. Beedster

That pic makes me feel rather happy 👍
  7. No Scrubs - TLC
  8. Bernard's musical taste shaped much of the Chic sound. I also think Jerry Barnes overplays which is a shame, but Nile did tell him to be himself when he joined so...there's that.
  9. Congrats on your recent acquisition. I have been keeping an eye on these since they were released and would love to hear more if possible on how it plays and sounds. For me it sits in a particular group with visual layout similarities to the Gibson DC bass and the Cort Action Junior in terms of scale length and pick up position though obviously a big difference in price. How have you found the tone control and the push/pull in terms of altering the sound?
  10. I understand, but I used to own the bass you did and I found the Hidersine one to be fine! The biggest issue is lifting up stairs and the Hidersine one (to me) had the most logical handles. I also had a Roth & Juinus one which was nice but was too thick and heavy. Its was almost impossible to put on and weighed (what felt like) 8kg. Add that onto an aluminium DB and it’s a brute to carry. Whats easier with an aluminium bass is that it’s hardly likely to dent to much!
  11. I've had my M4 for about five years now and it's great with zero problems. It runs at very low latency as well. The last driver update was the end of last year. Also, the headphone out has plenty of volume.
  12. The archlute looks great and very intriguing. I hope it came in a case.
  13. I can lend you a butter knife and you could go at it like Jaco, if you like.
  14. Ooh, Chorus Pedal? Best used with your dual single coil bass - solo the bridge pickup and turn the tone down to 50% and hey presto, you magically embody the ghost of Jaco Pastorius. Anyway, just off to buy a sunburst fretless Jazz... (Only joking!) A thick wha..? I don't recognize this word. Plectrum? (Oh, is that the device for people who don't know what their fingers are for, who love to make those horrid clacky clanking noises?)
  15. That's good to hear, Im gonna keep an eye out for good deals and hopefully grab one soon👌
  16. Today
  17. Hi! Or… should I say Praise The Sun! ☀️
  18. So, Nile Rodgers & Nile Rodgers?
  19. I got a message on Thursday asking if I could cover a gig tonight. I was away in the Western Lake District and only got home last night. First time playing with these people, and hadn't met two of them before today. All I had was message with a set list and keys, plus a bit of back and forth on whatsapp about which versions etc. The gig went down really well, nice place, nice people, and lots of positive feedback. Bluesy covers, but very few 12 bars, even a Christina Aguilera tune, which I never thought I'd be doing at the age of 60! Two singers, male and female, guitar, cajon, and me on bass Travelled light, BF One10, GK Legacy 800, '73 P bass. One trip load in. Oh, and I got paid in cash! Rob
  20. Yes, bit I eat padded nylon for breakfast. I really need something tougher.
  21. The Reprise Years - his five 70s studio albums plus live at the Albert Hall and a disc of rarities. New, still sealed and unplayed, this is the definitive history of a major American songwriter. £35 posted UK - less than half retail price. NOW £30 posted
  22. Wow! £835 for a gigbag. 😮 How much do you want for yours, Chris? LOL
  23. The review says it all: comprehensive, US published and hard to find. Price is UK posted, unread condition. Now £16. Times And Seasons - The Rise and Fall and Rise of the Zombies Robin Platts HoZac Books, $31.99 356 pages Classic British pop, expertly chronicled Few books on the Zombies exist, but theirs is a story worth telling. And it's predictable that, given their Stateside star status, this quintessentially English quintet of She's Not There and Tell He No fame should be chronicled on an American imprint. The band only hung up its touring shoes last year after leader/keyboardist Rod Argent's stroke, but the work he and singer Colin Blunstone created after their reunion in 2001 - the years since 1968 being silent, in a Zombies sense - are also covered in detail by author Platts. The band always had a youthful camaraderie, having come together at high school, and that comes over faithfully in this account of their heyday - plus a long tail that details their subsequent musical careers. While Blunstone went solo and Argent created an eponymous prog band (of God Gave Rock And Roll To You fame), guitarist Paul Atkinson went behind the scenes and signed Abba to CBS - a feather in anyone's cap. Detail is forensic without being stifling. If the layout is a trifle fanzine-y, the integration of illustrative material like press cuttings and photos with the text helps make this an easy read. And the urge to play the music, always the sign of a good book, is irresistible.
  24. His latest posthumous release is a double CD and DVD presentation from the Swiss Baloise Festival in 2008. Highlight is Al Kooper’s I Love You More Than Youll Ever Know b Retails at over £20. This is sealed and unplayed, £12 posted UK seems reasonable.
  25. I think that was when I played the riff from Magnificent Seven by The Clash over and over while you fiddled with compression settings and it became progressively harder to play! Crikey, 15 years... trying to work out why I am actually a worse player than I was then, haha!
  26. SRV was mind bendingly loud. Just his backline. His rhythm section were having trouble making an impact through the FOH.
  27. Most of it. If I was still playing that bass I bought in 1987, virtually no one would notice the difference.
